Toddler reaches into purse and gun goes off, killing mom

Another happy story about how carrying firearms makes us all safer.

Oh, and about how careful gun-owners are about safety.

To be a truly ""successful" carry story" there would have had to have been someone else armed in the store that shot the dangerous baby dead.. ya know, stop that dangerous baby before it shot and killed everyone in the store!!!.. just sayin'..

I wonder how the surviving parent/family will deal with the fact that the baby killed his mother.. will they ever tell the kid when he gets older? How do you that? How will he feel when he is old enough to grasp what he did?

Aw, look....our little girl is learning irony...

You treat it just like you would with any other accident

Unless you really believe that this particular accident is heinous on the babys part because a gun was involved

Ya got it backwards, the mom has to buy the pool at Walmart first, then bring it home to set it up. Only then does the kid push her in so she drowns. [8D]

Lucylastic -> RE: Another "successful" carry story (1/18/2015 12:36:30 PM)

she didnt buy the gun in walmart
so your scenario does not compute

lovmuffin -> RE: Another "successful" carry story (1/18/2015 12:46:33 PM)

Ok then, so maybe she bought the pool at a gun store or she bought it on the black market.

I believe this particular heinous accident was entirely preventable by responsible gun ownership.

There is a whole crap load of heinous stuff that's preventable by responsible people.

Oh ffs.. That's not what I meant and you know it.. Even tho logically it was just an accident, imo, the child learning he shot his mother & knowing that is going to leave a kid with huge emotional "scars" and guilt, etc.. really, how can it not? Every time someone asks a question about his parents & especially if they ask how she died.. that is going to be a reminder for his whole life..

Yup. And as responsible people, this is among the heinous stuff we should prevent.

A kid got a scooter for Christmas.
First time he road it he was hit by a car and killed.
The parents will have to live with the fact that if they hadn't given him a scooter he would still be alive.
Should we bn scooters?

So how do we go about preventing this sort of thing ?

I am guessing the "bn" in your last sentence means "ban"???? Where in my posts did I say anything about banning guns? My post was about the logic behind a "successful carry story" which gun owners use to justify carrying (so they can shoot the shooters, which in this case would be a baby/toddler) and it was about the difficulty in telling said killer toddler that he killed his mother and how hard it would be for him, emotionally, to deal with that fact.. I cant imagine how hard it will be for him when he gets older.. kids at school nicknaming him "one shot" or having to tell his potential girlfriend/wife how his mother died.. etc, etc, etc..

As for your pitiful example.. [8|] it wasn't the scooter that killed the kid, it was the car that killed him.. and yes, the parents should feel guilty cuz they didn't watch the kid when he was playing on the street and teach him to immediately get on the sidewalk anytime a moving car is within a block of him!..

So we should do something about cars.
Wait cars are regulated more than just about anything, except guns.

BamaD -> RE: Another "successful" carry story (1/18/2015 6:18:11 PM)

FR

Actually last week there was a successful carry story.
A couple was driving along and noticed a problem with a car on the side of the road.
They slowed as they passed and saw the the guy was beating the tar out of a woman in the car.
They stopped and he went to interrupt while his wife called 911.
When the beater became hostile toward the husband he used his firearm to "persuade" the beater to cease and wait for the police. When the cops arrived he put his gun down and explained the situation. The beater is now in jail.

Musicmystery -> RE: Another "successful" carry story (1/18/2015 6:39:39 PM)

All of which was handled without a firearm, except for ego-boy standing his ground with a gun, instead of just backing off and waiting for the police.

All too often, people with guns look for reasons to use them.

bounty44 -> RE: Another "successful" carry story (1/18/2015 6:42:53 PM)

and i just read one where a store clerk was able to kill armed robbers who were serial criminals.

http://dailycaller.com/2015/01/16/store-clerk-takes-on-four-armed-robbers-kills-two-breaks-up-robbery-ring/

for every accident, there are scores of accounts like these....but i suspect that even bothers the liberals too.
