Obama picks and chooses which laws to enforce, setting a dangerous precedent... Of course, many leftists will love this, up until its a Conservative president doing the same thing.

For this thread I have chosen a topic illustrative of this trend. Currently Barack Obama has caused a mass influx of child refugees to flood over our southern border with his decision to ignore our immigration laws

My question for the thread is, what purpose does this wave, this flood of child refugees serve the left - especially if it costs them several Senate seats, or even the Senate itself

Actually, I noted this when Conservative presidents were setting the dangerous precedents, noting that of course, many rightists loved it, up until it's a liberal president doing the same thing. And here we are -- the whining Conservative. And guess what! I'm concerned, just as I was back then. Where were you????

Of course, Obama is hardly a leftist--he's Bush Lite. He's not even a progressive president, beyond a weak health care bill. But I know how your mind has not capacity for anything beyond "Me" and "Far Left"

So child refugees enter the US, and the President finds emergency shelter for them and requests funding to feed them while ICE processes them.

What exactly is the "illegal" part or the "abuse"? And how does this "serve the left"? These aren't invited guests . . .

Here's an on topic response. What's your point ? Let me see. You want to get back to the good not-so-old days ?

Obama was not appointed by the supreme and instead he offends your hypocritical right wing sensibilities by actually being elected ? Is Obama not going through $5 trillion in surplus ? Bothers me too.

A president should just enforce the laws evenly, and across the board, rather than make these politically expedient royal decrees

Lady justice is oft depicted as blindfolded for a reason

How is it a presidents to pick and choose which laws he will enforce, as if he were an emperor choosing between dishes at a royal buffet dinner

Another example of his kingships presidential dereliction - after declaring that Obamacare was law of the land and unchangeable, with just a wave of his royal hand he put off some of the more draconian and highly unpopular requirements until after the elections

And learn to pay attention

Not that I like it -- I don't. But as you said, precedence is dangerous.

And Cheney made it his business to strength the presidency, harking back to his Nixon White House days.

Presidents, of all parties, are dangerous again. And bitterly partisan American makes that possible -- and has them cheering, as the right cheered Bush and Reagan.

Status: offline 		Abraham Lincoln set some dangerous precedents too, but Habeus Corpus isn't the topic, and Lincoln isn't president...

The topic is border security and this president choosing to subvert the law of the land for political purposes. Why have borders, after all? So we can be a sovereign nation of laws. And why have laws, why send a Congress to Washington to pass laws if they're only going to be selectively enforced.

Another example of the selective enforcement aspect of the topic - should it really be more illegal for Tea Party groups to dance around tax laws than leftist groups? And how shrill will the tune you are singing now become once the shoe is on the other foot.
