its become more combative here I think because the old politics are losing to a more progressive and moderate group of people. and they hate that of course.

since his names been mentioned,..... take "sanity" for instance, he's been proven to of been very wrong on a number of threads, so what does he do? leaves that one & starts another thread with an inflammatory subject with insulting people politically left his primary goal.

he seems to Me not to care if his facts are correct, just that he gets to spew names at the left and have something to fight about. Not have a sane discussion, just fight.

Cite please.

I assume there is another reason behind this

I think many women on CM/CS have experience with the phenomenon of insulting messages "out of the blue" in their inboxes. I myself have, a few others I know too, and I assume, there are more.
Usually this ends after a while, either because getting no reaction makes it boring, or these women discover the "block sender" button.

And there is a nice little fetish called narratophilia (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Narratophilia), getting off by insulting a partner, which can be nice for sure among consenting partners while embracing each other or whatever else is one's delight.

But I guess for some this P/R board is the true platform where to outlive this little fancy of theirs with great energy and in great number, and when observing the passion in what and how they do it, probably great reward for them too.

there is of course the little flaw about the consent or rather non-consent of others to be insulted in abundance, and maybe the intention of creation of this board not primarily as to provide wank-fodder ...

It as always like this before someone who was cozy with 3 whined enough to get nearly everyone who made him look like an idiot banned.

~ FR ~

Ever since P&R was split into two sections, the more moderated one has accumulated a stunning total of only 5 topics, only one of those accruing more than 8 posts, and the OP has never posted in any of them.

Draw your own conclusions.

FR: I am not bothered by the acrimony within this thread or here in the feisty dialogue section.
Once in awhile I decide I want to 'play' here in the basement. I usually hold my own and I know what to expect.

I do have an objection to the spillage of malice from here that has seeped up to the Off Topic Section.
Until the moderation resumes, I have no expectation that people will stop hissing at each other there, but it would be nice.

Please resume your sparkling discourse.

If I wanted an issue discussed I would post it where people go. Hardly anyone even checks for threads in the moderate section. So I don't believe posting here says much about the op.

I'm glad you pointed that out. I've been hallucinating a fairly heavily trafficked Off Topic section, and an even more heavily trafficked one for Polls. I'll have to check my medication. Nevertheless, I see you drew a conclusion and seem to think it's mine. That earns you a turban, just please be patient. The ones for this section are on back-order due to demand.

The only issues with this section are the punkassmotherfuckers who start a fight and then go sniviling to the mods about how someone trimmed their pubic hairs with a chain saw.
Other than that I love it down here.
How are your spanish lessons going?

Well, I think you'd probably have to become a Priest first, then work your way up to Bishop, then you get to be Cardinal. Then they'll give you a hat like this:

Then, you'd only be one step away from becoming Pope.

Ive been binge watching The Borgias. Two different productions. Fascinating stuff and bloody good fun...a lil wonky on the history in both of them, but cardinals....oh la la.
sorry not a hijack really, just your pic brought it to mind.

Ohhh, that's the hat he wants? Well in that case, there's a slight service charge.

~FR~

Acrimony, by itself (albeit unpleasant), wouldn't be so bad if it came with argument and insight and points and evidence and discussion.

Instead, it's become silly -- childish and nasty insults with virtually no discussion on topics, a few posters who make everything about their pet issue, and one poster who makes everything about himself.

It's quite a show. Just not very interesting.

I think you should reassess your leading statement considering the political realities of today.

Butch

Actually, the past 5 years have seen independents grow over 15%

I would say with my grace on these boards that that particular hat would be quite appropriate... Hey is it only me or can you hear the heavenly music as you read my words?

Butch
