Al Quaeda are against IS's beheadings.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/posteverything/wp/2014/08/22/even-al-qaeda-denounced-beheading-videos-why-the-islamic-state-brought-them-back/

Is it now time for the US to be funding and arming Al Quaeda?

If all this stuff weren't so frigging insane it would be hilarious ....

Al Qaeda opposing beheading, yes if it wasn't so insane that would be hilarious.

Umm. . . I do believe that their holy book says it is Kosher to lie to infidels. Is it really worth believing them?

As far as you can throw them (the whole organization that is)

I think we're now somewhat past the 'political correctness gone mad' charge and into the general area of 'safe assumption' that there are different sorts of Muslims who believe and do different sorts of things, Aylee.

I had a Nation of Islam member tell me that a Muslim who was elected president would be under no obligation to follow the Constitution as it is not based on the Koran. While you are no doubt correct that there are Muslims who do not think it is ok to lie to "infidels" it is also naive to think that radicals like ISIS are among them.

Ah yes. What was I thinking? Al Quaeda is known throughout the free world as the "misunderstood, peace loving, sort."

Actually they fit the mold that Muslims are supposed to work towards. So does IS. They are actually the "good" Muslims. The ones "doin' it right."

I misunderstood your use of the term "wacko" then.

Their dietary laws follow Kosher rules.

Yes, I know but they're also referred to as "Hal Al". Considering the animus between Muslims and Jews, I thought the use of "Kosher" was very pun-y.

True bit as everyone should know, vast portions of the Koran was lifted from
Judaism.
The three greatest prophets were, according to the Koran,(in order of importance) Mohammed, Christ, and Moses.

Wait.. you need to have it explained to you now?
I thought you were the fucking "expert".

Why don't you share some of your deep insight, fuck knows I need a good old belly laugh.

tweakabelle -> RE: Foreign Policy -- The Complicated Road Ahead (9/18/2014 2:51:32 AM)

I'm still waiting to have Bama's "deep understanding of jihad" outlined in detail.

Apparently this deep understanding thought that IS and Syria 's Assad were allies. Until someone pointed out that these two are actually fighting each other and have been doing so for a few years now, as anyone with any grasp of the relevant facts beyond the infinitesimally minute would already know.

If Bama's "deep understanding of jihad" is of a similar quality to his somewhat less than deep understanding of the situation in Syria, I fear we might have to resort to using microscopes to see it.

crazyml -> RE: Foreign Policy -- The Complicated Road Ahead (9/18/2014 3:03:24 AM)

Yeah, but don't do anything to put him off 'splainin it to us.

It's been a pretty long week, and I would so love a chuckle.

Was watching an old History Channel show last night. Part of it included the Ottoman Empire's assault on Malta, and the Knights of St. John's defense. Without going into detail about everything in that segment, they did say that neither side was willing to budge, and that anyone caught by the other was killed (aka there would be no prisoners). The Turks would take Christians and crucify them, mocking the crucifixion of Christ. The KoSJ would take the Turks, behead them and lob the heads back at the Turk armies. Apparently, Islam (at least as practiced by the Ottomans) considers beheading as a defilement.

Did al Qaeda become a "kinder and gentler" group? They didn't have a problem beheading people a decade or so ago.
