He did not say that. He said it changes the way you think. Anyone who disagrees has never had a loaded gun in their hand.
Bama has said on numerous occasions that a gun just adds another option, and I tend to agree.
No he has said on numerous occasions that without a gun he feels he is a target due to his inability to defend himself without a gun.
I've carried for years, longer if you count the time I was in the Army.
You did not "carry" in the army. When you were not actively using it at the range or on parade it was locked in the armory. Your access to ammo was even more severely restricted.
I try to avoid dangerous situations in the first place, but sometimes they're unavoidable. I've had times where I've had "vibes", and the first thing I do is try to get the hell out of there. Most of the time, that works, but there have been two times it hasn't. Even in those, I've never had to draw my gun or shot anyone, I just had to show that I was armed and that was the end of the problem. For the most part, I own guns because I enjoy shooting. I meet some friends and we go and shoot holes in paper. I'd be quite happy if I never have to use a gun for more then that.
But, if I'm ever in the situation where I have to kill someone to keep them from killing me or mine, then I want to be able to make that choice.
You brag that you like to shoot holes in paper but feel that you are unqualified to do other than kill an attacker. Maybe a little more practice and a little less blood lust might be in order.
