Well, I pair my socks and even roll them. But I don't think I can decide whether the "cooker" is a crock pot, an oven or a stove?

Maybe she misspelled "cookie"? I'm an expert on cookies.

Eating?

Because I'm an expert on baking them.
Which reminds me, I need chocolate chips.

To be serious though, I don't know anything about cars. He does. He does almost all of his own car maintenance. He believes everyone should be able to change a tire, check fluids, change their brake pads. All our kids know how, the only one who gets a pass is me. Because of my arthritis, I can't get things open, undo lug nuts etc.

If the op expects a partner to have the same skill set she does, does she also have his skill set? Is she willing to learn how to rewire lamps, do simple plumbing repairs, car repairs, etc?

Because it makes more sense for us to have different skill sets. To compliment each other as opposed to mirroring each other.

I carefully roll paired socks! (so the folds are all nice and it's set the way it's worn) (don't do that stupid ball thing that ruins the elastic much quicker though). I don't even pair my own socks though since I only bother for people's socks that I care about.

There's daily chores and then there's life-skills. Having someone never cook because once in a while he changes a light bulb is a bit weird. Granted, in this lifestyle, it's a bit different :p Also, he might be doing a whole lot more everyday (maintaining a huge estate or something) that makes up for the not cooking.

Wait a minute... wait a minute... wait a minute... HEY!!!

Are you telling me that defeating Baldur's gate isn't a feat of epic responsibility and that I should be doing other shit?

My man *can* cook and will do it. Fact is though, I'm more skilled than he is at it, and I would *want* to eat the food I prepare for us as a steady diet. He has taken responsibility for a lot of things, so yeah, making consistently edible meals that are not meatloaf every night (he makes a killer meatloaf--but yeah...) is a job I have no problems taking up.

I don't even see this as a trading skillsets issue. This is more of a "how have you supported yourself without a partner?" issue.

I expect my men to know how to cook. Not because they should give me a break from it now and again (though it is nice,) but because it shows some form of self reliance. I don't want to be "needed."

Also, "twue subs" are overrated.

Greetings all - hope everyone is doing awesome, tax season so bit busy - FR-

This topic just gave me a bit of a giggle when I first read it. Sir has a bit of a sock fetish and OCD about the manner in which his dress socks are folded as far as the patterns matching and the top edge being folded just so. As far as Sir knowing what to do with a cooking pot I think he could burn water, but BMMAS has become a term of endearment for me. My opinion is that it would be nice if Sir possess similar skills such as cooking and folding socks in the manner he likes it, but then again that is what he has me for. It makes me happy to complete my chores and make sure I am pleasing him by ensuring he has fluffy towels, his favorite meal, and baked goodies and to some extend exploring anticipatory service instead. For me this is more of an act of obedience and being proactive and mindful to ensure his needs are met. I guess opinions differ greatly, but I have found that having different skill sets that compliment each other is best.

As far as this showing self reliance, I think that Sir or Dominate shows that more in control. I think that the self reliant portion would be more skills that I need to pose to take care of the things the Dominant has asked me to take care effectively. The joy for me is making this happen for him. So again say BMMAS is music to me ears.

if someone paired my socks up I'd slap them. I always wear odd socks, and it's a thing of mine. I don't even have the same colour socks next to each other whilst drying. my son sometimes thinks he's being funny, and will ball them up in matching pairs, and he gets a slap for it.

as for cooking; I like a man that can cook for me once in a while. my ex used to say 'i'll cook tonight', but then I'd end up having to supervise the whole time anyway which defeated the object. my ex playmate could cook, and it was nice to have a meal made for me, and he was even allowed the run of my kitchen, which is generally unheard of for anyone that doesn't live in my house. I have made sure that my son can cook, and look after himself too. he's really great, sees when I'm having really bad days, and will cook so that I don't have to.

We are renters and I don't have/won't get permission to install those- but I've thought about it.

Easier to get forgiveness than ask for permission :p

This made me think about things...
To date I don't think I've ever allowed a submissive to cook me a meal. I'm staunchly protective of my cooking area and incredibly fussy about the way things are cooked.
We probably don't own a single pair of socks between us. At this moment in time I have a stripy sock on my left foot and a flowery one on my right.
We don't have a toilet seat so its never up or down!
I've never let a submissive or the other half iron for me. Again I'm overly fussy and I know they'd do it wrong!

This might be an odd question Maria... But how exactly do you poo with no toilet seat?

That is so sexy. Have you seen the cross fold? https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=792356830818381&pnref=story

I tested that fold out. Takes up about the same amount of room in the long run.

Good quads will do that for ya, too. ;)

btw: Did anyone ever define 'cooker' because we didn't use that term when I was in culinary school. Pressure cooker maybe?
