Locked for cleaning. The personal arguments between members has been excessive, forcing my hand even in the Feisty sections. Do expect a couple of changes. They are in the works right now.

For the time being, I will be putting * on any thread in the Dungeon that a moderator has had to step into and work or put a warning on. It becomes a moderated thread. Removing the * would be a serious problem for staff and would be viewed by staff as an attempt to create issues in the ability for staff to do their job.

I'll leave it to a guy whom has a 4.0 and magna cum laude in J.D., to know the law pretty well.

You're making shit up again. Obama's Harvard GPA has never been released, and Latin honors attach to the baccalaureate.

(Magna cum laude "in" J.D. What a hoot!)

Obviously you do not possess decent researching skills....

President Obama went to Harvard University. He graduated with a J.D. degree, magna cum laude. That's Latin for "With great honor". He did this at the age of 27 If your needing more information, you might find it at Harvard University. They seem to have things defined pretty well.

I find it amusing that conservatives give this guy such a hard time on his education. That its impossible for some black guy to beat all the white students out. How many US Presidents have had their entire education challenged? Not a single one. Its because he's black, that you cant believe it, Kirata. Harvard University is not forced to release anything. I'm sure when Obama's library is finished, it'll have a copy of his transcript showing his amazing final graduation score. Beating down all the conservatives once and for all!

So I am not 'making shit up again', Kirata. Its all there, in black and white. Evidence that is proof positive. How about you show us your GPA? Did you graduate with honors?

Its fair to say that your making shit up....again.....

And its because you dont have a leg to stand on in the discussion....again....

something from Wikipedia on latin honors:

"These honors, when they are used, are almost always awarded to undergraduates earning their bachelor's, and, with the exception of law school graduates, much more rarely to graduate students receiving their master's or doctor's degree. The honor is typically indicated on the diploma. Latin honors are often conferred upon law school students graduating as a Juris Doctor or J.D., in which case they are generally based upon class rank or grade point average."

a gracious person would recognize that since almost all graduate programs with the exception of JD's do not use the latin honors moniker, and since most graduate programs are not in law, it would be easy and even understandable to think that latin honors only attach to undergraduate grades.

if I am reading you rightly----where you got the idea that Obama was a 4.0 in law school is a mystery, and is if that really matters to any of the points to begin with.

i'll give you some benefit of the doubt in that sure, they might be some people in America who simply don't like Obama because of the color of his skin but to paint all conservatives with that brush---is ludicrous and so typically leftist. right, we are all racists.

you are as good as al sharpton and jesse Jackson there.

we don't like Obama because he's the poster boy for a worldview and policies we are not only in stark disagreement with, but that we feel are harmful to America. its really that simple. on a personal note, I cannot stand the man's character and I would venture other's think the same.

by extension of your thinking then too, all the blacks who are themselves conservatives---uncle tom's all!

we don't like Hillary Clinton either---so yes we are all sexist too.

the hubbub over his academic records has to do with the left wing main stream media making such a major fuss over president bush's academic prowess, while then subsequently ignoring the extent to which Obama's have been locked in a steel vault beneath the ocean floor. (never mind that his Columbia classmates simply do not remember the guy at all) this coupled with that there was a running streak of presidents who had released college information gave an auspicious start to the most "transparent administration."

The consequences of the West accepting Netanyahooooooo's claim that the mooted agreement between Iran and the Western Powers is dangerous, and therefore the agreement should be rejected are worth examining.

Will Iran attack Israel? Israel is in a mutual security alliance with the US. Anyone who launches a nuclear attack on Israel is inviting certain US and Israeli nuclear retaliation and consequent devastation of their country. So even if Iran were to somehow acquire nuclear capacity without anyone knowing and then to launch an unprovoked attack on Israel the only certain consequence would be the annihilation of Iran. So the chances of an Iranian attack on Israel are, IMHO, somewhere between zero and nought. Oddly enough I share this view with both the US and Israeli military establishments, their spy agencies and an awful lot of ordinary Israelis.

Will Israel attack Iran? This is a far more likely possibility but in the final analysis, Israel will not attack Iran without US approval and that approval is unlikely to be forthcoming, unless there is a radical change in Iranian policy and Iran opts to construct nuclear weapons. However if Netanyahooo could construct a coalition of Western Powers including the US to isolate and punish Iran, then it seems far more likely that Israel and possibly other countries would attack Iran. If the West reaches a mutually satisfactory arrangement with Iran in the current negotiations, then there will be zero chance of either such a coalition being built or a 'stand alone' Israeli attack. The only way that Netanyahoooo can keep his military options open is to somehow persuade a reluctant West to abandon any agreement with Iran.

The 'peace dividend' of an agreement with Iran would include a reduction in tension in one of the world's most violent regions, the re-integration of Iran into the community of nations and end to the crippling sanctions. While most people would welcome these developments, Netanyahoooooo would see them negatively and against Israeli interests. Rapproachement with Iran would cause the focus of much Western interest in the region to return to Israel's settlements/colonies and the creeping annexation (read: theft) of the West Bank, a development that Israel would not welcome. It is also open to question whether Israelis would like to retain such a belligerent PM in the event of an agreement with Iran. Netanyahooooo's chances of surviving the forthcoming Israeli elections are looking increasingly doubtful, so increasing tensions in the regions dovetails neatly with Netanyahooooo's personal interests.

I don't think the issue for Israel is fear of an Iranian nuclear attack. I think it has to do with the fact that while Israel holds the nuclear card, the chance of any overwhelming attack against the Jewish State is slim. If Iran develops a nuclear counter-capability, then Israel's nuclear Ace is worthless and deep shit ensues.

What does that mean to a cult whose central belief system enshrines the fairy tale that "Allah" will magically aid them in such a battle, and bestow awesome heavenly rewards for those who die in Jihad against the despised Jews

Alternatively, we could ask about a cult whose central belief system enshrines the fairy tale that "G-d" gave them that land and it is theirs by divine right.

Are the Jews determined to destroy Islam though? Key difference, that.

Something to take into consideration with this comparison is that in the civilized world we do not accept "G*d" as an excuse for killing people. In the barbarian world it is still used as an excuse.

Beyond "divine right" Israel DOES have those treaties and agreements and such.

Hard to ignore that Islamic ally Nazi Germany made a lot of progress toward the primary Islamist goal at one point, providing Israel ample reason to act aggressively in its own self defense and promoting a strategic advantage for its very survival

Comparing their will to live in a negative way to Islams determination to destroy them is nonsense

Worse than nonsense

Well they've been doing a pretty good job of ethnic cleansing since they got there. Does that count?

BY ethnic cleansing you mean building homes, and taking necessary precautions against constant missile attacks and suicide bombers...

No. Again, thats beyond nonsense.

Had they not suffered attacks that were designed to destroy them, their necessary counterattacks would not have won them more ground.

How did Islam come to "occupy" vast swaths of ground in a relatively short time that was once home to a plethora of Christians, Jews, Hindus, Buddhists and many others in the first place.

You win one, joether, although both are highly unusual. My research skills are actually pretty good, but in this case I didn't do any. Obviously, I should have. I wasn't aware that law schools were an exception. Touché.

No problem, but just so I'm clear: Does trimming a quoted post of parts that are irrelevant to one's reply now to be in all cases considered "changing" it for moderation purposes?

I think you need to catch up on your history.

The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine

Focusing primarily on Plan D (Dalet, in Hebrew), conceived on March 10, 1948, Pappe demonstrates how ethnic cleansing was not a circumstance of war, but rather a deliberate goal of combat for early Israeli military units led by David Ben-Gurion, whom Pappe labels the "architect of ethnic cleansing." The forced expulsion of 800,000 Palestinians between 1948-49, Pappe argues, was part of a long-standing Zionist plan to manufacture an ethnically pure Jewish state. Framing his argument with accepted international and UN definitions of ethnic cleansing, Pappe follows with an excruciatingly detailed account of Israeli military involvement in the demolition and depopulation of hundreds of villages, and the expulsion of hundreds of thousands of Arab inhabitants.

Guidelines for this section, in part, read as follows: Please do not change the thread title, a member’s nickname or a quoted post.

So the answer to that would be; Quotes are not to be changed. For various reasons this was added to the guidelines to prevent problems between members, changing the contents or meaning of the post, any harassment that could take place and to prevent conflict resolution between members and staff when moderators must dig, for the facts and where things went wrong. It would save staff time so that they could work other important matters rather than trying to balance out the disputes between members.

Saving staff time means less staff needed and a higher potential to provide consistency and fairness for the members.

To address something you haven't brought up: Posters are asked to shorten quotes when they are quoting a number of other posters and perhaps quote fewer. The content must not be changed.
