Perhaps it is different because I am on the other side of the kneel. A whip? I know I have to be skilled in the art before another *person* ever comes along to use it. A collar? I would never buy that before the other person is in My life. It becomes cold and impersonal.

To Me, that's not the Domme. It's the ideal of a Domme and has nothing to do with the woman, herself, at all.

I do think part of it has to do with which side of the kneel I am on. I do agree some toys should not be bought until the other person is present. Certainly a collar is one of those items. First, that was entirely cute.

I think you are right that we all tend to draw the lines differently. There are some things that I put in the 'intimacy' category that other people might not. I'm all for s-types having their own bag for items, particularly those who engage in casual play. Things like cuffs, blindfolds, gags, etc. The stuff that is best used with a specific partner, I'm more likely to say find the partner first.
