Now, the typical Muslim doesn't want to save me. He wants to convert me, by any means necessary. And if I don't convert? Well, then he PERSONALLY is ready to send me straight to Hell. See there is a big difference between someone who believes I am going to Hell and someone committed to sending me there. Really? The average Muslim I meet - in fact, every Muslim I've ever met - has expressed no interest in converting me whatsoever. In fact, he's either been friendly or, much more often, not given a toss about me one way or another, so long as I've not tried to harm him in some way. Exactly like every Christian, Jew, Buddhist or indeed atheist. I'd make an exception for the Odinists I've met, though - as one might expect, given the violence of those Norse myths ... er, they've nearly always been friendly and easy-going (though I've never quite taken to their sandal-wearing and bad breath, frankly). Honestly, I find this religious determinism pretty implausible. Myself, I've found that if people have a comfortable life, they'll want to keep it - and that usually takes an effort to get along with people. That generally entails not trying to convert, torture or kill them. If they don't have a minimally-comfortable life; well, that's when trouble can start. I don't know, SD ... it's clear that you've picked up a lot from your reading. But, you know, I do think getting out and meeting people can be enriching to one's knowledge of them, too.
