While it was probably a typo, "idjots" is how I sometimes say it, just because. lol
While they can bitch about the cost of gas/oil, having multiple vehicles doesn't necessarily mean an increase in use of gas/oil. The multiple car thing could also be out of necessity, where there are multiple drivers and no economical way for them to reduce the number of cars needed.

it wasn't a typo, that's how I say it sometimes too..
economical??? the average cost for an average vehicle is $9,122/year.. in 5 years that comes to about $45,610, in 10 years that's $91,220.. then multiply that by the number of vehicles in the family.. that hardly sounds "economical" to me..
http://newsroom.aaa.com/2013/04/cost-of-owning-and-operating-vehicle-in-u-s-increases-nearly-two-percent-according-to-aaas-2013-your-driving-costs-study/

So, if a person drives their vehicles for 15k annually combined, how much does it end up costing? If you have a vehicle for winter driving (4/AWD, but lower gas mileage) and one for not winter driving (higher mpg), then what? What if you have a work vehicle that you only commute in and another that you use for travel because the fuel economy is that much better?

Why is it such a big deal to you that someone owns more than one car? Or, even, more than one car per driver? If you don't want to do that, don't. If they do, it's none of your business.

We like the freedom to drive, and that spills over into our commuting, too.

Apparently, ya'll spend 6 months of your life behind the wheel.. do you really like it that much?

Are you sure that was taken in the states. I did a google search and I keep coming up with China.

Yes, its LA.. when I first came to LA I hit rush hour.. it took me 1 hour to move 4 blocks (this was at Burbank).. oh what fun! and I had to go to OC.. so when I think of LA traffic, this pic is it! lol

Speaking of Disney, I remember in my visits to Tomorrowland, they had the Monorail and the People Mover, and they said that those would be the wave of the future in public transportation. But they didn't really seem to take off. I think there are a few cities with monorails. A people mover could probably work in some downtown areas. I don't know if light rail is cheaper.

Toledo talked about putting in a monorail a few years ago. It would have been this awesome thing that would be able to shuttle people all over the city. The idea died a well-deserved death. The public bus route has enough issues with declining ridership and affordability that adding in a monorail made no sense whatsoever. I think the Mayor and Council went to Disney and decided it was a damn good idea. Thankfully, the insanity passed, and we do not have a monorail in Toledo.

then the website it was placed on lied.. cuz it said it was about LA (& I was specifically looking for US traffic jams), but then why be so nitpicky about it, its not like LA traffic doesn't look like that! and move just as slowly.. [;)] But my point was that we spend a f**k of a lot of time stuck in it..

if someone owns more than one car then they shouldn't be bitching about the cost of gas.. its not like inflation was invented by Obama.. [8|] its like having kids but forgetting that they need food, clothes and all that stuff.. [&:]

What difference does it make if I drive 20k miles/year in one car, vs. 20k miles/year combined in 8 cars? Can you not see that there are reasons to have multiple vehicles? And, even if it's just a guy who flaunts his wealth by owning several cars, what does it matter to you? Two cars, one car, 8 cars, I can only drive one at a time. Thus, if I'm driving a vehicle, I'm using gas, regardless of which single vehicle I'm currently driving. If my vehicles get a combined 20mpg, or my only vehicle gets 20 mpg, where is there an incredible waste of gas?

I'm not saying that's NOT L.A. but, L.A. is one of my favorite towns and I've NEVER been on a freeway this large before (ANYWHERE in California).

So... We should shut down the Mexican border, make it air tight, because we can't afford free housing, free food, free Obamacare etc for the masses of poor uneducated people who are here already

Does that include the costs of withdrawing from NAFTA? Because that's what we'd have to do to close the border. No traffic in or out, no exports, no imports. We'd have to practically build a Berlin Wall, with machine gun nests every 100 yards. You have enough money in your checking account to cover all that?

I hadn't considered those factors....I was largely looking at the cost of putting 3 or 4 guys on the Canadian border with a few cartons of LSMFT.

Put up the wall. Use all the tech toys at our disposal to monitor the border. Won't need the Berlin wall. Won't need machine gun nests every 100 yards. We can still import/export. You're talking about "sealing" the border, which no one is calling for. There's a huge difference when you are attempting to secure it.
