Ya, I'm not going to look for it. I think it was in a discussion of the SC church shooting. There was discussion if the guy would plead insanity and you mentioned that in Britain there was a totally different perspective on how people In Britain looked at that sort of thing. Since the U.S. common law is a derivative of British legal history I've been wondering about our link in how we view it as opposed to how you view it. Whether the outlook has split or it has a similar root still.

Only rings the faintest of bells, I'm afraid. Sorry, can't help ....

I think there is ample reason to suspect hate crimes are being committed by members of all races.

Does anyone believe this will get better or that removing a confederate battle flag and canceling Dukes of Hazard reruns will change things or avoid more issues or will it simply encourage more episodes of a new drama, encourage attacks on Whites and the work they and their fathers and mothers did in founding and establishing this country and fighting for states rights and freedoms? I see the time for this to get better as having past. Perhaps it past when the Confederacy lost their freedom, perhaps it was lost at a small mid-west neighborhood where Blacks rioted and burned for a man who was guilty after all and against an innocent White policeman who then suffered for doing his job. So one must not be surprised by an increase in Black on White assaults which will have to be taken into account when one reviews their personal feelings on owning guns for the purpose outlined in the Constitution, a document written in a very dangerous time, one that pales when compared to our time.

The hateful will always try to find ways to incite more hatred towards their choosen prey. The dumbest thing is to let them manipulate your sense of 'good' to be trampled by 'evil'. Humanity has fought this battle for many years (dare I say 2 million years....). It comes in different flavors, styles, and ideas, but in the end its about one side trying to kill the other side. In the end, the battlefield, be it literal or metaphorical, is littered with destruction on an awesome scale.

An yet, people find ways to co-exist, to put down that hatred. For many years now, Muslims in the United States have both been targeted and attacked. An yet, many religious groups have band together, to stand with those Muslims, against the hatred. For they know the same could happen to them. When a people are allowed to sit, discuss, be thoughtful and considerate, many pains can be healed. Much hatred drained away. Its a constant task, but the benefits of doing so far out weigh the costs.

Each generation has to endure 'the sins of their fathers' as well as deal with the problems the youngest generation experiences. That we need advise, help, and teaching in one moment, and do the same towards those younger than us. To recognize the manipulators and how they manipulate the 'evil' they bring into the word. Distrust your fellow citizen, because they might be (insert what ever political hatred you wish here). That Muslims could be terrorists. Those crossing the boarder are just vile, drug running, rapists. Blacks walking in a neighborhood with a hoodie is up to no good.

The 'good' people also undue some of their efforts. Meaning they create more work for themselves than they should. Consider the NAACP for a moment. A good organization that tries to better a certain block of US Citizens. Unfortunately, they make one concept of those people, more important than it should; the pigment of their skin. That there could be intelligent, educated, and even wise individuals within this organization; its constantly shadowed/dogged/under-valued because the skin color has to be important for something. Why not hair color? Height? Weight? Eye color? Right handedness verse Left handedness? Those with chronic health problems verse the healthy? These are all physical concepts of the human body; why are they not used to single a people out.

When I look at President Obama, I see an American. I see a US Citizen. I see someone that has gone to school, raised a family, and did many things within the public sector. Yes, he's black, so what? He's shorter than I am too! Should I blame him for things because he's short?

I think your a good guy when it comes right down to it Arturas. We disagree on things, yes. I just think from your post here, your feeling rather down about humanity. I believe there are many more 'good' people in the world than there are 'evil' ones. An for that, still much hope exists in the world. While corporations and such push profits if a cure for cancer (or any of the other millions of problems) was found; those medical doctors would think on ways of helping all of humanity (not just the rich and powerful) to obtaining the medicine. With those doctors are many more individuals whom would try to do the same.
