ORIGINAL: LookieNoNookie Wow....you continue to amaze me every time with your take on things. Two brothers received a settlement (not one). It was for 1.1 billion dollars. They walked away and later sued again after the remaining two brothers had taken Dad's firm from it's lesser stature to one that today, is a global empire. They lost the suit. Any way you shake it, you're not even close to the facts (as usual). You need to check I have the facts right. I have no idea where you get anything about a previous suit. The 2001 suit was not lost. Chuck and David were losing and settled after getting caught stealing from the tribe and a bunch of other bad things and paid William to go away. I think it's time for someone to support his claim. Don't care which one of you does it, either. http://www.villagevoice.com/2011-08-24/news/william-bill-koch-the-other-koch-brother-tea-party/full/ quote:
In 2001, Bill Koch finally won a victory against his brothers. Koch Industries paid $25 million to the federal government in a settlement deal; in return, the feds dismissed charges that the company stole oil from Native American and federal lands. Bill Koch and his co-plaintiff shared $7.4 million, according to the Click|keyword[The+Center+for+Public+Integrity]">Center for Public Integrity. That year, Bill, David, and Charles also signed an undisclosed settlement that ended the legal battles among them and helped repair their relationship. From your link: quote:
In 1979, the Koch brothers celebrated their last Christmas together. The next year, Bill tried unsuccessfully to seize control of the board of Koch Industries. An epic legal battle followed. Bill sued Charles and David for corporate mismanagement. They fired back with a libel suit. In 1983, Bill and Frederick Koch sold their shares of the company to Charles and David, and Bill walked away with $470 million. But two years later, after his bankers crunched the numbers, Bill decided he'd gotten a raw deal. He sued again, demanding more money. For nearly two decades, his lawsuits against his brothers piled up. Things got ugly. At one point, Bill subpoenaed his elderly mother to testify a few months after she had a stroke. He also filed a whistle-blower suit accusing Koch Industries of stealing crude oil from Native American lands; it would drag on for years. So, Bill sued for corporate mismanagement. What was the outcome of the that suit? The article doesn't state the outcome of that trial. Bill and Frederick sold their shares of the business, with Bill getting $470M. But that wasn't enough, so he sued again. What was the outcome of that lawsuit? Were the sales part of the outcome of the mismanagement lawsuit? With the second lawsuit being that Bill (and Frederick?) lost? Sounds like Bill was lawsuit happy, too. How many lawsuits did he win/lose against his brothers? I think it may be possible that the lawsuits you and Zonie are arguing about aren't the same lawsuits. Yes it does. That is the set of suits that Chuck and David eventually settled with Bill to get him to go away in 2001 for an undisclosed amount. Notice the second paragraph of what I quoted?
