For an allegedly smart guy, this Gruber character is quite the dumbass motherfucker, isn't he? As of this typing, we are up to three videos of him bragging about how the ACA was dependent upon people being stupid and misled for passage.

Do check out his initial "apology" visit on MSNBC. Even those administration fluffers can't wipe this guy down.

It will be interesting to see how far it splatters, and how deep the damage goes.

(Just Google the title of the thread, if this place is your primary source of news.)

Not stupid, arrogant.

Stupid is his word, Bama. While I can see arrogance in him running around, running his mouth, the way he did (and who knows how much more this Weinstein guy has compiled), I think he moves into dumbass territory.

These revelations are going to shake more than just the foundation of Obamacare. Having liberal contempt for the governed rolled out like this could reshape the Presidential field of 2016.

This will also likely impact the SCOTUS case (Halbig, I think), torpedoing any reading of the ACA as allowing subsidies for the Federal exchange.

While you have a point, the arrogance comes in that he believes that this will not have any effect. He trusts the media to cover for him like they have since day one of this administration.

Having him repeatedly on the record about intent to deceive certainly won't help the government's case, when they claim it's all just a typo...

I hope not.

I was just thinking that. We've seen the media scrub much larger messes than this away as if they'd never happened. And I have to admit that I'm beginning to have some questions. When smart people start doing obviously stupid things I no longer scratch my head and wonder why. Rather, I assume I'm looking at the Kabuki shadow play and wonder what's actually going on.

I agree on your assessment of the man, he's a real piece of work. And it should be interesting to see how some will defend him and try to blame this on the right.

He does have a point, though. A lot of voters really are stupid. The results of every election demonstrate this every time.

I'm not sure how much damage there could be from this. Would the voters be insulted by this? Are they laboring under the delusion that they're actually smart? Will the revelation that they're stupid burst their bubble and cause their reality to come crashing down?

I've often thought, if I was ever going to run for political office, I'd probably tell the voters that they were stupid. Kind of like how punk bands used to abuse their audiences back in the day: "You all suck!" I wouldn't expect to win, but it might be loads of fun.

I am surprised that more democrats and liberals are not upset about being called "stupid" and "exploited."

I dont see why, here is an essentially apolitical guy, speaking in forms that are not politically correct, but saying stuff that both sides of this question has said in one form or another here, as well as many politicians with a great deal more tact.

Bill O'Reilly said essentially the same thing on Faux Nuze and nutsuckers were masturbating until the skin came off their poles in agreement, in a get out the vote sort of way. Nevertheless the turnout was pathetic.

He is fundamentally an apparatchik (a techno-bureaucrat) who was heavily involved in Romneycare and Obamacare.

I do not think that he developed this late outlook only when dealing with a democrats. I believe he held the same thought when he was 'republican'.

Much ado about nothing. A great number of people believe the electorate is fuckin stupid. He said (and not just this once) what we all think.

You have to remember that most liberals favored this and felt that whatever was needed to get the rest of us to go along was ok.
They assume that they are not among the stupid.

You need someone to explain the legislative process in the United States, they didn't need 'you guys' to go along. They didn't even need to ask you guys what you thought. And they didn't.

Now, they aint gonna ask us when the new legislature does whatever they want.

why is it gonna splatter anywhere at all? come next election time, those that voted D in the last 2 elections will once again vote D.. and I expect both parties will have made all sorts of promises that they don't have any intention of keeping (at least in the same form as originally promised).. its the same thing that has gone on for decades tho.. now.. what was the definition of "insanity"? doing the same thing over and over again but expecting a different result??? so they (American voters) are both "stupid" and "insane".. just sayin'..

And if the Republican tide continues, particularly if small government types gain ground?
Of course we are stupid and insane, we are only Americans after all.

I didn't say all Americans.. just those that vote and expect their vote to do what they actually want it to.. How many times do I have to repeat that if a politicians lips are moving, they are lying... the sane & smart ones are those that buy those slimy politicians from both parties and get exactly what they want and what their bribery dollars have bought them..
