ORIGINAL: PeonForHer God knows. To me, assuming they've got the right man, unless it's shown that he's mad, it seems pretty much to be a hate crime. Though how 'hate crime' is defined in Ohio, or indeed anywhere in the USA, is not something I'm versed in. I'm still trying to get my mind wrapped around your earlier statement, a week or so ago, about Britains concept of being mad as opposed to our concept of being legally incompetent to participate in your own defense. I enjoy seeing and understanding cultural differences. So, in this case, had it occurred in Briatain, how would being mad affect the case? You'll have to post the link to the comment in question, Hunter. Ya, I'm not going to look for it. I think it was in a discussion of the SC church shooting. There was discussion if the guy would plead insanity and you mentioned that in Britain there was a totally different perspective on how people In Britain looked at that sort of thing. Since the U.S. common law is a derivative of British legal history I've been wondering about our link in how we view it as opposed to how you view it. Whether the outlook has split or it has a similar root still.
