There you go again with the NRA gun industry clap trap. Ya don't supposed the NRA could be protecting the rights of firearm consumers in those states by any chance as well ?

Exactly the thinking of an industry group, vs. a consumer group.

Simple, yes. Free market, no. Individual manufacturers in a free society get to decide what/when they make.

And of course allowing politicians tell them what kind of gun they have to buy if they want one is really looking out for the consumers isn't it. You know the vast majority of gun owners lack faith in the smart guns don't you. Since it is no smart guns or only smart guns working for the consumers would mean no smart guns.

Yet again -- I get it. Yet again -- the law is a poor idea. Yet again -- let the consumers decided...and if it dies, it dies.

So tell the NRA to stop blocking guns it doesn't happen to like because they threaten their manufacturer's cartel.

A short explanation of why:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Armatix_iP1
Marketing this entry would make the sale of all other handguns illegal in the state of New Jersey under current law.

I know why. Which is why opposing the law is understandable, while opposing guns they don't like is anti-market.

We humans often work in advance to prevent disaster. It's the reason sandbags were invented. The NRA, comprised of, and supported by over five million individual members is simply working in advance to prevent this one. It's much more efficient than standing by and watching the disaster occur, then going in afterword and trying to clean it up.

Well... I came back when awake and you all made me want to go back to bed.

This is what we're going to do. I'm leaving this mess and we are all going to debate without one member asking another member to make a judgement or opinion on another member. You can state what you have to stay without the encouragement or enforcement of your fellow posters. It might be best if there was more conversation/debate and less opinions on other members. Let's talk the subject matter rather than another members stance, opinion, etc.

Once a thread has gone so far, it can go over a line and this one has.

You understand that with the law there can be no decision on the part of consumers right?

The law isn't a poor idea, it is dictatorial.

And yet again, if the consumers are prohibited by law from having a choice they cannot decide.

Agreed. Whether the culprit is government or an industry group.

Your issue is that you're carrying water for the industry group.

No it isn't.
Put yourself in the position of the manufacturer for a moment.
Would you put out a product, regardless of what industry we are talking about, that would automatically ban at least half of your products while only replacing one sale for every 50 destroyed.
This is why these laws by well meaning morons is killing the development of smart guns.

I am not carrying water for anyone, get rid of the laws and you get smart guns and the consumer gets to decide what they want. Don't get rid of the laws and you have no choice, either because the manufacturers don't want to commit suicide or because everything but smart guns are banned.
As I pointed out before I took the same position when the government was talking about taking away choices on electric cars.
As it has turned out hybrids are much better than electrics but we would have never found that out had they forced the electrics on us.
How do you know that the manufacturers aren't doing the research on smart guns so they can release them as soon as it isn't suicidal to do so.

Is it really a burden to carry a small and simple little note in the wallet? That people stated once that credit and debit cards would remove the need to carry money in the wallet. Yet, people have paper dollars right next to their credit and debit cards. So I ask in all honesty what the actual burden is?

Apparently, it's a burden to "carry a small and simple little note in the wallet" because we can't have people do that to vote...

Heh.

Well, then what's the problem?

You free market or not? Because you're defending the industry group for doing what the government is doing while opposing what the government is doing.

And somehow, an elected official in the legislature proposing a change to a law is anarchy and tyranny. Yet a executive declaring that he will simply ignore a law (passed by the legislature and signed by the previous executive branch) is not....

Because what the government is doing is forcing the industry to do what they are doing. Don't you understand even this very simple economic fact.

Yet again -- you notice how a lot of posts to you have to start that way? -- I oppose the government's actions for precisely that point.

AND I oppose the industry for doing exactly the same thing along with their opposition to the law.

Established players don't like new upstarts. They are right that the law is too far--and they are wrong in squashing a real threat to their established model...totally understandable, but clearly not willing to let the market decide.

You can't understand that marketing the product can put them out of business unless the law is repealed first can you.
Yes you do and repeat the same ignorant things over and over.

Of course I understand -- I've said it several times. AND that the law needs to go.

You've got nothing else, so you keep repeating the same thing.

AND, SECOND issue, they are actively suppressing a competitor's product.

AGAIN--totally understand why they would do that. Makes sense from THEIR perspective, totally.

What makes sense from the CONSUMERS' perspective is (1) choice without a restrictive law and (2) choice to buy what they want, without the NRA's suppression of what it's core oligarchy opposes for financial reasons.

I have to say that I think it's you who are mega-wrapped up in talking points and understand economics very poorly.
