Press Mostly Ignoring Feinstein's Warning That ISIS Wants 'To Attack Us in Our Backyard'

Yesterday, Roll Call and The Hill both relayed Democratic Senator Dianne Feinstein's call, in Roll Call's words, "for a broader military campaign against ISIL, not just the targeted missions authorized by the president." She believes it is needed because "It has become clear that ISIL is recruiting fighters in Western countries ... and possibly returning them to European and American cities to attack us in our backyard."

Searches at their web sites indicate that the Associated Press and New York Times have not reported Feinstein's stark warning, which directly contradicts the President's January ridicule of ISIL/ISIS as the equivalent of junior varsity basketball players. At the Politico, in a worry-wart piece on "Obama's liberal problem," Seung Min Kim and Jeremy Herb shamefully omitted Feinstein's "in our backyard" warning — while covering the rest of what she said.

Feinsteins warning:

quote:

Senate Intelligence Chairwoman Dianne Feinstein warned Friday of the risk that the insurgent group ISIL could be preparing fighters to attack American and European targets.

“It has become clear that ISIL is recruiting fighters in Western countries, training them to fight its battles in the Middle East and possibly returning them to European and American cities to attack us in our backyard,” the California Democrat said in a statement backing military action authorized by President Barack Obama. “We simply cannot allow this to happen.”

Feinstein called for a broader military campaign against ISIL, not just the targeted missions authorized by the president.

“It takes an army to defeat an army, and I believe that we either confront ISIL now or we will be forced to deal with an even stronger enemy in the future. Inaction is no longer an option. I support actions by the administration to coordinate efforts with Iraq and other allies to use our military strength and targeting expertise to the fullest extent possible,” Feinstein said.

And based on their actions, I think it is way to early to start this hysteria.

Musicmystery -> RE: ISIS Destroying Relics (8/9/2014 9:16:20 AM)

Well, the warlords aren't taking ISIS seriously either.

Mainly, because dividing Iraq into Shiite, Sunni, and Kurdish factions serves everybody's purpose but the Iraqi and Western governments. Note they are primarily in a sectarian swath down the middle. And the Kurds are already trying to sell Kurdish oil on the world markets (and having trouble, since other governments, including the US, won't recognize it, and consider it stolen Iraqi oil).

If that changes, and ISIS gets imperialistic, they will have their hands full at home.

Saturday from the White House South Lawn, President Barack Obama blamed "intelligence estimates" for not anticipating the speed in which ISIS would capture large sections of Iraq.

The president, who has been under harsh media criticism for likening ISIS to an Al-Qaeda JV basketball team in January said, "There is no doubt that their advance their movement over the last several of months has been more rapid than the intelligence estimates and I think the the expectation of policy makers both in and outside of Iraq."

BEIRUT (AP) — A cleric read the verdict before the truck came and dumped a large pile of stones near the municipal garden. Jihadi fighters then brought in the woman, clad head to toe in black, and put her in a small hole in the ground. When residents gathered, the fighters told them to carry out the sentence: Stoning to death for the alleged adulteress.

None in the crowd stepped forward, said a witness to the event in a northern Syrian city. So the jihadi fighters, mostly foreign extremists, did it themselves, pelting Faddah Ahmad with stones until her body was dragged away.

"Even when she was hit with stones she did not scream or move," said an opposition activist who said he witnessed the stoning near the football stadium and the Bajaa garden in the city of Raqqa, the main Syrian stronghold of the Islamic State group.

The July 18 stoning was the second in a span of 24 hours. A day earlier, 26-year-old Shamseh Abdullah was killed in a similar way in the nearby town of Tabqa by Islamic State fighters. Both were accused of having sex outside marriage...

He also said (during the 2008 campaign) that Iran was no threat to anyone and there was no reason to worry about them.

One day, when you're tired of reading (and believing) right-wing silly sites, perhaps you'll discuss the realm of news reporting.

Though it's interesting to see you believing and defending a Senate Democrat.

Iraq can't hold itself together. I can't imagine how it's a threat to anyone else.

You, you, you... [:D]

Will the little trollish creatures here never tire of trying to make me the topic... [:D]

I commonly use the BBC, the New York Times, Time, all kinds of news sources. AP isn't right wing, to the contrary. And if you are crying specifically about the Breitbart link I provided, you look pretty stupid trying to deny the video of Barack saying exactly what Breitbart reported.

If you don't like Roll Call, Feinsteins words can be verified easily enough with a simple Google search

And that I report on what Feinstein feels is of critical importance in this unfolding story is proof enough of the diversity of my sources of information

Unless you are just a mindless little troll whose only real interest is trying to derail yet another thread, and stifle any meaningful debate

I have never looked for the song so no I haven't found it anywhere. Not sure why you feel the need to lie and claim I did. You are also lying when you claim I defended the song anywhere. In fact I stated that I thought it was a hateful song. You were the one who referred to it as comedy though I can't for the life of me see what you find funny about it. But keep spinning your wheels, I am sure a few of your loyal friends will back you up even when you lie.

You really are fucking ignorant.

I never said you looked for it, I said, and you posted it, that you were "unable to find it" As for your bullshit about me finding the song "comedy" this just shows how much of a lying shit you actually are. If you recall you and others are upset because I called the song racist. surely even an arsehole such as yourself can see that. I have never claimed you defended the song either, thats just more projectionist bollocks. That said I did, and still do, say you are defending racism.

When you constantly put yourself up for public ridicule by making no contribution to discussion.

I commonly use the BBC, the New York Times, Time, all kinds of news sources.

For what purpose? Since you do not discuss or make a point. All we hear from you is your constant puking rhetoric against those not in your possie.

Unless you are just a mindless little troll whose only real interest is trying to derail yet another thread, and stifle any meaningful debate

That would seem to be a rather autobiographical statement.

I'm sorry, but how exactly is the song racist? I'll give you that it's insensitive and more then a bit repugnant, but I don't see it as inherently racist.

Because it calls Martin a thug? Thug isn't a word applied solely to one race. (and from what I've read Martin was a bit of a thug, or at least a thug in training) Because it says his hoodie is bloody? A hoodie isn't something worn by any single race, hell Daisy's ex GF was white, blond, and blue-eyed and wore hoodies all the the time. And I believe Martin was wearing one at the time of his death, so...

Other then your assertions that you found it on on a white supremacist site (which you later admitted wasn't true), what makes it racist?

Another one who feels some comedy song about a dead black kid not to be racist.

And yes, I did only find part of it on a racist web site........ maybe one of you fucking clowns could show me anywhere else you have found part of it ?

But then again maybe you don't read what you wrote. I can't say I would blame you.

Musicmystery -> RE: ISIS Destroying Relics (8/9/2014 9:52:24 PM)

Well, in that case, I can't imagine why you're so poorly informed on the matter that you'd suspect I'd need to have an inside connection to Feinstein.

Maybe you should use those sources more often.

I didn't post that you had an inside connection to Feinstein. You pretend to have better information than she about ISIS, so I was inquiring about your credentials to preach to us on the subject. Again, she chairs the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence.

You?

Apparently you aren't familiar with the realm of news reporting, beyond parroting a few names.

Okay, the answer is nada

You pull everything you preach out of the crack of your ass

Thanks for the reply
