Well, they may call themselves separate countries, but in reality they're not--any more than our so-called "states" are really sovereign states. Do England, Scotland, and Wales have separate seats at the U.N.? Separate passports? Separate intelligence agencies? Nope. I mean, I understand that there must be some kind of reason why England, Scotland, and Wales all have their own soccer teams, but it strikes us Yanks as strange. Maybe it's just one of those bizarre British traditions. quote:
