What are your thoughts on the 3rd person speak style?
Like it..Hate it?

Level -> RE: 3rd Person Slavespeak (7/14/2006 3:51:10 PM)

I'd rather fall headfirst into a steaming vat of goat shit than listen to very much of it.

Well, Level, I guess you don't have very strong feelings on the matter.  [8|]

Listening to third person slave speak drives me crazy and there is no way in hell I would ever do it, but to each their own.

juliaoceania -> RE: 3rd Person Slavespeak (7/14/2006 4:02:13 PM)

I think it can be fun if it is a role playing game, but I do think that it is hard to understand and at times incomprehensible. At times when people post this way on here I have skipped their post because it gives me a headache, and I am not a part of their dynamic and as such I do not feel I should have to read it.

If it is ok with them that many won't read their posts,.. well it's ok with me they post this way. Other than that I have no problem with it one way or another.

feastie -> RE: 3rd Person Slavespeak (7/14/2006 4:06:21 PM)

It has its place, but it ain't in everyday language or the written word.  It is useful when having to account for one's actions to one's owner.  JMHO.

IronBear -> RE: 3rd Person Slavespeak (7/14/2006 4:10:56 PM)

Strewth! I thought this had been covered in both the general BDSM Forum and the Gorean Lifestyle Forum several times over... I'm trying to figure out if I can combine 3rd person with medieval speak and translate it into old norse just to piss everyone off....

cuddleheart50 -> RE: 3rd Person Slavespeak (7/14/2006 4:14:55 PM)

It gives me a headache trying to read it...don't like it.

edited to add...or listen to it.

enigmabrat -> RE: 3rd Person Slavespeak (7/14/2006 4:17:51 PM)

I cant stand it.... back in my gorian days it was the hardest thing for me to learn and i hated it and what really sucks is sometimes I slip back into it our of old habit and it makes me wana cut my own tongue out

sleazybutterfly -> RE: 3rd Person Slavespeak (7/14/2006 4:23:53 PM)

I can stand to read the "girl" terms or something like that.. not for long, long sentences..or long, long conversations though.  The term "it" ...it's very annoying when it calls itself it how it likes to ... I think you get my point...

To each their own though....

I'm working on getting over my bashfullness [X(]. God help us all if I ever do a rant thread LOL.

bandit25 -> RE: 3rd Person Slavespeak (7/14/2006 4:27:54 PM)

I don't care much for it either...but what really drives me nuts is when someone "asks" for permission to enter a chat room when they are obviously already there!

Does this girl have permission to post on this forum?

ScarletOdyssey -> RE: 3rd Person Slavespeak (7/14/2006 4:38:58 PM)

It serves its purpose then by making the ones using it think before they talk (we could all agree that's a good thing right?)
and I've had goats but never once saw goat poo steam....Maybe I was too far away from it.
Now goat piss is another story.
lol

Translated into:

"Oh Master, from whose ass the sun shineth, from whose eyes the stars sparkeleth, and in whose heart the mood resideth, doest this poor besotted girl have thy kind permission to posteth her humble thoughts in this auspicious forum?"

juliaoceania -> RE: 3rd Person Slavespeak (7/14/2006 4:45:52 PM)

IB, is that 3rd person with medieval speak translated it into old norse? Or just a close facsimile?...smiles

Arpig -> RE: 3rd Person Slavespeak (7/14/2006 4:56:26 PM)

In the context of a scene it could be fun...for a while, but I dislike it overall. Especially in a written medium, it just makes it very hard to follow sometimes (this girl was talking to this girl this girl knows.....OY!)
It is almost as annoying as the damned W/we crap....Gods! I do so loathe that!

Likely a bit of piss got mixed in with the shit. [:D]

CrappyDom -> RE: 3rd Person Slavespeak (7/14/2006 5:09:42 PM)

This one thinks whomever invented it should have their tongue ripped out and their ears stappled to a speaker while they play old chipmonk records over and over and over and over...

LotusSong -> RE: 3rd Person Slavespeak (7/14/2006 5:10:00 PM)

This is what I don't like about it.  It strikes me as overworking the "I'm such a  humble slave I don't even deserve an identy"  scenario.  I know the first time I heard it.. I played the person a bit.

"This slave greets you"

"Uh.. what slave?"

"This slave."

"This slave, where?"

"This slave here".

"All I see is you. Where is this slave? And does this slave know you are talking about her?  Gossip is unbecoming in a slave and I suggest you sit down right now and  write this slave a note and apologize for talking about her".

It could have gone into a "Whos on First" routine.. but I take pity on people at times :)

It strikes me as a bit too "look at me!"-ish

litleone8620 -> RE: 3rd Person Slavespeak (7/14/2006 5:12:06 PM)

I think it has its time and place. In everyday life: no; while scening: maybe.

To do it in everyday life seems a bit arrogant to me. Like you're too big of a person to say "I".
