I'm a lefty, Sanity. Lefties bitch about the powers that be *in any given country, including their own*. The affairs of my own country are *not* in order, and some of the problems I see here are replicated in your own country.

Do you see how that works? As a lefty, you learn to see the faults in your own country's powerful people, and you thus you learn to see the faults in another country's powerful people.

It isn't a 'nationalist thing'. I'm well aware that the Americans saw us English off a couple of centuries ago ... I don't care and in many ways I sympathise. It's a thing that's based on 'suspicion of the powerful', whatever country we're talking about, very much - indeed, mostly - including my own.

Do you get it? Please, please tell me that you get it. My doctor is tired of patching up the cuts and bruises on my forehead after I've been bashing it against my desk. He gets pissed off at writing prescriptions that say "super-power migraine-killing tablets" and "Don't read any of Sanity's posts till your brain has stopped dripping out of the cracks in your forehead'.

You vote for your tribe and expect your politician will betray you. Of course, someone like Hillary has shown her only tribe is herself. So that doesn't count. But, no politician I've ever seen will stand fast.

The reason it seems like it's happening more frequently is because it's being sensationalized to sell more advertising. Headlines are the hook, and blood, murder, and death are mighty hooks (as are anything the Kardashians do).

I actually think Gore became an Eco nut to make money. I don't believe for a second that he believes what he says. He found, as a politician, that propaganda to useful idiots was valuable politically and just turned it to cash when he got out.
