CD, I'm just wondering: have any criticisms of these "maxims" occurred to you, yet?

It's just that, since you copied them out in bold, presumably for our enlightenment here at CM, I'm assuming that you believe them to be perfect - or at least, in their major impact, in their fundamental truthfulness. Is that really the case, for you?

Actually, Peon...I thought most grown up, intelligent people would be able to figure out what each of them meant and how to apply them. If you're having difficulty with that, you might try going back to the original source I cited them from.

I also thought most intelligent people would be able to detect some of the humor that can go along with these as in Kirata's comment. If you're having trouble with that, I don't know what to tell you.

It's almost endearing, really, that you believe that the only possible reason why somebody wouldn't agree with these 'Rules' is because he or she hasn't understood them.

They're bollocks, CD. That's why I didn't agree with them. I hope that helps. [:)]

ETA: No offence meant.

Allow your staff to not do something that offends them and instead anger your customers OR move your staff to another area where they'll not have to worry about doing something that offends them and your customers won't be angered or inconvenienced?

Seems simple, right? Most employers would pick the second choice, right? Not these folks...

Ironic, really. The Daily Mail (known as the 'Daily Wail' here in the UK; sometimes just the 'Getsworse') is a newspaper that has become famous for being 'offended' (to the point of apoplectic fury - quite often as a result of 'outrageous examples of Political Correctness Gone Mad"' This little story - assuming they didn't make it up (unfortunately, also something they're notorious for doing - would be right up their street.)

Why are you trying to use a non event from 18 months ago as current policy ? Prick.

Not surprised...nor offended...that you'd think they are. Of course, you're wrong but...no offense.[:D]

the most recent:

"Apparently, the simple presence of Christina Hoff Sommers on campus could be traumatizing"

quote:

Students at both Oberlin College in Ohio and Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., have been crying out that they fear for their safety because conservative groups invited someone who disagrees with their views on sexual assault and rape culture to speak on campus...

A photo on Twitter shows a student holding another sign reading, “TRIGGER WARNING: anti-feminism” and advertising the location of a “safe space” for anyone who might feel traumatized by Sommers’s opposing views.

...the Oberlin students who wrote a piece for the school newspaper protesting the invitation preceded it with a trigger warning — apparently, they consider Sommers to be so dangerous that even talking about her talking could traumatize someone."

I read her who stole feminism, loved it, and I also have her war against boys: how misguided feminism is harming our young men .

am surprised there are any conservative students at Oberlin!

mnottertail -> RE: News from the Society for the Perpetually Offended (4/21/2015 2:19:11 PM)

Earlier today, the president of the University of Michigan admitted that it was a mistake for the school to cancel a screening of “American Sniper” because the film made some students feel “unsafe.” The university did end up screening the film, albeit in “a separate forum that provides an appropriate space for dialogue and reflection.”

Don’t believe for a minute that the designation of campus “safe spaces” is going to silence students who consider campus events and speakers objectionable. Christina H. Sommers, author of “Who Stole Feminism?” and a resident scholar at the American Enterprise Institute, is appearing as a guest of the Georgetown University College Republicans Thursday night, and some students are worried that her appearance should be accompanied by a “trigger warning.”

The entire facts from your first link.

And nothing more by way of fact in the second, except a picture of a note 'taken somewhere' written by 'someone'.

Nowhere are there students 'fearing for their safety' nor has it been demonstrated by you that such a thing is true by your shooting the messenger with your factless asswipe from the propagandist goons and thugs of the rabid right at national review.

Perhaps you could actually and factually show of footage of students cringing in fear, or possibly in some coma from this action, rather than shooting the messenger with your factless asswipe. (That you cant even support with your links)

I reassert what is obvious and prima facie factually proven. National Review is a Breitbart class rag since the demise of Wm. F. Buckley.

The fact remains, that is their claim. Hence their need for "safe" spaces. It could be, of course, that the students do not really fear for their safety. It could be that the instigators of these protest are political agitators stirring up their brain-dead following in an attempt to crush freedom of speech on campus.

If you like that view better, I can go with it.

mnottertail -> RE: News from the Society for the Perpetually Offended (4/21/2015 2:58:18 PM)

I doubt it is freedom of speech, these shitbreathers are paid to speak on campus, now that might be freedom of speech to those fucksticks who loaded the supreme court, and who call themselves 'conservatives', 'republicans', 'libertarians' 'independent' or wherever the cowards hide these days, but it ain't. And I think whats at play here is freedom period. I shouldnt have to (and dont) pay to listen to clueless fuckwads run their mouths, I own no honest consideration to factless, lying propagandists, who can neither enlighten or further my understanding.

I know what you were doing, I just felt it right and proper to point it out. Like I said, it was a non-event from two years ago.

I feel as if I have entered a debate with stupidville, population two.

CD seems happy to use old newspaper reports which were done and dusted two years back, that doesnt make it company policy, not one iota of it.
