You sure as hell arent.

I do hope that anyone who believes that he's superior to me, as a malesub, understands the benefits of keeping quiet about that particular view. [:)]

I am not sure whomeveer said that, but if you want my 2 cents, Lucy is superior to you based upon, solely, your screen name. Besides, I want to borrow Lucy's body :D

SirDave501 -> RE: Is the Political/Religious Discussion board becoming more combative? (8/30/2015 8:23:21 AM)

I've been of the opinion for years (no, this is NOT my 1st profile here) that the Political and Religion boards should be shut down. They really have no place on a site devoted to BDSM, especially with so many narrow-minded individuals spewing BS all over every conversation. It has always been bad but with the mods gone it is even worse.
I would love the option of turning off the message box - it would make using the main site so much more pleasant.

kdsub -> RE: Is the Political/Religious Discussion board becoming more combative? (8/30/2015 8:28:17 AM)

Why come here then?

SirDave501 -> RE: Is the Political/Religious Discussion board becoming more combative? (8/30/2015 8:34:31 AM)

If there were a way to remove it from the main site I would never know - or care- about any of the crap spewed here.
There are, on rare occasion, interesting discussions in other threads - those are sometimes worth seeing. But the Pol/Rel forums have long-since outlived any usefulness/value they ever had. Even the intelligent posters get dragged down into the muck.

kdsub -> RE: Is the Political/Religious Discussion board becoming more combative? (8/30/2015 8:45:53 AM)

But if you have a choice not to enter why should you care if others do? It is not detracting from the rest of the site and it's purpose. Just don't come here and let us spew to our hearts content... We must like it or we would not come here... I will promise not to try and have the forums you attend closed...how about that?

Butch

I dont think the mods are gone, but frankly this board is far more tame than some of the heavily moderated boards using an army of jtrig posers to troll spread disinfo and stimulate site business where moderation is typically used as a weapon to stomp 'free speech' and other 'hot' and 'unpopular' topics as a means (plus other agendas) of conforming with godaddy use restrictions who has deemed themselves above the constitution to enforce their draconian political views on their clients.

Aww, you poor thing. Did they ignore your suggestion and let the section stay. How mean of them. But don't despair, not all is lost. You always have the option of just staying away and not reading this forum. After all I am pretty sure no one is holding a gun to your head and making you read it.

To the extent that the people at large and especially those who would seem to care the most and still do little or nothing to change the status quo and as a direct result are so continually distracted as to bring no meaningful effect, this forum and all other forums like it...are working just as they are suppose to.

Sports, entertainment, less or with the exception of the best of the performing arts, entrenched political dogmas wholly without any objectivity, are to be distracting to no real effect on what the real powers are and their goals irrespective of political party affiliation or sympathies.

For example. one can rant all they wish about economic inequality, global warming, political correctness, the so-called welfare state to the obvious omission of those whose welfare is benefiting from it and among almost any number of additional subjects or so-called issues, yet...rant is the goal, change isn't. There you have the meaty substance of Internet discussions.

The moronic, intellectual vacuousness of most populations (and forum boards)...is legion. Far too many even falling prey to the Orwellian prerequisite...changing the meaning of words.

Maybe this and other boards too are becoming more vitriolic and maybe that's a good thing rather then as opposed to 'taking it to the streets' as it were. But just as in the past when without such electronic/digital flexibilities where all issues/politics really were local, one can be trusted in being correct and somewhat successful with the occasional small victory, even those that do make the mainstream media, yet nothing of any real substantive change, will occur.

What happens as exemplified by Ken (another OP) and including myself, being of an age that the future is now, it is the young who had better not remain so distracted because it is going to get a whole lot worse and not 'before it gets better' because [it] isn't getting any better.
[/quo
I agree Mr.Rodgers, many rather engage in the partisan attacks, while the country slips down the toilet.
I agree it can be a distraction for many, but not for all.

I'm making an effort not to feed the trolls anymore. One can only take so much gerrymandered stupidity, closed mindedness, and useless thinking. Who would have thought the internet would be such a strong, vibrant crutch for gullible brainlessness / motivated reasoning. (Think right wing feeder-sites.)

At least now we all know that there's an internet link to stake a claim for anything --- and this is especially important to the crowd that hates experts, facts, history, good investigative journalism, and science.

That Courthouse Clerk in Kentucky about sums up everything --- an army of jackhammers couldn't punch out her bigotry masquerading as "religion."

An army of jackhammers couldn't punch out others' ignorant "patriotism," nativism, racism, sexism, and other forms of magical (and often mean-spirited) thinking.

Is the atmosphere down here in the Dungeon of Political and Religious Discussions, becoming more hostile, adversarial and combative?

In the few years I've been here, I've noticed a kind of ebb and flow. Sometimes it's like non-stop fireworks, and then other times it quiets down. I guess for me, I've seen political discussions in various forums which usually degenerate to the same level or even worse than what you'd normally see here.

I suppose a larger question might be whether there's an overall trend towards political discussions becoming more hostile, adversarial, and combative. More people may be stressed over the uncertainties about the economy, so that might lead to shorter tempers. There's a general feeling of "I'm mad as hell, and I'm not going to take it anymore!"

Man, you seem to be taking after Sanity's Insanity. So I'll break it down slowly: it isn't trolling if it's true. There, hope that clears some things up [;)]

Well, according to those who took the poll, this place has become a more hostile environment.
I have to say I agree.
It is what it is.

Peace
