expressing free speech is now the collective?????
who are the commissars?
when is the court date?
when were they arrested???
flippant, but PLEASE even a few thousand hate twitter posts or emails is hardly collective of anything.
Was Birtherism a collective?
Was ODS a collective?
Is 17 % of the republicans still believe obama is a muslim
Oh and lets not get on to the collective wanting to take gay marriage out of the supreme court hands...a CONSTITUTION amendment no less,
Oh and force women to carry to full term every time they get pregnant.
Wants to degrade the poor, sick and their children to suffer more every year.
But you wanna get uptight about bruce jenner and people who stormed social media....over two men you never even heard of, until he flip flopped or changed his mind, or bought into the "collective"
assimilate?
sweet heaven....its funny.

and I think that aylee, is a very apt differentiation between the rest of us, and the totalitarian leftists (the party of "inclusion" so long as you toe the party line).

So anyone who doesnt agree with you is a "totalitarion leftist"........ And you wonder why some of us think you are a joke.

Bounty didnt write or suggest that anyone who doesnt agree with him is a "totalitarion leftist"

Care to try addressing his actual post, sans the pathetic straw man and the ad hominem fallacies?

That does address his post, and gets right to the heart of the matter while doing so....if you weren't part of the aforementioned "us" you would be able to admit this.

Really? You all are basically saying that you want stiffer moderation/bans and cannot fend for yourselves without moderators dictating?

I'm hearing you loud and clear.

Cruz has introduced not only a Constitutional Amendment to give States the decision of whether or not to approve gay marriage, but also a bill that would bar any judicial hearings and decisions on gay marriage until that Amendment is passed.

In my lifetime so far, the President that has had the most profound impact on my political views has no doubt been Ronald Reagan. I was a very impressionable youth.

And I have no doubt that when the issue of gay marriage is finally decided in the Supreme Court, it will be Ronald Reagan's appointee, Justice Kennedy, that reinforces every reason Ronnie was my hero.

Modern Republicans still have much to learn.

If I recall correctly, Obama also said it should be left up to the states but I don't remember anyone having a fit over that.

Do you recall correctly President Obama coming out and saying his position had evolved.....perhaps your memory isn't all that good ?

yup I do, it was the same time he said it should be left up to the states.

http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2012/05/obama-comes-out-i-think-same-sex-couples-should-be-able-to-get-married/

"President Obama today announced that he now supports same-sex marriage, reversing his longstanding opposition amid growing pressure from the Democratic base and even his own vice president.

The president stressed that this is a personal position, and that he still supports the concept of states' deciding the issue on their own."

I suppose because they had such a great track record with civil rights and all...

Ian Reisner, one of the two gay hoteliers facing boycott calls for hosting an event for Senator Ted Cruz, who is adamantly opposed to gay marriage, apologized to the gay community for showing “poor judgment.”
Mr. Reisner put the apology on Facebook, where a page calling for a boycott of his properties, the gay-friendly OUT NYC hotel and his Fire Island Pines holdings, had gotten more than 8,200 “likes” by Sunday evening.
“I am shaken to my bones by the e-mails, texts, postings and phone calls of the past few days. I made a terrible mistake,” wrote Mr. Reisner.
The New York Times first reported on the event, a dinner and on April 20, at the duplex Mr. Reisner and his business partner Mati Weiderpass co-own on Central Park South in Manhattan. The event was a “fireside chat” for about a dozen people, but was not a fund-raiser.
The two men are prominent figures in the gay rights community, and Mr. Reisner has been especially vocal about gay marriage. He’s also a staunch supporter of Israel, as is Mr. Cruz.
But Mr. Cruz has also introduced legislation to try to preserve the rights of states to maintain their bans on gay marriage and he has called for pastors to hold prayer services while the Supreme Court hears arguments on April 28 over the legality of the bans.
Last week, Mr. Reisner and another attendee said Mr. Cruz didn’t explicitly say he opposed gay marriage at the catered dinner, but said that the issue was best left to the states. Mr. Cruz, who is hoping to appeal to evangelical voters in the Iowa caucuses, said he had voiced his strong religious opposition to gay marriage at the dinner.
Mr. Cruz faced some backlash among conservatives over the event, but it was nothing compared to the criticism both Mr. Reisner and Mr. Weiderpass faced from the gay community.
“I was ignorant, naive and much too quick in accepting a request to co-host a dinner with Cruz at my home without taking the time to completely understand all of his positions on gay rights,” Mr. Reisner said.
“I’ve spent the past 24 hours reviewing videos of Cruz’ statements on gay marriage and I am shocked and angry. I sincerely apologize for hurting the gay community and so many of our friends, family, allies, customers and employees. I will try my best to make up for my poor judgement. Again, I am deeply sorry.”

Where is the outcry for this guy to be punished over his wishing he had discriminated against Cruz because of Cruz's beliefs?!?

Not hosting a political fundraiser for a candidate who would act against ones own best interests is discrimination ?

Are we all working off of a common dictionary,or do some guys have a different version.

I would agree with most of this. And Dr King is exactly why I will never be able to call Nelson Mandela a personal hero.

Not too long ago, on these very boards, I called Mandela a racist based upon his policy of "blacks first, everyone else second, then whites."

Naturally, I was lambasted, but the truth is: the way Mandela governed was the antithesis of the stated Utopian society of King.

Maybe you and I truly agree upon an issue?

Michael

Yeah cause the country Mandela ultimately was called on to lead was such a bastion of equality and fairness......you know you really are a joke.

Only no one, with any sense or intelligence ,is laughing WITH you.

Totally absurd

Intelligent people do not believe that its alright to oppress people on the basis of skin color, as long as the different races take turns doing it. Doesnt matter who does it or why, it is always wrong.

Intelligent people also understand that folks who have been oppressed for generations are going to need some set asides in order to achieve equality.

Guess the first part is why the second part needed explaining /clarification

I was mistaken. Totally my fault.

I thought the event was held at the hotel, not a private residence. Had it been at the hotel, he'd have been lamenting allowing the event. Not allowing the event at the hotel because of Cruz's views would have been discrimination.

Not agreeing to host at your own private residence is another story.

its clear to me that "totalitarian leftists" refers to people who demand fidelity to the party line, not just "those who disagree with me."

if you want to be insulting, you might try understanding first whats been said.

while you are at it, look at what aylee said before me, consider the definition for totalitarian "a form of government requiring total submission of the individual to the state" and if you have a better word to describe that phenomenon, feel free to share it.

Sorry old chap, it isn`t clear to you at all, judging by your own posts. The meaning of both your own and Aylees post are clear enough, since the word "leftists" was bandied about. If you feel that being insulted becaue I picked up on the bollocks included in your posts, then feel free, because I wont stop pointing out bullshit anytime soon.

The fact that you both feel only the left wing try to contol free speech, is in itself laughable.

Just an FYI, I align with the Tea Party planks pretty well. I admit I wouldn't likely go see the NYC Gay Men's Choir, but then again, I wouldn't likely go see any choir, regardless of the sexual preferences of its members.
