I've no idea how to speak 'common', myself - though PoliteSub probably speaks it fluently because he was brought up in London.

There is nothing common about whatever language is spoken in London. I've never had so much trouble making out spoken "English" in my life. I assumed the BBC announcers were representative of London but I was wrong.

I seldom respond to posts here on this part of the forums. I am much more of a lurker, reader, laugh to myself kind of guy. I find this lawsuit ludicrous.
I live in Southern California, just north of San Diego. I have a horrible job currently, lost my decent one a few years back. Every new job I apply for requires fluency in Spanish. Would this not be discrimination? There are plenty of places here which operate solely within the United States in their offices; without being fluent in Spanish which has always been difficult for me (I never had a head for languages), it has been nearly impossible to find a new employment of sustainable pay.
Sounds very much like this should be brought as a class action against many businesses.
When our country was founded, there was a vote for a national language. It was very nearly voted, that we as Americans would be a German Speaking Country. How would that have changed the world? We do not have a ‘Common’ tongue, we just have the perception of one.

You guys also have a secondary language, which is spanish. Just as in Canada we have french as our secondary language. Depending on demographics, some jobs require the use of a secondary language. If I wanted a job in Montreal, I would likely need to know how to speak french. In the USA it's not quite as cut and dry, but you're going to find that english isn't the most popular language on the block eventually (I bet the same will happen here) and capitalism being capitalism will adjust to target a growing consumer base even if it's at the expense of workers who can't adapt to those changes. Capitalism can be a bitch.

Years of reading his dribble is what did me in. My own fault entirely. Im also fluent in most dialects of extreme right wing drivel and hate. You know what they say, when you seek to look into the abyss, the abyss looks into you. Disclaimer....the exact words escape me, its been one of those days where the talibangelical morons have eroded my mood.

Well if I'm reading her right, what Lucy actually said was that she is fluent in in sanity.

I am not sure why President Obama's Administration finds it necessary to pick a fight it knows it cannot win and spend millions of taxpayer dollars doing so

Maybe he learned that trick from the people who keep trying to repeal the ACA, investigate Benghazi for the 37,000 time, shut down the Government because they were throwing a hissy fit. You mean that kind of wasting of taxpayers money?

My sincere and genuine apology to the Republicans in the audience, but it is kind of silly when there is so much shit that is happening that is waste of taxpayers money from both parties to just sit there and point at Obama and claim he is the only one assfucking the general public.

If they hired you for the position, knowing you weren't fluent in Spanish and then canned you because you weren't fluent in Spanish, that very well could be discriminatory. I don't know that their not hiring you because you don't meet their requirements (Spanish fluency) is discrimination. If it is, then I'm going to sue a hospital for not hiring me in to be a Dr., even though I don't meet the qualifications. Same deal.

Republicans deserve what they've voted in. Feel bad for them if they thought they were voting for conservatives...

The country deserves a functional government with elected representatives that represent all of us. The so called conservatives, they're actually reactionaries, in Congress seem to have forgotten that. For instance it is the House's duty to move out an infrastructure bill that at least maintains the nation's many bridges tunnels, dams and other items that are maintained with federal money. They have not done so since 2010. Pretty soon that stuff is going to start failing due to lack of maintenance. Then those idiots will be investigating why Obama let the bridges fail.

Blame? Obama, president pout, constantly blames everyone else. Doesn't he have as much responsibility to work with Congress as vise-versa?

He is not king, despite what he thinks

Where do all of our fuel taxes go. There is already funding in place...

And whatever happened to the trillions in "stimulus" money that was supposed to go toward roads and bridges.

Did the unions divvy it up between themselves and the DNC reelection committee, or what.
