Oh, the one choice that didn't resonate?

There was a question mark. It was a kinder choice than Arranging gang bangs? Or Heading the Achievable Fetish & Kink Subcommittee of the FL BDSM Committee?

FR GotSteel seems like a decent person on this note. He might not pander for popularity/validation as well as the rest of us like a good wittle boy (shame on you! behave! juggle and ride that damn unicycle for the pat on the back you know you want!) but he definitely seems like he has a good head on his shoulders until otherwise is displayed. I'm such a smart ass sometimes, sorry for that, LOL.

So just in case somebody hasn't heard my spiel by now I'm often horrified by the way new posters are treated around here. Upon stating this in the past I've received the response that usually the new poster does something to instigate the responses and I think that's true.

Sometimes it's the case that the poster has an uncommon kink that doesn't fit in around here, but should we really be throwing rocks over that, seems to me an awful lot like we're living in a glass house on this one.

Sometimes the poster stumbles onto a hotbutton topic, but really how can we reasonably expect someone new to know where all the mines are buried?

Sometimes it's that the poster makes some spelling mistakes or doesn't express themselves well. Thing is expressing oneself on a forum is a skill and we're talking about posters who are new. It's a very rare person who's perfect at well just about anything their first time.

Don't get me wrong, there are work arounds to these problems: learning to post elsewhere/a substantial amount of lurking. But isn't that setting an awfully high bar to be allowed to post here without getting heckled off the site?

I mean we're basically asking new posters to hit the ground running in the middle of a mine field, is it at all surprising that has a tendency of not working out very well!

About this time in my argument someone's apt to make a comment about this is just how it is. Thing is that's not actually true, I can point to examples both in meat space and on fet of communities who are night and day different, think about it for a second, can't all of you do the same?

There are some who believe they can sit in judgement of newbies here. They use the word "we" as if such a thing exists. I suspect this is because Collarchat is the only place they can do so and if they tried this in a club it would end badly for them, at the very least the Dungeon Master would bounce them out on their high minded butts.

"Uncommon kinks"? I agree that we must respect another's kink. I'm unaware of any kink that will not fit on Collarspace with the exception of using kids.

"Hotbutton topic"? Some people simply like to pick on people and use that as an excuse. You can see them at work in the political threads.

I agree, some are very intolerant of mistakes newbies can legitimately make. What is surprising is some of those who are intolerant were newbies themselves not just a few months ago and indeed are still so, while pretending to be part of some kind of a "we" group here. I fear they do so to be part of the "we" clique I see referenced, just above, in this thead.

"Spell checker"? Ah yes, the spell checkers. There are a few of those here too. Misspelle or use the word Dominant incorrectly and they jump for joy and reach for the keyboard with a gleam in their eyes. The spell checkeers check our Harbrace adherence also. I suspect this is their only real kink so I respect it. :)

I don't dispute he's a decent guy. I just don't agree with him on this point.

The problem is that you're trying to promote tolerance for the wrong people, or at least the ones we feel are the wrong people.

Who's "we"?

Fine, I. And the few who might agree with me.

OMG ladybug stop hazing me! You're supposed to be tolerant!

And, welcome back.

Can't speak for anyone else, but I personally am very curious to hear who this "we" you were speaking about is.

Oh here, let me repeat myself. I already answered that before the post you're quoting:

OMG ladybug stop hazing me! You're supposed to be tolerant!

If you're going to ask me a question I would appreciate not ignoring the answer when it comes.

Oh FFS, I noticed an error and corrected myself. Either you're being willfully ignorant at this point or a smart-ass.

I find it hilarious how you can't wait half an hour for a response to your question and yet don't notice the response when it comes.

If realizing I made an error and correcting myself is "backtracking," then okay. Whatever makes you feel better.

If you only wanted the answer once, you should've kept to asking once.

Nice way to derail the conversation though. I almost forgot we were talking about whether to treat fellow posters with respect. Though considering my answer was "not in all cases," I suppose I can't complain much.

Polite chuckle.

Still wondering about your comment about "we". It's interesting that you haven't addressed that. But it says what it says-- interesting that you speak about "respect" in the same breath....

Adorable. At this point I'm honestly unsure of whether you're being sarcastic or serious.

So, what was your point here?
"Who is we?" was asked and answered. Drop it.
As for "respect," that was GS's pushing motivation. If you thought I was advocating for respecting members just because, you haven't been paying attention.

GotSteel- I think tolerance is great. And I think you're a great guy. I just think...occasionally these newbies are not deserving of this respect. I also felt the "welcome wagon" was pretty sweet and then the site owners axed everyone or got in a fight or have a baby or whatever in gods name happened- and decided to do away with it.

I've been very conscious about what I post since you started this whole campaign. But the fact of the matter is...I have opinions, I can only give advice based on that. And if my opinion is that sticking your human titties into that milker and inducing lactation IS dangerous (no matter how many times you keep telling me its perfectly safe...)- then that is what you are going to hear from me...I'm not going to go to fet and check it out and find these people links, just honestly...I'm not. Sure I might google "Sticking your dick in a goat milker" but its going to come up with WAY WAY more sarcastic snarky snark than anyone here.

I don't think this place should be a fetlife directory. Do you?

Oh, is the proper answer to that "yes ma'am"? LMAO.

You brought up what is an issue on here, which is, who is this "we" that you speak of?

And, no, just because you say, "drop it", it's not going to happen.

I will quote again...

Who is "we"?

Some random people on here that happen to agree with you?

Is this not a legitimate question?
