Put simply...yes

America was no stronger...and it was also the battle ground of world powers... yet we took control of our future...and America is not alone in this there have been many examples throughout history... In fact i would say most great nations of this world had similar beginnings.

You always like to use the Jews as an example...look what they have accomplished in forming a nation... no bit of land on this earth has been more of a world power battle ground... yet they not only survived as a Jewish entity but are thriving under extreme circumstances.. So should and could other countries of the middle east. The people of a nation are in the end responsible for whom they allow to rule them.

Butch

Dont get me started on how the French and Spanish helped you defeat England, nor the fact that if we hadnt won the seven years war you would all be speaking French. Some of you have little understanding of your own history, let alone anyone elses.

And you know this how? Given than England defeated France and America defeated England, it would seem to follow that we could also have defeated the French.

There are now approximately 70,000 Bosnians in St. Louis...and keep in mind the total population of St. Louis is only 318,000 or so... 22 percent of the population are immigrants or at least first generation immigrants all in the last 25 years... They are a fine addition to our town.

You call my post naive... to me those who think that way are just making excuses for the failure of the people of the region to stand up and defend their way of life and choice of leadership. It has happened in the past in other parts of the world and will happen in the future but it is still a fact that the many can and should control the few who scheme to take away their future... Running from it has never worked and never will. Making excuses and calling them victims will change nothing as well.

Just because I think it is wrong for the able bodied to become refugees does not mean I would or should deny them sanctuary... Remember I am not talking the old, sick, injured, or women and children... just those that could and should have fought years ago and today for their families.

And how do you propose they do that kdsub? with knives, forks and spoons? with wooden hairbrushes? These men are not armed and have no access to arms.

Do you also believe the unarmed Jewish men shouldn't of tried to flee Germany on the eve of WW2? This is no different.

kdsub -> RE: Heartbreaking -- Drowned Syrian Boy -- Whole Family lost but Father (9/26/2015 10:55:39 AM)

No one in that part of the world seems to have problems finding weapons of war... would you not agree?

Yes it is... Jews were a very small portion of the population where the majority agreed and even aided in the persecution.... This is not the case in the Middle East.

Warplanes, tanks and bombs only seem to be available to one side. Jeez, Butch, this is not like a bunch of doughty partisans up against the Whermarcht, the former outnumbered but both with the similar weapons.

America didnt defeat England alone, I know that history, and even simple facts, are not your strong point. Even so I didnt think you were this stupid.

Okay I did...sue me.

Still naive, I would have thought you could have googled the situation in the last 24 hours. Let me put it plainly so you may understand it easier.

Opps, I already did that yesterday.

America wouldn't necessarily have had to defeat France alone either. Alliances shift, and wars always hold surprises. If you want to run around loose calling other people stupid, you would look less silly without the turban.

Still flinging your racist turban remarks about then.

Lets not talk about what may have happened during the Seven Years War, but what actually happened. Feel free to start a thread on the subject.

The points about migrants are way above your thinking level, as your claims in this thread have shown.

Desperate migrants fleeing war grateful to finally reach safety in Finland....

Tornio (Finland) (AFP) - Hundreds of predominantly Iraqi migrants who have travelled through Europe to reach Finland are turning back, saying they don't want to stay in the sparsely-populated country on Europe's northern frontier because it's too cold and boring... "You can tell the world I hate Finland. It's too cold, there's no tea, no restaurants, no bars, nobody on the streets, only cars," 22-year-old Muhammed told AFP in Tornio, as the mercury struggled to inch above 10 degrees Celsius (50 Fahrenheit) on a recent blustery grey day. ~Source

blnymph -> RE: Heartbreaking -- Drowned Syrian Boy -- Whole Family lost but Father (9/27/2015 5:27:30 AM)

for those who are wondering about ungrateful Iraqis

I recommend looking for Tornio (+Haparanda) on a map (Hint: northernmost Gulf of Bothnia where the Finnish and Swedish borderline meets the coast)
and maybe you also look for the Arctic circle which is only a few km further north
the most recent sensational event was the opening of an Ikea retail store in Haparanda in 2003 (so says Wikipedia)

It is about as far north as the northern tip of Baffin bay, or Northern Alaska

just a few bits of maybe helpful information

Before you put forth sources like that, try doing reverse image search and discover where those pictures really came from. If someone posts fake pictures of refugees in Finland, you can bet whatever they've written beneath those pictures is bollocks too.

Well by all means tell us where they come from then. The first one I checked, on the basis of your post, was found only on websites that had picked up the Yahoo story.
