Apparently DK thinks the same way but according to them only if you are a democrat. If you are a republican you can get id with no problem. That is why they keep screaming that requiring id is a ploy designed to stop democrats from voting.

The scheme "democrats" are claiming as I understand it is the ID check is a measure designed solely to increase the time it takes to vote thus further overwhelming certain polling stations which are already underfunded and overburdened and unsurprisingly also happen to be the ones which mostly aren't used by white people.

You need to listen to Democrats, they say it intimidates people and keeps them from voting, but only Democrats.

I dislike it on the grounds that those laws violate the 4th amendment. The evidence studied over the years is that voter fraud is so tiny as to be irrelevant in any of the last twenty years elections have taken place.

How do we know a person is a citizen?

You keep asking this question as though there is some kind of problem with the current state of affairs.

From where I sit, you have failed to demonstrate the existence of a problem with the current arrangements. As the adage goes, 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it'.

So please tell me what the problem is and if you can mount a convincing case, then it becomes productive to discuss solutions. Until then it's all just hot air and zero substance.

Actually it's only sometimes that. Although that has been a problem. See long lines in Florida and Ohio the last several elections.

The bigger problem is crafting the ID requirement so that poor people, old people and people of color are less likely to have the required ID and be put at hardship to get them.

Texas is the best example, the only allowed ID's are a valid US passport, an unexpired Texas DL or ID (only issued at DMV facilities), military ID and a concealed carry permit. Sounds pretty easy right? But Texas has relatively few DMV facilities and in the poorer parts of the state they can be over a 100 miles between them. That's a long trip for a person without a car. US passports are expensive so that leaves the CCW permit which even in Texas isn't free and involves taking a course. They've erected a pretty effective barrier against poor people voting while maintaining a semblance of reasonableness.

Let's see, I got divorced in May of 2012 and moved out, so... 2012. This mailbox has never, ever had my name on it, and I still get fucking mail. Imagine that.

I have this strange affliction that usually prevents me from speaking to my mail carrier. See, I work days. So, I'm not available when the mail carrier comes by. Before, I worked nights, and was sleeping when the mail carrier came by.

LMAO!! I wasn't going to mention that, but mine doesn't have numbers on the outside. It used to, but the stickers (sold in the area with the mailboxes) peeled off. The mail carrier ended up putting a label on the inside of the box with my number (still no name). So, technically, my mailbox has numbers, but not on the outside.

Can you say 'playing politics' with government resources (aka wasteful spending)?

I sure can.

You seem to be supporting the notion, Mr. I-Want-Limited-Government.....
Someone whom ACTUALLY wanted limited government would not support spending tax dollars chasing the political equivalent of the boogey man. The evidence from many studies on the topic show that voter fraud's frequency is so low as to be non-existence towards changing the outcomes of elections.

You have to be trying to be this fucking stupid.

Government acting in the ways it's supposed to act (a la preserving the right to vote of Citizens) is consistent with a limited government. The idea of a "limited" government is that it has it's powers limited (as opposed to have unlimited power), and that it's size is limited to what is needed to exercise those limited powers. But, do continue to remove all doubt about your being a fool.

Then your mail carrier is breaking the rules. But I really doubt that. You moved in and your mail started arriving with no change of address and you never put your name on the box, really? How precisely would anyone know you moved?

BTW you are not legally registered and are not legally voting legally please report yourself. Or do you want to retract that claim?

I have heard many theories but that's the first time I have heard that one. Almost makes the ones that came before it seem less ridiculous.

You're just digging in deeper, Ken.

Where did I ever say there wasn't a change of address form submitted?

Please cite the applicable rules the mail carrier is breaking.

I already did. It's also right on your voter ID card. Check the back side. The side that served as the postcard. Right under the return address it says "return service requested" that means the post office is only supposed to deliver to an address with that person's name and to actually return the card to the return address if it can't be delivered. It is a vital part of the election registration system.

But, do continue to remove all doubt about your being a fool.

An yet, you explained nothing that is tangible. Since I can argue, using your 'definition' of 'Limited Government', that the current government is indeed limited. If it was unlimited power, ISIS would not be in existence, the Tea Party would have been hanged by now, there would be no federal debt, taxes would be perfect, and citizens happen with said government. So obviously, we do not have an 'unlimited powers' government right now.

More importantly, the size of government doesn't have an bearing on whether its a 'Good' or 'Bad' government. Haiti had a small government and was completely wrecked by just one disaster. Yet, when a super hurricane hits America, the whole of the nation does not stop as well. Where as Russia is a big country, but its citizens live like 2nd world citizens. Its country side littered with toxic dumps of one kind or another (was will happen in this country should the EPA ever be removed). We have a good government that is the right size to handle the needs and wants of its people.

But yet, you can not give a good, reasonable argument for why to waste resources on voter ID laws, when voter fraud is so low in scale as to be rendered irrelevant. Someone for 'Limited Government' would not be in favor of unlimited government. But that's what your doing here!

Citation is only when speaking on something specific. For example, if I rattle of information from a study, I would give the source of that information. When information is widely known (i.e. The US Constitution), no citation is needed. Its been known and accepted....FOR DECADES....that having one's name and number on the mailbox helps the mailman deliver mail quicker. And that its each citizen's duty to help in that endeavor.
