Playing Taliban with many of Iraq's ancient relics (destroying them)

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2685923/Shocking-moment-ISIS-militants-sledgehammers-Mosul-tomb-Prophet-Jonah-50-blindfolded-bodies-massacred-south-Baghdad.html

If the USA won't stop them, and Barack has signaled that he doesnt care... Will they be stopped at any point?

How many more lives is that sandbox worth to you? It's not worth any to me. I don't care how expensive gas gets.

I didn't write that we should send soldiers in, though Obama yawned and went golfing again when Iraq was asking for mere air support to help stop these marching al-Qaeda allies

I see you are complaining about the cost of lives, but did you stop to think about how ISIS is butchering at will, and wonder how far will they go, or do you care only about white people. And why would you assume that a strong al-Qaeda will never attack us again?

The bigger picture indicates that ISIS would like to kill all people who don't subscribe to their ideology and the bigger question is not, will WE stop them but, will they be stopped by anyone.

DomKen -> RE: ISIS Destroying Relics (7/10/2014 4:51:59 AM)

If ISIS ever acts up after they take over Iraq they would be a country. We are real good at fucking up countries. We can remind them of that. Beyond that we should stay the fuck out of there.

Before you commit any more young people's bodies for oil I want you to go to a VA hospital and see what a decade of war has done. It simply isn't worth the cost.

mnottertail -> RE: ISIS Destroying Relics (7/10/2014 5:41:20 AM)

Its the Daily Mail. There is some hard hitting factual reporting for ya. EE-YUL!!! EE-YUL!!!! EE_YUL!!!! Americans should wait until it is reported in the Enquirer. You know how those Commie Brits twist everything to their agenda as they try to destroy America with their Sharia Law.

ReblogMe -> RE: ISIS Destroying Relics (7/10/2014 5:59:59 AM)

Why is ISIS doing this more of an issue than Blackwater looting and destroying every relic they could find during the occupation?
I'm surprised those douches left anything for the current idiots to destroy...

Exactly how much oil did our soldiers sneak out of Iraq in their canteens, ken?

As if you give a fuck about ancient relics in the middle east......... Your boy George kicked all this off in Iraq, along with Blair. No doubt you will continue to blame Obama though.

All the Dems such as Bill and Hill, Gore, Kerry, etc etc etc were on board, giving speeches about the extreme dangers of Saddam Hussein, bombing him, sponsoring legislation calling for his overthrow, voting to authorize the invasion, voting to fund the invasion

But leftists and reality don't play well together, do they

Its all a political game to them

Leftists don't care about people, or ancient historical artifacts, anything... So long as they can throw some mud around and con the people out of enough votes to gain the power they crave

But the plan was to take all of Iraq's oil. the documentation has been out there for quite some time and American oil services companies did get quite rich rebuilding Iraq's oil industry.

I see. HuffnPoo told you there was a vast secret conspiracy, and you know for a fact that everything worth doing is supposed to be done for free, regardless of how dangerous...

I suppose you volunteered to dodge the bullets and the bombs in order to help get the Iraqi people up and running on oil revenues free of charge?

Oh, wait - you don't think the lives of the Iraqi people or the many ancient relics in Iraq are worth anything, especially not any personal risk on your part

I almost forgot

Bush, Cheney, Wolfowitz, Bremer and the rest of the them told us. All you have to do is actually read their own words. I know that is too much for you so try watching this:

DrProgressive -> RE: ISIS Destroying Relics (7/11/2014 3:25:46 AM)

Are you kidding me?

They might as well have shipped U.S. weapons directly from Washington to ISIS rebels, the so called U.S.-trained Iraqi Army left behind their weapons and equipment and fled, to the chagrin of many of its officers. I read a report that stated there were units ready to fight and yet were ordered to retreat. It was a command to disband. Who gives that kind of command?

If Iraq had a legitimate government, where Maliki's influence extended outside of Baghdad, this would not be a problem. But the government in Iraq, is more complicated than a system designed by a thousand buerarcrats and their staff lawyers--and ironically, the system is not even followed since some Shia cleric is more powerful than the so-called "elected" government. Factor in a Kurdish militia that is more trained and battle-ready than the national army, and yet hellbent on secession, and you have a recipe for disaster without guys like ISIS needed.

Of course, the government in Iraq is just as much a farce as the government in Afghanistan, where Karzai is not worth a dime outside of Kabul, and even within it, does not have much influence in comparison to the various war lords and the Taliban.

You mean it wasn't free of charge? A plan to liberate the Iraqi people and help usher in democracy to the Middle East? Yeah, I thought it was to get the "Weapons of Mass Destruction". But the neocon folks keep changing the story, I do not know what it is any longer.

I am sorry, I do not remember the Iraqi people asking for anyone to "dodge bullets" or "help" them. Come to think about it, have you considered that the fact there were bullets flying might be that they don't want certain people there? Ahmad Chalabi does not constitute a majority or even a decree for the will of the Iraqi people, neither does a video clip of Iraqis cheering that a statue of Saddam Hussein went down. If a couple of guys that go on TV constitute a majority or the will of the people, then we have a problem, China or Russia might see some Occupy Wall Street guys on TV and assume they need assistance overthrowing the U.S. government.

In regards to the oil, I do not think any Iraqis wanted their oil to be under the control of Wolfy & Dick & Co, the reality is the Iraqis, regardless of whether they are Shia or Sunni (or even Kurd for that matter) are very concerned with their natural resources. Before Saddam was in power in Baghdad, the Iraqi President Abd al-Karim Qasim made a ridiculous statement: He wanted to nationalize Iraqi oil--take it away from the Anglo-American company that was giving him and his country kibbles and bits. For that, the CIA as later revealed by the Church Committee report, attempted to assassinate him and sprang up programs to bring his downfall. This was in the 1960s--How about we end intervention there? Maybe just take a quick breather?

If the Russians or the Chinese ran a program to foment the overthrow of the U.S. government, be it through a group such as Occupy or another group of their own creation, there would be an executive order exponentially more severe to American liberty than the Patriot Acts. Yet, we point our fingers and say, "Look, they gots a dictator there!" Yeah, they have dictators, its a natural response to constant war, espionage, covert action, regime change, and a list of other violations committed since the decline of the Ottoman Empire.

Those dictators were a thousand times more preferable than some radical, crazy, Islamic Jihadist group that beheads people if they do not pray a certain way.
