Logically I understand the reason behind the hide button, personally I have a few opinions of it and I am curious how that reflects on the D vs /s choice to "hide" a user.

Personally, I think that using the "hide" feature (though I've been tempted to hide a few idiots, I've elected not to) means that I lack the self control/discipline to simply choose to gloss over or take no action against rampant idiotic posts. Yep, I choose not to engage someone rather than giving them the satisfaction that they've gotten under my skin so deep I had to hide them.

So, let's see where you are with the "hide" button and from which side of the kneel you are on.

D/= Dominant, or dominate... potato, potato...tomato... yada yada
S/= Switch
/s= submissive

There are a couple of people I would hide, mostly for their direction towards moronic posts and threads but I choose to just not read anything posted by them instead... I myself find the use of the hide button childish.

Edit cause auto correct and a touch screen put wrong word in..

/s I have no one on hide.

I don't let people on-line get to me, I can easily ignore bullshit. I don't know people on-line, they don't know me, nothing they say has any effect on me or my life. I don't let idiots in RL get to me so I certainly won't let nameless, faceless people behind a computer screen get to me. Allowing others to annoy you is a waste of precious time and energy and I rather use that time and energy in a good way that benefits me.

I enjoy quotes and this is one of my many favorites. "You can't always control who walks into your life but you can control what window to throw them out of." I have no problem doing that, I'm a bitch like that.

We're actively looking for someone, so I put on hide anyone who patently doesn't fit our criteria. Hence I have thousands on hide and so does Sir.

Hmmm... If you hide someone on the other side, does it hide them on this side?

Why don't you just ignore them and save the effort? Seems to me it takes more energy to hide them than to ignore their posts.

They are hiding profiles on the other side sorting out their unicorn from the massive herd.

It still takes more energy to block than to just ignore.

No, blocking someone on the other side will not hide them on this side...

The only connection I have found which was when I joined this side, is that by joining this side it automatically put your profile on the other side..

I use the hide button to erase all the material from prolific posters who post (in my opinion) worthless crap. It clears the threads out (my vision of them) and I don't have to scroll so much. I've used it for maybe 6 posters. I love that button!

I'm pretty sure I know the ~one~ you're talking about. If it says started by [Redacted], I just don't bother to go on it.

Wait that was YOU Michael?! I could be remembering wrong but I think you sent me the same message. IIRC it did not end well.
