Anyone remember Georges banner, or Blair claiming (just recently) that it (the invasion) was the right thing to do.

Due to poor handling by Bush and his cronies Iraq is again in turmoil, the Shia government done as predicted by some of us at the time and marginalised the Sunnis. Promises made to get the Sunni community onside during the 2007 battles with AQ militants were reneged on. Now as a result crisis is hardly a strong enough word to describe current events. Scenes on the nes show Islamic insurgents driving US arny vehicles abandoned by the Iraqi army, trained and armed by the allies but mainly by the US. Lets hope the US and UK dont get dragged back in, I wouldnt be shocked if we did though.

That's a surprise. Whenever we've intervened in other countries in the last few decades it's always been so successful, with us leaving behind democracy, peace, liberty and plenty and the locals waving us off with tears in their eyes as they've all cried, 'Y'all come back soon, now!'

Battery acid.

That brings to mind a favorite scene from The Paper.

Henry gulps down a Coke as he prepares to leave for work. His wife asks, "Why don't you just pour battery acid down your throat?"

His perfect reply: "No caffeine."

What is even more fucked up about this is the group that is sweeping the country is not the Iraqi sunnis, it is a group that started in Syria that wants to create some sort of caliphate across parts of syria and iraq, there are some articles in the Times about it today. They are well funded and have attracted shitkickers from all over and apparently they are well organized as well. The sunnis who fought the US are now fighting these people, because this group is fucking over the top fundamentalist Islam, which the local sunni insurgency was not.

What is really scary about this is that Iran could intervene, the Iraqi government might appeal to them to fight these guys off. So what you have is a tmulti way clusterfuck, you have the Iraqi government, dominanted by Shia's, you have the Iraqi sunnis, you have this Sunni insurgency from Syria, and with Iran waiting in the wings. I'll say a lot of things about Colin Powel and Bush I, but it turns out they were a lot wiser then Bush II and his gang of idiots. I am sure the GOP is going to try and blame obama for "losing" iraq, but what was he supposed to do, send in US troops once again to get ground up in a meat grinder.....what do they want, thpousands more dead, 10's of thousands maimed and disabled?

Mission was/is accomplished. You think the neocons give a shit about Iraq or the Iraqis ? They are quite content to sit back and watch them kill each other on CNN.

As long as oil is pumped and sold as usual...they couldn't care less who lives or dies or who runs the country. Any future western military action will be pure warmongering as we've seen, is simply a profit center and to make sure the oil isn't in the wrong hands or cut off completely.

And even then, no big deal...the speculators run up the price for more profit.

I'd suggest you dumbasses let some people assign you your talking points, because you are stomping on your dicks thinking this is a Bush bashing event.

Did you mean, "hear?"

(Sorry, boi, but you have been on a grammar kick a little, and sometimes I just can't help myself )

Isn't that one of Murphy's laws. When you correct someone's grammar you almost always make a mistake yourself. But yes, you are right. Definitely the wrong here.

Poor handling by Bush. Bush hasn't been president for years! I think what you mean is, see what happens when you turn things over to a Democrat...?

Didn't President Obama take a shit load of credit for ending the war in Iraq?

Ya can't have it both ways peeps.

It's okay, I'm sure the UN will step in and keep the Iraqi people safe from these bloodthirsty Islamists.

That's what the UN does, right

Iraq spiraled into chaos nearly immediately after the invasion, and has not recovered. It was a huge destabilizing move by W.

Wrong on one point........ ISIS came about because the insurgents defeated in Iraq in 2007 fled to safety across the Syrian border. AQ never operated in Iraq until the 2003 invasion and ISIS is an offshoot of the insurgent group. The local Sunnis do indeed support this group, rather than the Shia Government, I explained why in my OP.

It is looking like a $1 Trillion Dollar NIGHTMARE. It is just mind-boggling. It is just beyond upsetting.

USA TODAY's headling was: IRAQ inching toward a Civil War.

Are the pertinent facts too painful for you to face up to ?

Bush and Blair take all the blame for this, both for the invasion and the policies afterwards.
