I am at my wits end!

Now a medical complication has arisen that behooves me to stop smoking cigarettes. I have a patch on and an e -cigarette, and yet the rigors of addiction still plague me. I have suicidal ideations, but I don't want to go like this. This is a slow death with days on end of discomfort.

Recently, a topic surfaced about the medicinal use of pain to fight addictions. Any thoughts? Specifically, I have watched canings and they seemingly are quite effective to correct behaviors. I come from a childhood of strict disciplinarian parents.

All other comments on more suitable means of ending my smoking addiction are welcomed. I hear of electric shock therapy (but this not prescribed for smokers), hypnotist and natural alternatives. I know you can make a tonic of tobacco to ingest, but I have not found any definitive regulation on the amounts of the tincture to be used. Tobacco tinctures are very lethal if not prepared properly.

You have all shared so much great advice on the BDSM COMMUNITY. I know there are naysayers out there, but does anyone have any progressive thoughts on corporal punishment for addictive behaviors. All responses are welcomed though. Thank you.

Chantix and caning both start with a C! The conversations are moving QUICK enough for me today. I figured that I would start a topic and see how it evolved rather smoking a cigarette. LOL

As to you ExiledTyrant, you are well versed and knowledgeable. Maybe not a person of many words indeed. But come on! One word answer? I respect that though. LOL

I also notice that you rarely give an opinion (not your style). However, you admonish anyone with incredible insensibities. You can do better than one word. Lol

Would you have preferred a sonnet? You asked, I answered. I would've recomended hypnosis, but I don't know you well enough to say if it is an option.

I tried Chantix and even tho I didn't feel the urge to smoke I became a very how do you say my personality changed and not for the good either..... I was majorly homicidal, suicidal and all the bad things they give as reasons not to take it ... so my dr. took me off of it immediately... cold turkey is the only way to do it .... that's how I feel... which is why I haven't stopped yet....

Googling Chantix and talking to myself.

I am arosed by watching caning. As to myself, I am not sure I wish to endure the scenario. Is there anyone else? I feel like Brad Pit in the movie Troy. Hopefully my reference is not incorrect.

I roll my own cigarettes. Cost effective and supposedly much healthier than chemically processed cigarettes. I'm having a bout with anxiety as I stare at the the tobacco.

They market those blue pills here as Champix.
Not cheap unless you can get them for free on a stop-smoking drive.
I have used these and stopped smoking completely after 3 days and stopped taking the pills after 2 weeks.
3 months later, I decided to start smoking again.
Not because I felt I had to, I just wanted to.

Years ago, I tried cold turkey. Not nice. I was smoking again within 4 days.
I tried hypnosis... useless.
I tried the gum and patches... useless.
I then tried acupuncture and surprisingly, it worked!!
I went from 60 a day to 3 on the first day and none after that.

If you don't want any side effects, I would recommend acupuncture.

These days I use a mixture of e-cigs (with 16mg nicotine) and real cigs.

The reason you are having trouble quitting smoking is that you are continuing to feed nicotine into your system via patches and "electronic" cigarettes. You are addicted to nicotine, not cigarettes. Cigarettes are just the preferred delivery system. Quit all forms of nicotine and go through the withdrawal process (2 weeks at most). Would you advise a person trying to quit alcohol or heroin to keep taking alcohol or heroin while they are "quitting"?

Or if you'd rather convince yourself that BDSM is the answer, have at it.

Epsom salt bath will help draw the nicotine from your body.

My doctor says that's an old wive's tale and doesn't work.

Which is why they no longer prescribe placebos.

Acupuncture. Worth looking into.

I like caning for more reasons than nicotine withdrawal. LOL. OH the other problem, I am a bonafide alcoholic. In fact, I'm drinking as we speak. I feel the blood clots forming in my legs and arms again. Alcohol and meds, yet my blood still thickens. I'm okay though. I must get my mind off of these addictions though. I have actually been in this lifestyle since 2007 at least on different message boards. I assure my inclination to watch canines is older than my recent medical condition. Great advice though. The question is do I have the will.

I have always believed in the power of Epsom salt and listerine as that magic bullet for all that ails you. Now to find an actual bath tub in this contemporary setting of NYC. GothAm City revival.

I smoked for 44 years. I stopped in January after a 10 day stint in the hospital. Simply put them down. you can't do that? guess you'll die a slow death then won't you. pick out a nice casket and a favorite person to deliver your eulogy. Here lies the dumbass who couldn't stop smoking to save his ass

Heard chantix does work wonders for some, with little anxiety. I tried it and I couldn't take it the nightmares were incredible. A friend tried acpuncture and she swore by it. The doc left a pin in her ear for a few days and told her to move it every time she had a desire to smoke. He removed it she never smoked again.
I'm yet to try it, I smoke too. I enjoy smoking but years of it is paying it's toll. I think you have to be ready to quit and go through the pain.

Friends of mine used acupuncture, the patch, Wellbutrin and cold turkey.

You have to want to stop and deal with it.

Caning may interest you but it's not a cure.
