Pix, I explained this to this community a long time ago.

Well I never got the memo.

But maybe it's been forgotten.

What was it again?

In my misspent youth I used to fight professionally.

Well now that explanes a lot.

I put myself through college bouncing in nudie bars.

Visions of some hairy fat guy with man beuwbs up on stage ????people actually paid to see that shit?[8|]

I like to fight.

But you carry a gun just in case your aligator mouth overloads your canary ass?

Everyone here knows that.

Nope...didn't get the memo on that either.

After the first few times a drunk biker pulls a knife on you and tells you that he is going to kill you, you kinda lose your fear for naughty cranky pixies.

Kinda hard to be fearful of some guy who has willfully compromised his motor skills with alcohol.

I'm pretty smart

Would you have any validation for this ignorant, unsubstantiated peurile opinion?

and have some interesting experience. I can add to a lot of discussion.

Would you have any validation for this moronic insipid opinion?

But, people on here from the left wing of politics seem to think it's not reasonable for me to disagree with them.

I disagree with that belief.

Actually it is not just the left wing of politics on this forum that disagree with you but everyone with a three digit iq and a pulse.

I will disagree in any manner you choose. The first time you throw an unconscious drunk in a dumpster and not wonder if he'll wake up before the garbage truck comes in the morning pretty much jades you from shying away from harsh words.

Throwing unconscious drunks in a dumpster makes you seem like such a ????hmmmmmm there must be a word for someone who would put an unconscious person into a dumpster that he knew a trash truck would pick up and put through compaction.
The term punkassmotherfucker comes to mind but peurile inane child might also fit but technically it is called murder in the first degree.

So you be nice, I'm nice. You be an ass, you take what happens. Cowboy up or be nice.

Oh my threats from another chairbourn ranger.

It's good to see someone trying to raise the bar for the level of discourse here. [:D]

You got here late....years ago we learned that the man is keeping Dom (cough) Ken down.

His lot in life is due to others ruining his opportunity.

Does it make you feel good to make shit up about other people?

Are you asking because it makes you feel good when you do it and you want to know if everyone is like you?

Nice dodge. Doesn't answer my question, oh natural man.[8|]

No, no -- they 'splained it to me.

All that history of Islamic science? Didn't really happen. Like the holocaust.

And these posters are like experts on world history. They know everything!

What again has Islamic science produced these last 700 years besides roadside bombs and knapsack bombs. Tyson's thesis is that Islamic science took a nose dive and Western science could suffer the same fate. It would be helpful if you stopped making up your own shit and address the OP.

The Big Bang theory explains the entire universe.

Allow me to repeat myself...

quote:

ORIGINAL: Kirata

It may please you to believe that, but they're both just stories. One is a story about how a theoretical "singularity" was the source of the Universe, the other is a story about how a theoretical "God" was the source of the Universe, neither of which explain anything at all about how the Universe actually came into being. The fact is, we don't know. Get used to it.

Present-day physics cannot describe what happened in the Big Bang. Quantum theory and the theory of relativity fail in this almost infinitely dense and hot primal state of the universe. Only an all-encompassing theory of quantum gravity which unifies these two fundamental pillars of physics could provide an insight into how the universe began. ~PhysOrg

Get used to it.

Science is not a cul-de-sac. What cannot be answered today may become obvious tomorrow. Astrophysicists are looking for clues to early gravitational effects.

Musicmystery -> RE: The Erosion of Progress by Religions (6/4/2014 8:30:49 AM)

OK. Look. I'll go slow.

Fuck the fuck off. Did I go too fast?

You've ignored all the links to Islamic science. You've embraced the idea that in the last 700 years, not one Islamic scientist, not in Arabia, Turkey, India, Spain, Africa, China, has contributed to scientific knowledge, and all during a time when the west was a backwards backwater not only mired in superstition, but even as late as the 17th century, confined Galileo to house arrest for the crime of teaching that the earth went around the sun.

And even when I backed off it, you want to continue to hound the matter.

Fuck off. Fuck off royally. Fuck off with painful toys up your backside.

Muslims made great advances in many different fields, such as geography, physics, chemistry, mathematics, medicine, pharmacology, architecture, linguistics and astronomy. Algebra and the Arabic numerals were introduced to the world by Muslim scholars. The astrolabe, the quadrant, and other navigational devices and maps were developed by Muslim scholars and played an important role in world progress, most notably in Europe's age of exploration.

Muslim scholars studied the ancient civilizations from Greece and Rome to China and India. The works of Aristotle, Ptolemy, Euclid and others were translated into Arabic. Muslim scholars and scientists then added their own creative ideas, discoveries and inventions, and finally transmitted this new knowledge to Europe, leading directly to the Renaissance. Many scientific and medical treatises, having been translated into Latin, were standard text and reference books as late as the 17th and 18th centuries.

Islamic universities; Al-Zaytunah in Tunis, and Al-Azhar in Cairo go back more than 1,000 years and are the oldest existing universities in the world. Indeed, they were the models for the first European universities, such as Bologna, Heidelberg, and the Sorbonne. Even the familiar academic cap and gown originated at Al-Azhar University.

In modern times, there is of course no "Islamic" science, or Buddhist science, or Hindu science, etc., because the very concept of science doesn't lend itself to those distinctions. Nonetheless, an Islamic scientist is likely to see the process as uncovering the signs of the divine, and as such, discoveries are likely to be summarily dismissed prior to closer examination by more secular minds.

In his famous novella entitled “Le Petit Prince”, Antoine de Saint-Exupéry describes in a passage the asteroid B-612 from where he believes the little prince came from:

"This asteroid has only once been seen through the telescope. That was by a Turkish astronomer, in 1909.

"On making his discovery, the astronomer has presented it to the International Astronomical Congress, in a great demonstration. But he was in Turkish Costume. And so nobody would believe what he said.

"Grown-ups are like that…

"Fortunately, however, for the reputation of Asteroid B-612, a Turkish dictator made a law that his subjects, under pain of death, should change to European costume. So in 1920 the astronomer gave his demonstration all over again, dressed with impressive style and elegance. And this time everybody accepted his report."

Did I mention to fuck the fuck off?

Your dismissive summary of Islamic sciences as "road side bombs and knapsack bombs" is childish, gilb, and moronic.

Fuck off.

No, really. Fuck off.

If you're *really* interested, go read the links. Go read some world history.

Commanded by the Koran to seek knowledge and read nature for signs of the Creator, and inspired by a treasure trove of ancient Greek learning, Muslims created a society that in the Middle Ages was the scientific center of the world. The Arabic language was synonymous with learning and science for 500 hundred years, a golden age that can count among its credits the precursors to modern universities, algebra, the names of the stars and even the notion of science as an empirical inquiry.

''Nothing in Europe could hold a candle to what was going on in the Islamic world until about 1600,'' said Dr. Jamil Ragep, a professor of the history of science at the University of Oklahoma.

It was the infusion of this knowledge into Western Europe, historians say, that fueled the Renaissance and the scientific revolution.

Islam's rich intellectual history, scholars are at pains and seem saddened and embarrassed to point out, belies the image cast by recent world events. Traditionally, Islam has encouraged science and learning. ''There is no conflict between Islam and science,'' said Dr. Osman Bakar of the Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding at Georgetown.

''Knowledge is part of the creed,'' added Dr. Farouk El-Baz, a geologist at Boston University, who was science adviser to President Anwar el-Sadat of Egypt. ''When you know more, you see more evidence of God.''

Islamic science seems to decline only when viewed through Western, secular eyes. '

''Why did Muslim science decline?'' he said. ''That's a very Western question. It flourished for a thousand years -- no civilization on Earth has flourished that long in that way.'' the Ottomans, who took over the Arabic lands in the 16th century, were builders and conquerors, not thinkers, said Dr. El-Baz of Boston University, and support waned. ''You cannot expect the science to be excellent while the society is not,'' he said.

And in the past couple centuries, yes, Fundamentalists have worked against the embrace of science -- but not just in Islam; Christian fundamentalists are just as hard at work in their zeal to suppress it.

Now fuck off.

For real. Get the fuck out.

I'm not having a "discussion" with Roadside Bomb Boy.

You have the same problem DomKen does. You make shit up and then get called on it. Ken prefers to respond by branding people liars, you tend to favor calling them delusional, but neither of you is in any position to whine about how your efforts have been rewarded.

That said, however, Ken to his credit doesn't descend to sniveling from behind the Hide feature to snipe at people he has blocked from responding. Much as me and Ken butt heads, I have more respect for him than I'll ever have for you. So either grow a pair, or stop clucking.

You won't see this, of course, because you have me on Hide. But maybe someone will quote it for your benefit.

Kirata found _A_ skeptic about inflation amongst the many working astrophysicists and cosmologists and thinks that proved something. Of course that would require utterly ignoring the opinions of all the other working scientists in the fields in question who do not inflation.
