ORIGINAL: cloudboy The root cause of the problem is not "employers." Employers make things happen, employers get things done, and employers need motivated workers. Foisting the POLICE STATE on employers just turns us into a POLICE STATE hurting the economy while clogging up judicial and enforcement agencies, et. al. The root of the problem is global in nature, namely poverty and oppression. If the US invested in its neighbors instead of pouring BILLIONS OF DOLLARS into imaginary cold war threats in Central America, Southeast Asia, and a Nuclear Build Up -- and if the US promoted democracy and or some viable form of nation-building or nation assistance --- we might not have the migrations that we see. Ken Dickey is simply not using his head or thinking clearly at all -- and he wants to live in an imaginary world where the USA is an ISLAND cut off from the world. No other civilized nation would ever think of instituting his suggestion except for places like the old USSR and today North Korea. Next, the OP wants to spend over and above the $18 Billion Dollars a year we now spend on enforcement to "wall off the border." So, let's say we take his idea, and up spending to $40 Billion Dollars a year. The flow of people into the USA seeking opportunities will not diminish any more than the drug war has been able to stamp out drug use. So, his solution is to throw MORE TAX DOLLARS into an unworkable program. If the OP's ideas were put into force, the USA would spend $400 Billion dollars in enforcement costs from 2015-2025 and the number of undocumented out of status people in the USA will be double what we have now -- say 22 Million people. The sad thing about the Tea Party and Republican Congressman is that they pander to such ignorance to get votes. The Republican leadership needs to do more of what McCain did in 2008, namely grab the microphone out of the hands of an insane person and say, "No, Candidate Obama is not a Muslim." The Republican leadership needs to up-think and stand up to crack-pot ideas. What's astounding is he thinks he's proposing a solution when actually he's pursuing FAILURE, a waste of tax dollars, the establishment of a police state, and he's chucking overboard chances for US economic growth and government budget reductions. His ignorance is simply off the scale. Glad you have an opinion, No I don't want to isolate us. Of course that is an option. I do want LEGAL immigration. No I don't think that legal immigration will lead to a police state. Didn't say anything about a wall. Explosives, automatic weapons, etc I did say. Seems to me, and you are entitled to your opinion, that you want to open the border, eliminate all immigration laws, and let everyone in no harm no foul. Don't think that is wise, but whatever.
