Actually it will, With the influx of new people being fucking stupid, comming out to real life play parties playing I want to injure my sub with my great awesome 50 shades power. It does Affect anyone that Dms, it affects the mood of play parties and it affects the general vibe, if the DMS have to stop 10 scenes when before they stopped perhaps one a night, it changes how everything is perceived.. Makes it a heavier air that feels a bit suffocating...

Now if your magically lucky to never have to play at a public event.... not so much of the affecting of you... For those of us who only play at public events.... its going to fucking suck...

Also with the influx of newbies heavier players like myself are told to "turn it down" at a lot of the events that have the new influx of newbies so that we dont make the little fuckers piss their pants...or we need to have 4 to 5 DMs monitor the scene to explain to the newbies, why the sledge hammer crow bar cricket bat and steel baseball bat, are really in fact toys...

Which means either I dont get my freak on or have to answer endless questions after when im trying to ride my high, which makes me cranky.....

So YES the influx of 50 shades does affect me, and will affect local communities.....

Weren't we all newbies at one time? Someone being a newbie doesn't mean they're going to be fucking stupid or piss their pants with what they see. Didn't something spark our interest in the lifestyle at some point before we actually got involved, a book, movie, our own fantasies?

Actually Yes it does because its happened, My 3 last scenes was stopped because it was too "edgy" and the newbies were getting scared or upset...

Weve had an influx of new people who are 50 Shaders......

With that influx in my scene alone weve had a 60% increase of consent violations and a 40 % increase in permanent or long term injuries...

THATS A FUCKING PROBLEM.... It might not be to you... but people being damaged for life... Is a problem.... People being raped and having their safewords violated... IS A PROBLEM... People loosing their jobs because of a kinky injury IS A PROBLEM

But then... Most people making comments of "its okay" Dont see it happening real life at the play parties because they dont go....

FR

I don't really see the big concern about "vanilla" people hurting themselves or getting up to what they shouldn't be through reading the book. Have you ever seen Pinterest, for pete's sake? Some of the filth I've come across while looking for crochet patterns and quiche recipes is far more potentially damaging than this book is.

FR Again.

This was kind of funny, for those of you who haven't read it already. Sorry if it's been posted here already.

An excerpt:

So anyway, early in the book Anastasia meets the main male character, Christian Grey. He is average-looking.

Hah! I am of course joking. He is the handsomest man in the history of men. Lest we forget this crucial fact, Anastasia remarks on Christian’s handsomeness at least once every two pages. Her inner goddess repeatedly s—s her tiny imaginary leotard over the hotness of this man.

FR (not a reply to Gauge)

The skies will fall. The seas will rise. Cats and dogs will get along! LOL

Seriously?

What's with all the scared-y cats around here?

In the Real Life, local BDSM community - everywhere (please do some NCSF reading to catch up on this fact) - avoidable, preventable injuries and deaths occur. And that was true before 50 Shades.

For those who feel annoyed because they were told to scale back from the edge in public places... hey, get creative and open your own place! What a concept, huh? Stop the whining and you might clear up some space to actually think of a way to make it happen. But, you can't get near that kind of personal power if you indulge in whining about the rules enforced under someone else's roof. Take some responsibility, you know? Newbies and business owners are not limiting your kink. YOU ARE.

If 50 Shades newbies glut the clubs and that means more education, I'd prefer their company to the hostile, immature, close-minded whiners. Do they really think a business owner should not respond to an increase in the market?

And, just to take it a bit further... when you open your own club, are you going to make decisions that limit your profit and viability? Like, require new members to explain what brought them to the club door or deny membership or entry to who? newbies with two or more years of experience which they can verify? LOL Or, maybe you'd like to require the reading of different books to be allowed entry? Are you getting how ridiculous you sound?

Besides being blatantly inhospitable to fellow humans, the whiners seem to have an entitlement issue. Much like a teenager who needs to hear, "My house, my rules."

IMO, take your paddles and whips home and come back when you learn some respect for other people. Really, you'll be far more interesting then.

Who's fault is that??

That would be the dominants (like yourself) who are violating the subs' consent or inflicting injuries because they don't know what they are doing.
That would be the Dom/me(s) personal/individual responsibility wouldn't it?

Blaming the newbies or 50-shades-of-shit is a cop-out.

Then I would say it's a problem with the venue and the people running it, not the fact it had some newbies.

Typical case of blame everyone else but themselves [8|]
