Frankly, I think it's damn well over the top as well. It's simplistic, and no more true than "Wall St. kills" or "Politics kills" or any other demographic/psychographic shared by groups with a checked past--which is virtually all of them.

yes its simplistic MM, considering all FTPs responses have been deep and thoughtful... its simplistic to pick just two words and use it as an excuse to ignore everything else she has opined on Labels suck, but so does ignoring that religion is NOT a person, or a special interest group, its a concept wrought by man with all the evils that men can dream up(and by men,or man, I mean humans.) but to go from saying its simplistic and no more true than wall street kills(hey what now?) is to diminish the persecution that has been wrought using religion as an excuse.

In fact, a lot of the killing in question might have underlying economic and/or political causes, with religion just being used as an excuse.

Did you bother to read it in context? It was in response to someone who said alcohol causes deaths whereas one's religion never does (i.e., alcohol kills but religion never does). Try going back through the thread and read exactly what I was responding to, and why I chose to use the phrase "religion kills" and why I chose to raise an example like the Holocaust. I was trying to point out that religion can in fact be responsible for deaths. And that any other reading of history is simply incorrect. [sm=2cents.gif]
