ORIGINAL: bounty44 and then the people who criticize others for forgiving him, as if forgiveness is a crime. never minding that we are all in need of it, no matter how badly we have acted. And what if they didn't forgive him? what would have happened then? Let alone their parents admit to use violence to train their children to obbedience and subjogation in order for them to be quite and never question authority and this for sure doesn't help them to self determinate, but all the adult figures around them agreed in covering that up, included a police officer (that by the way turned out to be a pedophile), on top of that they do not go to school (where they could have told a teacher) and are not allowed to see persons not apporved by the parents so really what choice did they have other than forgive (read suck it up)? Then there would have been hardness and bitterness in their hearts and their relationship with their brother would have been forever damaged. Beats me how “let alone…” follows your opening sentence. In any event---some people might consider spanking (if that is what you are referring to) as violence. Others don’t. as that is very unlikely new to you, why do you even bring it up? And children don’t get spanked in order to be quiet, or never question authority. They get spanked when they are dangerously rebellious and need corrective discipline. if you want to complain about it, maybe first ask grown-ups who were spanked as kids how that effected them. If you paid any attention at all to the interviews with the family, or the children, you wouldn’t be saying that everyone agreed to a “cover-up.” I’ll give you benefit of the doubt here and trust that you havent. Last thing---all you just said there at the end has absolutely nothing to do with whether or not forgiveness is given. Forgiveness is a condition of the heart towards another person who has wronged you and is completely independent of external circumstances.
