Caning has it's own medical repercussions. I finally started staying away from it after a doctor tried to refuse to put me on birth control because of the blood clotting risk of me always coming in with heavy bruising present.

Smoking, never had a problem with but then I don't buy the whole addiction mantra, I think that's the same as saying "I don't want to quit" I mean, I really like ice cream and don't care it's bad for me... should I quit earing it, maybe but I'll cut down to once a month or substitute pudding instead. It's the same thing. If you want to quit anything it can't be for someone else, you really have to want to quit. Then it's not difficult at all.

Be greatful you are addicted to nicotine and not heroin, always a plus side.

Yes I am very grateful DerangedUnit.

I'm glad you mentioned the caning as well. Besides the gratification you may have derived from it when you did play, did you feel more apt to obey or or more open to commands after that part of the session was over?

Hope you remain smoke free today. Maybe I will quit one day.

Here I go, with some mama advice lol. People do what they want, Lord knows I do.
Caning is the last thing you should be getting! Totally dangerous. Everyone is different but if I was trying to quit smoking and someone caned me Id smoke a whole pack. Id be so pissed off.

Done with lecture, lectures don't work. I know because my mother would lecture me, and I knew she was right. But guess what? Id smoke twice as many cigarettes after the lecture. lol.

Good luck! Try hypnosis or acupuncture or medication. Better for you!

HeartAndSoul31 that is very sweet. :). Warm but honest experience. Yes, I'm quite stubborn after a lecture too. It's 9:00 AM here and my morning craving for a smoke has not kicked in yet. No patch or e-cig yet either. So far so good. Thanks for reaching out in such a loving manner.

ya know. in whatever manner anyone reaches out. it's because they give a shit that they reach out at all. I may not come across as the most compassionate sort. But our stories are so similar when it comes to the CHF (cept my pump was down to 22% which today it's at 46% average is 55% and I don't drink alcohol at all haven't for 25yrs I really loathe hangovers anyway as I was saying before I sidetracked myself) ya simply gotta stop. Quitting comes from stopping. The hospital stay did it for me. After I realized just how close to death I really was. I've almost passed from this earth several times too. But this one scared the livin shit outta me. I still crave a cigarette every once in a while. But I didn't do the e-cigs or patch or anything. Just cold turkey. It's the only way I know to do if you're going to quit something. But I'm living proof you can recover from this enough that you live a fairly good life. CHF is not a death sentence. But ya gotta do a healthy low sodium diet (god I miss salt, I think I miss salt more than I miss tobacco). Curtail the drinking. Take your vitamins. Exercise daily. Really commit to being healthy. Each day it gets easier. But it's no walk in the park no matter how you cut it. Although if you keep at it, you'll be able to take a really long walk in the park

ChrchofDrk, I know what you mean. Thank you as well for reaching out. I'm just a sucker for mommy affection and protection.

You say 22%? Wow that is a sure death sentence. My mothers drop to 16% and she never smoke or drank...or even ate a lot of salt. The doctors gave her two weeks to live. Her only request (since she refused surgery with a 85% fail rate) was to die in her home. I quit my job and left my family to make sure that happened. I took care of her for a year and a half and she lived almost to her third year. She called me her lifesaver like the candy. It made me feel warm when I felt no one cared about me. I guess we nursed each other back to health. She said son do not harm yourself; it is the only sin God will never forgive you for because life is a gift. She was a very religious southern Christian woman that I honored heart and soul.

I came back to NYC determined to fight my negatIve thoughts and stay in positive and healthy situations. So much for that lol...sometimes your own family can be your worst enemy. I thought even that I would never cope with my mothers death. I am still striving though and strengthened by her words more than anyone.

Thanks again for reaching out! I appreciate all the concern even if I don't mention you by name.

I quit cold turkey after having a medical issue caused by smoking. Oh, believe me if Y/your told you may again have cancer and have surgery pending Y/you will quit, it's much better than the alternative! I had to also stop being around my smoking friends, as second hand smokes was killing me! Take the money you save by not smoking and put it in a jar. .50. For every cig you do not smoke and see how it can add up into a nice vacation the end of the year! It's terrible going cold turkey but take it from me food taste better and more... ;-).

Kittyinchains that should read "not smoking.". I think you figured it though. I have found ice chips helpful and reading this message board keeps me preoccupied. I am still awaiting further assessment before I start to exercise. Walking around every couple of hours is helping with that.

FR

I quit smoking cigarettes for seven years, I had to totally isolate myself for 2 full weeks with no access to them and I had to change a lot of habits. Things like coffee because coffee = smoking to me, so I drank tea instead. Stopping at a red light had always meant lighting up. Right after meals. All those ingrained smoking moments had to be altered.

What also helped was throughly cleaning my home, getting every trace of gross nicotine stains gone gone gone. Same with my car.

It took a lot of walking off the physical stress, a lot of brushing my teeth (for that clean feeling lol) and a lot of struggle. It was nearly a full year before the physical and mental need for nicotine slowed down.

E-cigs did nothing for me at all. I also couldn't taper down on smoking because I could rationalize just one extra one far too easily. Cold turkey.

Unfortunately I started smoking after seven years and am still going strong. Maybe caning would help :D

Caning in the mouth. Genius!

Spot Goddess Manko and Guage! I have been diagnosed with congestive heart failure and hospitalized for a bi lateral pulmonary embolism from blood clots in my legs that travel to my heart. I thought it was a heart attack. The doc said I had everything except a heart attack. There is very liattle oxygen in my blood. My heart is pumping at 35%. I have to remain active each day but avoid vigorous activity.

I keep my sense of humor. I write about and disclose my medical condition in a joking way as therapy. I need better coping skills. I dance with death frequently. I want to win and stay alive, I just keep fucking up. I laugh to laugh at that. Trust me, I do take it serious. Thanks for the encouraging words. I will take them to heart. I am being seen by many doctors. I prefer natural healing, but nothing prepared me for this event even though I eat and treat with healthy stuff. Ironically, it is my love of eating green vegetables (vitman K source) that has perpetuated the condition resistant to my blood thinning.

:)

Now back to this caning obsession. I think the magic is in the woosh sound and the pop sound as it contacts the flesh. Ah...like the sound of music. It is very arousing.

I'm not caning anyone who has a history of emboli. :-/

I gave up after reading this book: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Allen-Carrs-Easy-Stop-Smoking/dp/0718194551

Everything just slotted into place after I read this and there was no reason to smoke any more.

Thanks for the helpful comments and advice everyone.

Update: this is my ninth day without a cigarette. This is my seventh day without any ecig puffs. My nicotine patch is being used sporadically rather than everyday. Only at times of pure desperation do I reach for the patch. One of the biggest things that has been helping to deal with the overwhelming stress of withdrawal symptoms from not smoking is a self induced chant: I AM NOT A SMOKER.

Unfortunately, my physical and mental issues remain on the decline. However, I remain positive and focused. It is my goal to not have expectations, but credit myself for each little achievement. I don't expect miracles, I know and confess the willful damage I have done to get to this point. I am thankful.
