omg:( damn... I am not shocked... I know he had been thru some bad stuff, but enormously sad that he is gone, so very sad.... from mork n mindy to his standup, to his movies, one hell of a talented man who made me laugh and cry so hard. Thank you Robin, I hope you find your peace wherever you end up:(

A loss of a great comic genesis and a brilliant wit.

I will miss what work might have yet been.

Fuck.

Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck fuck.

This both saddens me and pisses me off. It saddens me to think that he felt so alone, so out of options that he saw no other way to go. It pisses me off because it was selfish of him to deprive us of his wit and the enjoyment of his future performances.

May whatever gods there are grant him peace.

I am too freaking shocked right now to process the tragic news--caught the Yahoo announcement half an hour ago (at 19:22) and I'm so distraught I can't even bring myself to read any links.
Robin was one of my favorite comedic actors, along with Jim Carrey. Who can forget "Patch Adams" or "Dead Poet's Society"?

I am shocked. I am truly saddened. RIP "O Captain My Captain."

Some of my all-time favorite movies are Robin Williams flicks. I am saddened to know that his pain and sadness was so deep that this was his only way of finding relief. I hope that he rests in the peace he couldn't find here on Earth

Its sad to think that someone who made so many people laugh was actually that unhappy.

Makes me thoughtful, your point precisely. I don't really feel anything about the news except that it's terrifying to think the level of his depression at the moment he decided this was best for him. I never understand people who get that upset about their lives unfortunately, seems narcissistic and selfish but then, there must be a profound loneliness and sadness that fogs all logic. It's too bad no one in his life cared enough to save him from himself, perhaps that was a part of it. Sometimes the only person one can rely upon is oneself, life isn't supposed to be fair. Unfortunate but true. All you can do is get stronger, be smarter, know better.

Ya know what? I get it (dated a few) that this disease fucks with...and it's debilitating, and horrible by any definition but...giving up is such a weak way out.

I loved this guy, everyone did, but, he just shit on not only his entire family, as well as millions of people who thought he was incredible. (And before anyone tells me I'm an asshole for not being more understanding....I get it.....and....this was such a puss way out.).

I'm gonna miss this guy like everyone else but, if he was standing in front of me...I'd slap the fuck out of him.

Funnier than shit but....stupid.

God bless him....you're missed bud (and I would slap the fuck out of you....in case you're reading this shit).

They filmed "Dead Poet's Society" not too far from where I live. But my favorite will always be "Good Will Hunting".

...and if you've never seen Robin Williams' appearance on "Inside the Actor's Studio", it's on YouTube
....amazing what he could do with a woman's scarf.....

I agree with everything above....

DAMN!!! The world of comedy has lost a one of the greatest ever and the world as a whole will be a little darker and colder without him. Such a shame for a man that had so much going right with his life.

The odd thing is that the "side effect" of many anti-depressants is suicidal thoughts. When someone is severely depressed, bottom of the barrel, cannot fall any further...they are usually not capable of organizing their thoughts or making and executing a plan. When they start the meds, they start getting better but that definition of "better" is still what most of us would consider horribly low. Unfortunately, the person is usually now capable of seeing the way out and figuring out HOW to do it...at the same time, the family has seen improvement and is no longer so vigilant..

As someone who has lived with a severely depressed person and has been through 2 suicide attempts...I feel for his wife and kids...
