And "public service" unions, more than others can hold society hostage.
I would object much less to them if they weren't allowed to participate in political campaign. What other unions get to help pick management in their companies?

All the publicly traded ones.

200+ years ago this great nation was founded.

One of the linchpins of that foundation was the concept that the civilians controlled the military and not vice versa which was quite common in that time (and not so rare now).

Fast forward 225 years to the establishment of the Department of "Homeland Security" which was established by a president of one party and strengthened to a president of the other party. This has made the police a de facto if not de jure part of the military.
The police unions and the little foot stomping protests by the police at the mayor (their CIVILIAN boss) which are backed by said Union show that the Union, as usual, is wanting to chip away at the constitution and allow the police to wipe their ass with that sacred document (especially the 4th amendment).
