Sanity -> RE: Indiania can now discriminant against anyone (4/3/2015 9:08:15 AM)

The point that Tweaka fails to get, is that the Christians just dont want to be forced to do something that violates their faith.

The Muslims however, will kill you for being gay.

Obviously, its not as black and white as that. But generally...

Yet, to her and those like her, all Christians are repulsive while the tenants of Islam are to be revered

Sanity my remarks were directed at a section of reactionary hate-driven 'Christians'. So I have no idea how your link connects with my post or its relevance to this thread. It seems to be just another idiotic Islamophobic contribution from someone with a long history of such posts.

A Christian and a Muslim do the same thing.
When we notice this it proves two things.
A Christians are hate filled.
B Anyone who notices that a Muslim does it is an Islamaphobe.

This leads me to thinking
A Both Christians and Muslims are filled with hate
or
B We have more Cristianaphobes on here than Islamaphobes.

It is quite erroneous to draw the conclusion you have drawn. I have no idea what is in Sanity's link - its title was enough to convince me of its irrelevance to this thread. So to infer or conclude that my original remarks had anything whatsoever to do with Islam is utterly wrong.

I used the term Islamophobia because it is pretty clear from his ceaseless posts on the issue that Sanity is obsessed with the 'evils' of Islam as he sees it, a condition many of us rightly recognise as Islamophobia. Please don't conclude that Sanity is the only poster here with this debilitating condition.

I hope this clarifies things for you

But...let's be clear, tweak. It's only the Christians that you and others have focused on. And is it only a segment? Those Christians who truly are driven by their hatred vs those who are truly driven by their beliefs?

And glossing threats of violence by some in the pro gay community as the natural reaction to discrimination. Some, and I must compliment them for this, actually contributed to the fund for the pizzaria owners because everything else pales in comparison to the threats of violence.

I can only speak for myself - so what motivates others is for them to state.

So yes let's be clear. As my post states explicitly and the exchange of posts between dcnovice and myself illustrates clearly, my remarks were directed at a minority of Christians who use their religion as a means of cloaking their hate. Why focus on this group ? This is the group who were responsible for the flawed legislation in Indiana, which is I understand a majority Christian State

You use the term Islamaphobia because its the most hateful term you can get away with here, and the only form of debate you know involves such slander, obfuscation and ad hominems as that. 'Islamaphobia' implies an unreasonable or an ungrounded fear of Islam, while I neither fear Islam nor do I hate Muslims as you imply.

I am simply frank and honest about the issues with said ideology, and that makes you see red.

And yet it was the pro gay groups that threatened violence, don't they get a couple of demerits from you for this?
And you have to admit that compared to the treatment of gays in many Islamic states Indiana is downright pro gay.

It would be interesting to see video of Tweaka going around to Muslim bakeries in Tehran or Riyadh, demanding they make her a gay wedding cake

She might learn what true hate really is

good point: "we are slightly more tollerant than muslim fundamentalists so you should be grateful"... persoanl opinion: in some way it seems you envy those coutries.

Except that we are far more accepting than Muslim fundamentalists.

And let's be clearer...while you now say your remarks were directed at a minority of Christians...those driven by hate...your remarks have simply stated Christians which would indicate all of us who believe in Christ.

As for it being the hate-filled Christians that drove the legislation and NOT those attempting to protect their right to practice their beliefs...got any proof? Or are you willing to state that those guarding their beliefs are hate-filled also?

Finally...how about those threatening violence and destruction? Are they hate-filled? Or justified in standing up for their beliefs by whatever means necessary?

Unless you are dumb enough to argue that putting two male-imaged statuettes on a cake constitutes an attack on a person's right to practice their religion, such inane questions wouldn't occur to you

The point of the male figures has already been discussed by many on this forum. Are you the one dumb enough to suggest that it does not signify the cake is for a gay wedding? And therefore makes the cake part of something that does violate some folks' beliefs?

FORCE me to go against my religion

I believe you are confusing a choice with a right... No one is forcing you to go in a Mosque... providing a service to a gay is not the same as giving approval to a life style... You have a choice not to lead that kind of lifestyle just as you have a choice not to engage in a business that in your view is against your religion.... BUT

Denying service that you supply to others is discrimination... That gay may live in an area where he or she has no choice in the matter... Would you deny them food or medical attention just because they are gay? Is this the Christian way... I think not.

I still have not been shown where in the Christian Bible where it says not to provide services to homosexuals... or where it says to deny sustenance to a follower of another religion. If I read it right it should be just the opposite for a good Christian.

Butch

wow, this just keeps getting better and better. It started off with a wedding cake that could be bought at any number of shops and now it's gone to denying someone sustenance. I wonder how many will starve in Indiana because of the madness. Not counting the business owners who are being boycotted for the sin of living there.

So tell me kd, do you think gay bars should be forced to open their doors to anyone who want to come in and throw back a few? After all discrimination is bad and that is discrimination.

mnottertail -> RE: Indiania can now discriminant against anyone (4/3/2015 12:45:53 PM)

I have never known a gay bar to discriminate, I have been in lots of them. But that is not to say that there are those who dont.

Myself, I've only frequented one gay bar. All me and my student friends did - gay or straight: it was the only bar in our area of SE London that felt safe.
