Yeah, and we see that bit of buffoonery as reality here (we are in the west) where the USA has 12.5 million plus Islamic citizens?

Epic prima facie fail.

Perhaps some day you will know the difference between terms such as Islamists and Islamic citizens

Yeah, poor form.

It may be her shop to do as she pleases, but the motive is clearly a shambles.

I would say, however, that those who value security over liberty, and there are plenty round these parts; are not helping. In fact, they're part of the problem as they sleepwalk towards Authoritarianism.

Seems to me there are two kinds of people being a complete fucking nuisance: the former are the lunatics murdering and threatening to murder people; the latter are those who think Guantanamo is a good idea and call for the power to detain people without a trial and due process/delayed justice etc.

The latter clearly aren't murdering people, so the crimes aren't the same, but they are usurping thousands of years of progress such as the Magna Carta, the English Bill of Rights and the US Bill of Rights.

Bill of rights? As if Islamists are citizens?

Islamists dont fit so neatly into Western criminal justice systems

Their criminal code, Islamic law, criminalizes the West. And if Islamists do not at least support the murder of infidels they are criminal by their law

So our courts, our law is contemptible to them

You call them lunatics but that is a mental error on your part, they are sane but of a different mindset than you

Focused like a laser on Jihad, and using terror as a tool to further their cause

Its not a traffic ticket or patty cake, its war

The point is that detaining people without due process (whatever your opinions on the "Islamofascists" are) is in direct contradiction to your history and our history - and it's happening in both countries.

As I say, the people doing this and supporting this are part of the problem.

Lunatics not in the literal sense, of course.

In wars through history, enemy combatants, spies, traitors and saboteurs, have always been held to a different standard than common criminals

One reason for this is that our justice system was never meant to be a suicide pact

Ah yes, the 'war' response.

The law has simply been adjusted to circumvent certain traditions. In fact, the law probably hasn't been changed: you've simply called it a 'war' to work the system.

The law did not intend to provide for changing the terms of what constitutes a war so that the state can then impose war-like conditions.

The whole point of certain important historical events concerning freedoms was to prevent the state from over-reaching itself, such as detaining people without due process and calling it a 'war' to excuse it.

there are islamist citizens the world over including the United States of America. just like their are 'rightists' (a misnomer if talking about anyone in the USA, they are just feeble minded slobberers here).

I understand the difference. You apparently do not.

If you think that it is I who has decided that it is a war, you are very sadly mistaken.

He doesn't think that, he never said that, it cannot be read into his commentary, in fact as usual you are trolling and trying to pretend this is about you, and I can assure you in every case, it is never about you, because you are a buffoon.

Sorry mnot, you are lost

Islamists arent the same as Muslims or Islamic citizens necessarily

There is a difference

See if you can figure out what that difference is

No, I don't. I have grasped that you hold very little power in the United States hierarchy.

I do get the impression, however, that you support it. Perhaps I'm mistaken.

Thats right, there is a difference, and you don't know it. See if you can figure it out. Because you are grossly misusing the word.

That could never happen here.

The [Hide/Seek] exhibition [at the National Portrait Gallery], which closes Sunday, was the first major-museum show depicting how artists handle questions of sexual and gender identity. The artists ranged from Thomas Eakins, George Bellows and Georgia O'Keeffe to Jasper Johns, Robert Rauschenberg and Andy Warhol.

In late November, hearing complaints from Republican leadership on Capitol Hill and conservative critics, the Smithsonian removed a video that critics labeled sacrilegious. The work in question was a short portion of "A Fire in My Belly" by artist David Wojnarowicz that contained a scene of a crucifix crawling with ants. That decision, made by Smithsonian Secretary G. Wayne Clough, set off demonstrations, panel discussions and Internet debates about the censorship at the Smithsonian, funding to Smithsonian shows and the role of gay artists.

I'm too tired to dig up links on Mapplethorpe and the Corcoran.

N.B.: Offering U.S. examples does not mean I approve of what happened in France.
I'm sickened and sad. But not quite ready to throw stones.

yes but a major difference here being that republicans, Christians, conservatives, whoever, will not riot or resort to violence (and deadly violence at that) in reaction to their sacred icons being desecrated.

one other part of the equation in the artists you mention is, our government actually funds the offending artists and their exhibitions. so one very large aspect of the conversation is not so much whether such things should be created/displayed, but rather, why are our tax payers paying for such things.

We all are aware that you are, and have always been. We comment on that time to time.

Nevertheless, you might want to grab up a dictionary, because you grossly misuse the word.

You slither around slobbering in yours, you so far have displayed the ignorance here as you always do. And there were some pretty ignorant comments that were distant runners up.

Cue the defenders in 3, 2, 1. . . .

Cue the Islamophobes more like.

this is a good example of how/why it's difficult to have meaningful conversations with leftists. you (as a group) see "isms" inherent in every conservative critique. calling someone a name is an attempt, conscious or otherwise, to shut down the conversation. oh---since im an islamophobe, I have nothing to say. or, oh, since he is an islamophobe, I can dismiss his arguments and go happily along my way.

I've said this before but it didn't appear to stick, so I will try again. conservatives do not have an irrational fear of muslims, nor are they hateful of them. what they have done is looked at the evidence, decided which side they want to fall on, and made a choice.

have said this before too and it bears repeating---the incredible irony that exists when liberals defend islam, especially when so many of them gleefully attack Christianity. so many of the things you hold dear, so many of the behaviors you engage in, are illegal in muslim countries. you'd be killed, jailed, forced to convert, or otherwise oppressed. but by all means---keep supporting them and hope they will be "tolerant" of you when you are living under their rule.

Note that the first two quotes you have are generally considered 'rightists', and they are impugnments by innuendo. Not a damn one of you is considered conservative on this board, because none of you are.
