I rest my case.

Waxing nostalgic, I was only a tween/teen then and not affected much by the Recession. Music and lower gas prices (nothwithstanding waiting in lines there for a spell). None of this Big Brother trackability. Al Gore hadn't invented the Internet yet. Global Warming was a non-issue. Those were the days. But I (we) digress....

I once knew a man who always had to have the last word (actually quite a few of them).
He's on soon-to-be ex-Wife#5 now. Divorce lawyers love him, though. At least somebody does.

Then when women act assertive and/or won't budge, appropriate to the circumstances, they get called "ballbusters," or worse.

Only by their enemies.

Enemies will resort to name-calling tactics no matter what you do, my friend.

That was pretty much my point.

Yet how much flack did Julia Roberts get in the media for showing hairy pits while otherwise dressed to the nines? Or for a woman to commit a fashion faux pas, have a hair out of place, leave the house without her make-up on? Would a man be ridiculed for this? No, I think not, for the most part unless somebody has an axe to grind.

It is only those who have an "axe to grind" who would find fault with ms. robert's pit coutier. On the other side of the gender divide I can show you newspaper and magazine articles condeming the coutier of every president from washington forward. John quincy adams was publicly chided for wearing his pj's to church and not combing what was left of his hair. None of this useless, malicious chatter has any relevance to anyone except the enemies of the object of their scorn.

I also read that he used to go skinny dipping in the Potomac.

You two would be ideal together.

I've kept to the topic -- you had to turn to personal tangents.

We're done. I've better things to do.

But still had to get in a last shot before heading off to do them...

You have?

You're still full of shit.

You, on the other, think you're still living in the 70s, and forgot to update your talking points.

Now who's full of it.

I would say that considering that you're older than I am, the '70s should stand out much more clearly, but I also have better things to do.

You'll need more than swipes to support your assertions. Exactly demonstrates the personal tangent point.

but I also have better things to do.

Whew. Praise be.

I'll bet the other posters are getting tired of us both by this point.

Nah. I'm actually amused by it, given how you like to tell others their side conversation is boring to you.

He did. If memory serves, a female reporter he'd been avoiding once sat on his clothes and refused to hand them over till he'd answered a few questions.

Are you sure that wasn't Clinton with the reporter? It sounds like the kind of story he'd come up with for Hillary.

Was that how that went? I was under the impression she jumped in and went swimming with him in order to get the interview she was seeking.

Things sure have changed since then. If the President wanted to go swimming in the Potomac nowadays, he'd have to bring a whole slew of Secret Service agents.

no, men wouldn't be ridiculed for hairy armpits but they would be for having a hairy gorilla back.. same sorta objection, just different body parts.. more and more men do shave and laser their bod now (including their guy bits).. for men, its not simply a fashion faux pas, its an "ewwwww" and a "not getting laid" thing.. when ya think about it, perhaps that's much more cruel/inhumane..

He'd better bring MOPP gear.
