Yes he was targeted. What if that call would have been valid though? What if he was a wack job who decided to shot people going down the road and he wasn't stopped and checked out. The whole thing was a hysterical and overdone. But its not uncommon for people to use a gun in a way to hurt others. Just because this police force in this area acted in such a way doesn't mean it would have been played out the same way somewhere else. Give the police some credit, there are some good police officers out there. If you don't want too, that's fine, but I will regardless of that circumstance. I am just looking at the coin from both sides.

Rarely is the Police Department or the fire department off the table from cuts.

3.) The only cuts to fire and police I have seen here in california is sometimes they try to consolidate ineffeciencies but I have never seen them cut significantly.

Here in Minnesota, after over 30+ years, they finally got a tornado warning system that's actually automated
with the National Weather Service, the previous GOP federal administration had turned them down.....

4.) Vote the rascals out.

Almost any Police Department will tell you they can always use more men (and women ) to get the job done... And better updated equipment,....
And to me the police should have just as updated weapons as the military does. No Police Department should be outgunned by the bad guys....

Should the cops have flame throwers,grenades and machine guns?



I find it completely and totally insane that John Q Public can go to a gun show and get more firepower in three days than most police departments have or can get budget approval to buy in years.

There are people who raise private money just so that police dogs can have body armor!! There's no reason for that!!! when police dogs are just as valuable assets to the of to a department
as any other member of the team.

7.) Perhaps the p/o might buy a few of those instead of a new helicoptor or a limo and driver for the chier?

Training costs money too...... in this case, training in how to deal with a public that's becoming more diverse every year

1.) I would be interested to see where you get those "crime stats".... Especially since helicopters are not for crime deterrence, but as a tool to help find the bad guys and/or victims or to help airlift victims of accidents.

2.) Perhaps if we just got rid of tax cuts for the wealthy (since they are not really creating jobs with the tax cut money anyway.) And since you're in the pay cut mood, How about cutting CEO pay since the "wealthy poor income gap" keeps getting bigger every year? And before you ask? Google "wealthy poor income gap" and take your pick of media outlets that all say it's getting bigger. Even from the conservatives.

3.) Then really, seriously, I think you're not paying enough attention to your local municipal and state budget discussions. ... Other than that really to me the how and whys doesn't matter to me - budget cuts are budget cuts.

4.) This is probably going to be the one thing I will completely agree with you about, - the current GOP and its tea party need to go away.

The simple fact that you can actually acknowledge that flamethrowers, grenades and machine guns are available to the general public in the first place, pretty well acknowledges you know what most Police Department's don't have.... And really NOBODY should have the other than United States military.

Maybe you should remember that most of the mass shooters last few years bought their weapons and ammo legally at such shows? John Q public can indeed go to a major metropolitan area gun show and buy some of the most modern weapons made. the most modern weapons. The Most modern weapons police departments have (their swat teams may have better) are older M-16s.

7.) And maybe you should really get past saying something just to have something to say. See #2.

8.) Let's try looking at the demographics of the last two presidential elections shall we? Or just the last two census collections. Open your eyes man. Or, crawled off of that mountain top You been living on the last 50 years. whites are still not the majority they once were. Getting less so every year. Get over it.
