Bullshit, Ken. You let that totalitarian worldview slip again. Only the big existing structures matter. Ford or foreign, was all you could see, and your idea of innovation is a Chevy Volt.

Have a nice night.

Who had the capital in 2009 to buy all those plants? No one. All those people suddenly being out of work would have further hurt demand further damaging the economy sinking the whole country deeper into recession.

Companies don't just suddenly expand in the middle of a bad recession.

And it isn't like the government could have backed loans to such investors, rather than propping up the failed models, is it, Ken?

Loans to foreign owned companies? I think not. And Ford could not possibly have absorbed all of GM and Chrysler.

If the need to bail out was so urgent why did Ford recover better and faster without "help"
than those who got it?
Funny how nobody worries about the affect it will have on unemployment when military people are cut left and right.

Ford has historically been better managed and had a better relationship with the UAW.

People do worry about reducing the military. You are as usual simply full of shit.

Then why is the left always so eager to do it?

Because it has to be done?  Our military is too big.

Once again, only read what I wrote not the crazy shit you wish I wrote.

Innovation is great but it doesn't produce giant heavy industries over night able to employ several million people. Now if you are done trying to tell me my position and being wrong about it...

BS
It is smaller than it was in 1940
But of course any American military is too much.

Once again you are full of shit.
in 1940 we had less than 500k men in uniform.
Today that number is closer to 1.5 million.

When the current round of cuts is completed the army will be smaller than it was then.
We are gutting our military as threats increase.
If you don't think ISIS is a problem you have one.
N Korea is getting more aggressive.
Disarming in the face of this is foolhardy.
Our aircraft are aging an not being replaced.
You have demonstrated repeatedly that you have no concept of geopolitics or deterrence.

crazyml -> RE: The ignorance of liberals (7/16/2014 2:24:37 AM)

Wait? Wasn't this thread intended to be about the ignorance of liberals?

Blimey.

I know this is going to sound completely fucking crazy... but there are some people, even in the military, who believe that upgrading the long range bomber fleet isn't going to make a whole hell of a lot of difference to ISIS.

I know this will seem fantastical to some people, but it could be that fair trade, education, support for economic development and the raising of people out of poverty might be better ways of combating the likes of ISIS.

If you have to convince people of the rightness of western democratic values by shooting them, you've sorta lost the argument.

You've been reading, more likely misreading, some right wing blogs again.

We are not actually about to cut the military by more than 2/3rds.

I simply lack patience for the hateful blather that conservatives are constantly bleating.

I'll note that this thread isn't titled "the ignorance of conservatives". I find it incredibly amazing how thin skinned many conservatives tend to be. You are perfectly happy to say all manner of hateful things about other people but the minute you get a taste of your own medicine you get all indignant and play the victim.

And you think spewing out your own hateful blather is going to help how? All you are doing is making yourself look like a troll.

Thanks

If GM and Chrysler had been allowed to collapse that would have wiped out both the 2 million+ jobs the companied employed directly plus the millions more in the businesses that supplied parts to them. In the middle of the worst recession since the Great Depression. That would have essentially shut down our economy.
Is that what you really wanted?

What would have come up in their places, Ken?

Nothing for years. You understand that right. For many of the people put out of work no equivalent job would ever have come along.

So you think. You don't think Ford would have tried to pick up some lines? Some plants? Some workers? Fuckin'-A! They would have lost a shit load of competition, increasing the demand for their vehicles!

Saturn was nearly bought by Penske.

So, instead of letting shitty business practices die, they are allowed to continue, by government decision. Not only that, but the rights of individual bondholders were shit on (by the government) during the bankruptcy process to boot!

You have a shitty attitude towards the entrepreneurs in America. You truly do.

mnottertail -> RE: The ignorance of liberals (7/16/2014 6:54:18 AM)

Ja, that rant has to be offset with the notion of Ford having the only american car (such as they are, they are not) and cornering the market. I wonder if the anti-freemarket communism notion of COMPETITION for choice, entered into the governments positions at all?

Not to mention all the owners of vehicles whose warranty suddenly disappeared into thin air. "Oh, you bought a car with the expectation of being protected by manufacturer's warranty from GM? Well, we're 'The New GM', so... um... go fuck yourself."

That, and 5 million recalled vehicles to date.

Awesome. Just plain awesome business practices.

Reuters - GM says not responsible for pre-bailout warranty

I disagree.

The majority of Republicans talk the talk of Conservatism. The majority of Republicans do not walk the walk of Conservatism, though.

An ineptitude, pastiche, and farce we can both agree on.

Competition: Toyota. 10.1 million vehicles produced in 2012. NUMBER ONE automaker in terms of vehicles produced per year.
Competition: Volkswagen. 9.2 million vehicles produced in 2012.
Competition: Huyndai. 7.1 million vehicles produced in 2012.
Competition: Ford. 5.6 million vehicles produced in 2012.
Competition: Nissan. 4.9 million vehicles produced in 2012.
Competition: Honda. 4.1 million vehicles produced in 2012.
Competition: Suzuki. 2.9 million vehicles produced in 2012.
Competition: Peugeot. 2.9 million vehicles produced in 2012.
Competition: Renault. 2.6 million vehicles produced in 2012.
Competition: Mercedes. 1.4 million vehicles produced in 2012.

I'm not even mentioning smaller guys like Volvo, Daewoo, etc.

Oh boy, I guess all those don't count. In Dancing Moron's little world, at least. Over 47 MILLION cars produced, compared to GM's 9.2 million.

But hey, it's not like Dancing Moron learned ACTUAL math in school. Another fine fucking product of the American educational system.

mnottertail -> RE: The ignorance of liberals (7/16/2014 7:08:46 AM)

Ja, so the rest of the globe has competition, with the rest of the globe, but us, who fostered and built our economy on that idea, does not. Got it. I thought you were gonna hide me, and I was so looking forward to it, so I could disdain your moronic asswipe with impunity.

Perhaps you need to revisit the English language. In your toilet licking world of cretinism, you maybe don't know the necessary and sufficient conditions to define the phrase American competition. Get back to me when you can cease spouting geysers of stupidity only.

This is about the ignorance of liberals, but we have these many pages in which it is only the nutsackers demonstrating their whole cloth ignorance.
