BenevolentM -> RE: What good is morality anyway? (3/22/2014 1:29:16 PM)

Atheism seems to think that if only they got their way we would be living in paradise.

BenevolentM -> RE: What good is morality anyway? (3/22/2014 1:40:47 PM)

As I pointed out a long time ago atheism creates a divide by zero problem. There is a relationship between faith in God and morality. Even the Masons recognize this. They do not accept atheists. Hasn't the legal profession given up on morality? and has no moral code? Many would agree. But the world hasn't ended? Has it? Though a sickness, belief in God can be inadvertent.

Do you really believe that?

Yes. If an atheist claims to be moral, they are inadvertently claiming a belief in God. Hence, some atheists are moral. The problem is as I've pointed out a long time ago is that atheism does not scale well. An individual atheist can appear to be a moral actor. Collectively the problem atheism poses becomes more evident. atheists become stuck on I'm a moral person and fail to see the effect they have on the bigger picture.

In other words the effect is subtle, but nonetheless real. So the sort of reaction, backlash, they get naturally seems mysterious. The reaction suggests that they are an abomination. Yet, they say to themselves, "I'm not an abomination. This is absurd!"

The underlying logic is too simplistic to admit careful observation. This is why the religious often try to suppress the ego. The religious are attempting to boost their signal to noise ratio.

1) looks pretty pathetic when you quote yourself, might wana work on that.
2) If you think moral atheists actually believe in god, you don't understand atheism, and you clearly don't understand morals. Morals are intrinsically defined by the society around them, and in the past these societal definitions of morality were written into religious texts like the bible. What was accepted as normal then became what was normal in the bible. Do you think the mayans had proper morals because they believed in god(s) despite the fact they committed blood sacrifices frequently? God and religion does not equal morality.

I am confident there were many examples of fine upstanding Mayan citizens.

BenevolentM -> RE: What good is morality anyway? (3/22/2014 2:52:52 PM)

Evidently, there was something subtle that was missing from the Mayan culture which led to the blood sacrifices.

Tkman117 -> RE: What good is morality anyway? (3/22/2014 3:01:44 PM)

Dude, it was a part of their culture, their religion, their essence as a society. It's marked into the ruins that you can still see today. Your definition of morality is not what different cultures define it as. Again, morality is subject to what is deemed appropriate by the society in question. You're demonstrating something called ethnocentrism, and is hardly different from the British explorers "helping" the misunderstood "barbarians" to become more "civilized". Might want to take an anthropology class sometime, might learn a thing or two.

I wasn't born yesterday. I am familiar with anthropology. It may be that most atheists are not all that smart. It is only the superstars who are. The rest are just going along with the party line.

I could do a better job at play acting an atheist than the many professed atheists here.

BenevolentM -> RE: What good is morality anyway? (3/22/2014 4:27:34 PM)

In other words if this atheist community is representative of the atheist community at large, the atheist community is a bunch of people who cannot think for themselves making pronouncements about what is right and wrong.

BenevolentM -> RE: What good is morality anyway? (3/22/2014 4:31:35 PM)

And I thought atheists were intellectuals.

This naturally begs the question, How can someone as perfect as I am be wrong?

I am obviously better at some things than others.

The lyrics to Whip It by Devo

quote:

http://www.metrolyrics.com/whip-it-lyrics-devo.html

Crack that whip
Give the past a slip
Step on a crack
Break your momma's back

When a problem comes along
You must whip it
Before the cream sets out too long
You must whip it
When something's goin' wrong
You must whip it

Now whip it
Into shape
Shape it up
Get straight
Go forward
Move ahead
Try to detect it
It's not too late
To whip it
Whip it good

When a good time turns around
You must whip it
You will never live it down
Unless you whip it
No one gets away
Until they whip it

I say whip it
Whip it good
I say whip it
Whip it good

Crack that whip
Give the past a slip
Step on a crack
Break your momma's back

When a problem comes along
You must whip it
Before the cream sets out too long
You must whip it
When something's goin' wrong
You must whip it

Now whip it
Into shape
Shape it up
Get straight
Go forward
Move ahead
Try to detect it
It's not too late
To whip it
Into shape
Shape it up
Get straight
Go forward
Move ahead
Try to detect it
It's not too late
To whip it
Well, whip it good

Talking to yourself and coming off as crazy being one of them...[8|]

BenevolentM -> RE: What good is morality anyway? (3/22/2014 4:57:59 PM)

After an orgy of listening to Whip It by Devo, it seems that atheism is content with whipping civilization in place of themselves.

Tkman117 -> RE: What good is morality anyway? (3/22/2014 5:05:07 PM)

And after reading your rambling posts, you seem like you may need some therapeutic mental help. Hope you get better soon bro. I may not be religious and I may not pray, but I hope you get better soon [8|]

BenevolentM -> RE: What good is morality anyway? (3/22/2014 5:06:52 PM)

What I wrote suggests that with them it is always someone else's fault. They play the role of the victim.
