I think I'll have to rewatch Secretary though. Someone commented about how finding submission and love fixed the submissive's need to cut herself. Although, if I remember, she may have been cutting because she was terribly bored with her life, so when she becomes the secretary [and submissive], she no longer feels the need to cut anymore, thus making the movie not as terrible as the others.

Yep. People with some brains have been recommending The Secretary to me recently. I might actually watch this one some day.

Watch it. Maggie Gyllenhall and James Spader are really good together.

I didn't hate secretary- but I love Spader, so that is certainly contributing

I agree. Wish it was on Netflix.

I thought you were threatening me there, for a second. (As in 'Hey you, watch it, mate!) Weird. Heh.

Maggie Gyllenhall is one of those women I keep looking at and trying to work out if she's attractive or not. I don't have that problem with James Spader, though: he looks like a turtle. Good actors both, mind you.

One day, one day, there'll be a Hollywood blockbuster about a femdom/malesub. It might even be *done well*.

Have you watched Dog the Bounty Hunter?

Venus in Furs came out this year! (Granted foreign and not Hollywood/not a hit) but still!

My favorite part in there was "it won't be relevant again until a decade from now a bunch of kids with mid-October birthdays realize that they were conceived after mom and dad got home after watching this shit."

Yes, unfortunately. I had a hairstyle like his, once. *Shudder*.

It's an epic loves story of a rough and tough subby boy and his Domme. Kinda like Dr. Phil and his Domme, just with more tantrums.

Jus sayin

Okay. What about this. Which came first. Sure the books became popular because of their relation to the Twilight series, but if they hadn't made the New York Times best seller list and all that, would these books have become as popular as they did? Without best seller lists, stores wouldn't have stocked these books in such large amounts, movies wouldn't be made, etc. The other problem is, just because people BUY books, doesn't mean they read or even like what they bought, so being on a best seller list seems flawed.. .. It's not like these are the first and last BDSM books to be written or sold.
