First...some I don't support.

1. The state of Texas now requires every new computer repair technician to obtain a private investigator’s license. In order to receive a private investigator’s license, an individual must either have a degree in criminal justice or must complete a three year apprenticeship with a licensed private investigator. If you are a computer repair technician that violates this law, or if you are a regular citizen that has a computer repaired by someone not in compliance with the law, you can be fined up to $4,000 and you can be put in jail for a year.

2. The city of Philadelphia now requires all bloggers to purchase a $300 business privilege license. The city even went after one poor woman who had earned only $11 from her blog over the past two years.

3. Deeply hidden in the 2,409-page health reform bill passed by Congress was a new regulation that will require U.S. businesses to file millions more 1099s each year. In fact, it is estimated that the average small business will now have to file 200 additional 1099s every single year. Talk about a nightmare of red tape! But don't try to avoid this rule - it is being reported that the IRS has hired approximately 2,000 new auditors to audit as many of these 1099s as possible.

Regs I do support:

As already noted, I support the regulation of hours that can be driven by a trucker in any 24 hr. period.

I would support regulation requiring ALL health care professionals...not just doctors but nurses, counselors, etc....receive continuing education hrs each year.

I support Colorado's Tabor Amendment.

I support pets being licensed and thus, innoculated. I support leash laws.

I,and others on my side of the spectrum,might be more inclined to think bad government doesn't work and we need less of that and more good reasonable accessible governance

Ask yourself this:

Should a child be killed for having a lemonade or baked goods stand?

The police go armed to enforce the will of the state, and if you resist, they might kill you.

Ultimately, “the State” is a synonym for “organized violence.” The government holds a monopoly on violence. All laws and regulations are ultimately backed by the full force of our government and military.

This is why I do not support laws and regulations that I am not willing to be enforced by death.

So, YES, regulations that shut down children's lemonade stands and regulations about selling loosies are both regulations that I do not support.

But the Russians admit their mistakes and rectify them. They're no longer Soviet anymore, which happened when Russia itself seceded from the Soviet Union. Khrushchev himself denounced Stalin a few years after Stalin's death. Lenin and Trotsky denounced the government before them.

There were lots of things I could have mentioned, but I honestly don't believe that I was being accusatory, especially when the things I would mention are things that you would agree with anyway. If we're talking about comparing America and Russia and you take the position that "Russia is worse," then you might have me on that one. Russia has been worse in many ways, but I still wouldn't see that as justification for taking a judgmental or morally superior attitude towards them. I say let the Russians judge the Russians, since they're in a better position to do so.

Keep in mind that one thing that keeps Putin in power right now is that he has an external "boogieman" of his own to point out to his own people so he can say, "See? I'm trying to protect Russia." Our sanctions and Cold War era rhetoric may actually have the opposite effect than what we're hoping for.

Don't get me wrong. I have no illusions about the Russians. They have a dark side just as we do, but they've never been an "evil empire."
