ORIGINAL: DomKen You even changed my post which is expressly against the rules of the forum. You're making shit up again. I didn't "change" anything. I just quoted what was relevant. Deal with it. When quoting other members, please trim the quotes so that they are not excessive... Actually liar, you deleted the part of my post that proved you had quote mined. That was grossly dishonest and a direct violation of the forums rules. You're making shit up again, and the claims in your post were bullshit as usual. Steinhardt was pointing out that the different models find their support only by ignoring inconvenient data. To wit: It's not easy to put the BICEP2 results together with the earlier Planck and WMAP results and make everything fit -- they don't line up all that well. If you try, you end up with rather strange and contorted models. These ugly models don't give you a lot of confidence in inflation at all... And you misrepresented his view of inflation as currently conceived by claiming that he isn't dismissing it. I don't know how dismissive someone has to be for it to penetrate your brain, but this has to be close: My own view is a little bit different still. One of the problems with inflation is that it really doesn't make predictions; it is so flexible that it is not falsifiable. You're always going to be able to change parameters and add degrees of freedom such that it can fit any combination of data no matter what is observed. This is a fundamental problem. A theory that is not falsifiable is not scientifically meaningful. So bend over, bozo, and stop accusing people of cheating and lying every time you can't sell them on your made up shit. K. Look you quote mined the guy to make it look like the guy agreed with you. You got caught. All the howling in the world won't change that. You can try and take the guy out of context all you want but that won't change the facts. Next time don't try and jam a bunch of unrelated stuff together as if it was all one quote.
