I used to wonder that EVERYDAY. ......EVERYDAY. I expel it now because I used to be there but now I am here.
BTW your welcome.
Why, what, when, where, how all questioned that fueled my anger. I have a furious temper that has always had to be kept in check. It blocked everything for me because I am not suppose to ask those questions. It blocks my understanding.
I don't have the answers, I have one simple task, but that doesn't mean you wouldn't find the answers, or peace. If you believe anything is possible then it is, if you have no belief it isn't.
Everyone has special gifts, if they find them. You must find them.
It is a mystery to me if I allow myself to ask the question, Why wouldn't anyone be interested in finding their calling in excellence.

I sympathize with your struggle. Job sought the answer to why a benevolent god would cause him to suffer so and basically god said: "Because I can." Soren Kierkegaard's solution was much like yours. He urged people to 'take a leap of faith.'

Personally, I cannot reconcile a god of power & mercy to one who permits the killing of innocent babes by nature: weather and disease, or who allows up to 40% of human embryos to be aborted naturally. Seems like a demon in charge rather than a god to be worshipped.

... Why the need to wank us?

I am uncertain who us refers to, but either way I do not know what you are talking about. Perhaps by analogy what you are objecting to is Kirata's need to correct everyone's grammar. Though irritating He does contribute to the health of the forum.

Some Christians would argue, Why bother? These people are no good. Let them perish. Such things can be a slippery slope. If you are asking, Why am I here? The answer is complicated.

Personally,I`m free of any doubt and or wonderment about why we are alive and that we will die....

We`re alive because our parents fucked(at least once [;)] ) and we`re going to die because we`re alive.

I`m not in interested in trying to figure it out other than feeling the tingles down my neck when I realize how wonderful and vast it all is and that we get a chance at consciousness and love.

5000 year old middle eastern desert gods and their dogma are not my idea of who god is,what ever her name is.

What I wrote begs a question, Does the atheist community have its share of zombies as well? Do atheists score better in College Calculus? I didn't realize that your religious affiliation mattered.

IQ and academic achievement seem to matter:

Commenting on some of the above studies in The Daily Telegraph, Lynn said "Why should fewer academics believe in God than the general population? I believe it is simply a matter of the IQ. Academics have higher IQs than the general population. Several Gallup poll studies of the general population have shown that those with higher IQs tend not to believe in God."[12] A study published in Social Psychology Quarterly in March 2010[13] also stated that "atheism ...correlate with higher intelligence".[14]

It is wonderful for you because you were born lucky: born to the right parents in the right part of the world. For most others on this earth not so wonderful.

BenevolentM -> RE: What good is morality anyway? (3/22/2014 8:06:11 AM)

vincentML this is not a matter of evidence; you are expressly choosing not to believe in God.

Recalling a lesson given to me by Kirata perhaps I should use a semicolon here instead of a period.

There you go again assuming godly omniscience with the power to perceive my thought processes. [8|]

What I said is clear at this point. This is not a matter of ignorance on your part. You are consciously and deliberately choosing the position you are taking.

BenevolentM -> RE: What good is morality anyway? (3/22/2014 8:20:25 AM)

State another way, you rebelled against God and are in rebellion.

I am very plain spoken. Some think it is a gift, some think it is stupid. That's okay.
I think you are wrong about BenevolentM, but that is also my own personal opinion.
I absolutely do not hate homosexuals and I absolutely do not hate atheists and I absolutely do not hate people of different faiths and I absolutely do not hate BDSM and I absolutely don't hate people different then me. Its just not me either, there are a lot of people who are sincere and do good things. Much better things then I do, I can only hope to aspire to end up like them.
Look where I am posting[:D]
I have came a long way, and I like sharing it. hopefully to bridge understanding. I am just a mediocre person, with an average IQ (some might argue the opposite either one way or the other LOL) No political pull except for a vote. .
Callling one a zombie is just semantics. Turn it on a dime, one can take a negative and make it a positive. I am not going to get all bent all out of shape out of that.
Have a great day[:)]

This, however, is a circular argument. You can't be in rebellion against something you don't believe in. You might be wrong, but you can't be "in rebellion".

This, fundamentally, is the issue with all religion. The entire construct is circular and starts with "faith" -- that is to say -- the unsupported belief that something is true. Some of us prefer facts... you know... real hard cold measurable and objective facts... the scientific method... which brought us the internet we are using right now.

You have "the advantage of having decoded the bible". What advantage, exactly, does that confer upon you other than the ability to claim moral superiority for no particular reason? What prediction can you make from this "decoded bible" that couldn't be made without it? If I wanted to verify some of this secret information you have, how would I go about doing that? Oh, and why on god's green earth would god encode the bible to start with? Generally when we encode things we are trying to keep it a secret. I had sort of thought the play here was to get people saved not to make some sort of maze for the rats to run through. What sort of secrets would an omnipotent and omniscient being need (when you factor in why we have secrets to start with)?

The whole thing just reeks of ... well ... blatant manipulation in a very cynical and very secular power grab.

Absolutely not a matter of ignorance on my part. I can only be in rebellion to god if there is a god. Your god is either hiding from the horrors he has caused or is fictitious. I suspect the latter.

Guard, this is an insalubrious substance which is for the moment rendered inert by a lead vessel; handle with care.

I tell my daughter " oh you are to smart for your own good!!!"
And she says....."what does that even mean mom!!!"

I was not born to privilege just so you understand that. Someone mentioned luck.

No. It is a bizarre quirk of the writing program. Notice that it happened in my post also. In the finished product but not in the work in progress. I tried to get rid of it without success.

On the other hand, I was born to privilege.

I can help. It goes back to an HTML thing.

Think of all commands as "earmuffs". There's an opening command and a closing command.

In this case, it's the "strike" command "{s}" (with the straight brackets, when you don't hit the shift button) and it needs the {/s} command to close it.

When people do quotes here, they sometimes forget the formatting which is why you'll see people that quote me appear to be using the same font color; they cut off the {/color} closing command.

I'm pretty sure that's what happened up there.

I don`t use phrases like counting my blessing but I do know I`m lucky. One only needs to visit the 3rd world one time to know this.

I don`t suffer fat ugly comfortable Americans very well, when they complain.
