A House panel on abortion was 'brought to the nation's attention' recently by Republicans. In response to a collection of videos from the Center for Medical Progress (CMP). CMP has run a series of highly editted and misleading videos that have tried to show Planned Parenthood as evil. Taking money from the federal government and used it to help private political groups.

Anyone with a brain and not a mindless minion of pseudo-christianity knows that the videos are all fake. That the Republicans are trying to push the removal of funding for cheap and petty political points with their base (whom are equally cheap and petty).

quote:

(from source)
Oversight Committee Chairman Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, opened the hearing with an emotional story of his mother and father dying from cancer. He choked up at times as he talked about losing them. He talked about his wife's work with a plastic surgeon who does reconstructive surgery for women with breast cancer. He then pivoted to his argument that the government should spend more on cancer screening and research while ending funding for Planned Parenthood.

I have to ask the question: What does this moron's rantings have to do with early childhood development and health?

The US Governemnt, if its not known, ALREADY spends a pile of money on cancer screenings. One of the 'free' concepts in the Affordable Care Act is a free cancer screening to all individuals. An research for cancer is much more than Planned Parenthood. So it begs the question:

Is this moron from Utah, not only the ranking member of the Republicans on the panel, but the leader, so completely ignorant of information?

Answer: No. He's just using the bullshit storm to cover spending taxpayer dollars in a wasteful manner. Where are all the 'fiscal conservatives'? Oh that's right, COMPLETELY SILENT! Yeah, they only bitch when a non-conservative wastes federal dollars on things....

If....ANYONE...should be investigated, it should be this 'Center for Medical Progress'. We should investigate the liars, right? The ones whom are protected by the Republican Party? Yeah, so many attacks on President Obama for lying here and there. If the Republican Party and its supporters were so concern with truth and fact; why allow the Center for Medical Progress to remain investigated?

The video from the source shows a well studied woman being attacked be a sightless little man whom hides facts because they are inconvenient to his 'plans'. Maybe we should...ALSO...investigate the Republican Party's role and helping of this Center for Medical Progress.

Taking money from the federal government and used it to help private political groups.

Anyone with a brain and not a mindless minion of pseudo-christianity knows that the videos are all fake...

On August 27, Planned Parenthood released what they claimed was a “forensic analysis” report on CMP’s published investigative footage. In reality, the report is a pseudoscientific production by Fusion GPS, a political opposition-research company that has no forensic certifications. While the report, which contains multiple errors, set out to delegitimize CMP’s video evidence, it only provides evidence of the opposite: the report admits that “This analysis did not reveal widespread evidence of substantive video manipulation” and that it “shows NO evidence of audio manipulation.”
Planned Parenthood’s review of the undercover meetings with Dr. Deborah Nucatola, Dr. Mary Gatter, Dr. Savita Ginde, and Melissa Farrell identifies sections in the full footage of these conversations where bathroom breaks or waiting time between meetings were removed to protect the investigators. The Center for Medical Progress provides original recording files to law enforcement and official investigators, but endeavors to present our findings to the public in the most accessible way possible. This brief will review the specific cuts and other issues raised by the Planned Parenthood report.
Video 1: Dr. Deborah Nucatola, Senior Director of Medical Services, PPFA
The Planned Parenthood report notes that two different camera angles recorded the meeting with Dr. Nucatola. In the full footage of this conversation, the primary camera (Actor 1) is used throughout, until Actor 1 needed to use the restroom at encoded timestamp 14:32:07 (framecount ~038200). At this point, footage from the second camera (Actor 2) is supplemented so viewers can follow the conversation that continued between Dr. Nucatola and Actor 2, while Actor 1 uses the restroom. When Actor 1 returns, the primary camera footage does as well. The timestamp on the primary footage reads 14:37:43 when Actor 1 returns–the approximately 5.5 minute change in timestamp corresponds to the 5.5 minute discussion Actor 2 has alone with Dr. Nucatola.
At 14:38:06, Dr. Nucatola leaves to use the restroom, and returns at 14:41:08. The logistical discussion between the actors is not part of the conversation with Dr. Nucatola and like discussions between only the actors arriving and leaving the meeting, it is not included. Viewers following the conversation between Nucatola and the two actors hear the continuous dialog about using the restroom at these points in the video.
The bathroom breaks and actors’ logistics do not change Dr. Nucatola’s statements, and the brief change of camera footage allows the viewer to see and hear the full conversation with Dr. Nucatola.
Video 2: Dr. Mary Gatter, President of the Planned Parenthood Medical Directors’ Council, PPFA
Again, the Planned Parenthood report attempts to cast aspersions on the investigative footage because of the use of two cameras. In reality, the use of multiple cameras corroborates the scenes recorded and enhances the evidentiary value of the footage. CMP provides law enforcement and official investigators with the original files from all recording devices.
Each actor uses the restroom at the beginning of the meeting with Dr. Mary Gatter. While Actor 2 uses the restroom, Actor 1’s camera documents the beginning of the conversation with Dr. Gatter. When Actor 2 returns to the table and Actor 1 leaves to use the restroom at 12:04:53, the camera changes to Actor 2’s footage, and remains there for the rest of the conversation.
As in Video 1, the continuous dialogue around the camera transition makes it clear there is a bathroom break.
Video 3: Dr. Savita Ginde, VP and Medical Director, Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains
The actors spent almost an entire work day at the Planned Parenthood facility shown in this video, with only a fraction of that time spent in conversation with Dr. Ginde. The full footage of their conversation with Dr. Ginde begins in a conference room meeting with her, and this conversation continues until the Planned Parenthood staff break for lunch at timestamp 10:27:07. The actors were not taken into the path lab until after abortions began and Planned Parenthood was making fetal tissue available for review at timestamp 11:01:40. The actors recorded several periods of “down-time” between abortion cases where they were alone in the path lab or in break rooms discussing logistics. Again, bathroom breaks and logistical discussions between only the actors are only presented to law enforcement and official investigators in order to protect the actors.
At 11:45:46, the Planned Parenthood so-called “forensic report” erroneously identifies a stop in the recording device. Dr. Ginde leaves the actors alone in a waiting room, and so the conversation footage resumes when Dr. Ginde returns for the one of the actors at timestamp 12:21:55.
Planned Parenthood also takes issue with two statements recorded in the dialogue: first, Dr. Ginde’s sad remark over a dismembered 11.6-week fetus that, “It’s a baby,” and second, the medical assistant’s excited exclamation that a 10-week aborted fetus is “another boy.” The Planned Parenthood report does not mark out by timestamp or framecount exactly where these statements occur in the recording, but only gives vague estimates of where they occur in the video run-time.
While the first remark from Dr. Ginde, at timestamp 11:05:07, is faint, careful listening makes the dialogue clear beginning at 11:04:52:
Actor 1: “Was that crack, was that the, just the little bits of the skull?”
Medical Assistant: “Mhm. I’m looking for–I guess we’re missing one leg. And a foot.”
Dr. Ginde: “It’s a baby.”
Dr. Ginde’s distinctive voice can be heard after the Medical Assitant references the leg and the foot of the baby, murmuring in a low, despondent tone, “It’s a baby,” and the bilabial “B” sound can be heard clearly at the end of the phrase. This is consistent with other remarks made by Dr. Ginde during the site visit, including her description of a 12-week aborted fetus at timestamp 13:54:50 as “war-torn.” The Medical Assistant also referred to the aborted 11.6 fetus as “cute” at 11:04:31, which elicited an inaudible response from Ginde.
At timestamp 14:08:29, the Planned Parenthood Medical Assistant exclaims, “And another boy!” when examining a 10-week aborted fetus. This same Medical Assistant referred to an 11.6-week aborted fetus as “cute,” frequently described looking for fetal extremities as “legs” and “feet,” and was also looking for “twins” in several of the abortion cases. The sex of fetuses was never brought up by the actors.
It is significant that Planned Parenthood singles these two statements out for special scrutiny: they are admissions from Planned Parenthood abortion workers about the violence inherent in their work. But the way the report focuses on them while simultaneously refusing to precisely flag them seems to indicate Planned Parenthood also has a guilty conscience for child-killing.
Video 4: Melissa Farrell, Director of Research, Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast
The Planned Parenthood report identifies a missing recording file from timestamp 07:46:47 to 08:15:15. This was due solely to human error, as the missing file, which begins at timestamp 07:46:48 and ends at 08:15:13, includes several key admissions from Farrell about PPGC’s arbitrary budgeting practices for tissue collection charges and willingness to modify abortion procedures to get more intact specimens (which even Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards has admitted). The missing clip has been supplemented here.
From 8:44:26 to 8:48:39 (mistakenly notated in the Planned Parenthood report as 8:44:39), Actor 1 uses the restroom while Farrell leaves the room to grab documents off of the printer. This is clear from the dialogue. Actor 2 also left to use the restroom during the same time. At 12:58:34, Farrell led the actors to a break room, and actors took the time to swap out recording equipment batteries and discuss logistics with each other. Farrell returns to take the actors to the clinic’s path lab at 13:50:18.
The Planned Parenthood report erroneously cites a clip of a “credit card” at 13:11:59 for the Farrell video, which is actually from the Gatter video.
Conclusion:
The Planned Parenthood report contains multiple erroneous statements and conclusions, yet by its own words finds no “substantive video manipulation” and “no evidence of audio manipulation.” CMP’s investigative video recordings are high-quality and reproducible evidence that can be provided to law enforcement and official investigators in original recording format.
On Friday, the Center for Medical Progress released the full, uncut video of the conversation between undercover investigators form CMP and top officials with StemExpress, which buys aborted babies and their body parts from Planned Parenthood. The full footage is of a shorter video that summarized the meetings earlier this week.
The release of the full, unedited video also comes one day after Planned Parenthood released a new report claiming the eight videos released exposing it were “altered.” The abortion giant says the videos were manipulated and therefore not eligible for serious inquiry by Congress, which has launched two joint investigations of the abortion corporation. Still, Planned Parenthood’s own paid for experts admitted that there was no evidence of any manipulation of the audio in any of the eight shocking videos.
Meanwhile, two committees in the House of Representatives have already launched investigations of Planned Parenthood. One committee is looking into whether or not the abortion business is breaking federal law by altering abortion procedures to better obtain aborted baby body parts for sale. Another committee, among other things, is investigating the Obama administration and whether there is any connection between it and the abortion giant.
The House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform wants to know if the Obama administration, via the Department of Health and Human Services, provided any federal grants to Planned Parenthood that ultimately went to pay for the sales of aborted baby body parts and if they were used by Planned Parenthood to “support transactions involving fetal tissue.”
The expose’ videos catching Planned Parenthood officials selling the body parts of aborted babies have shocked the nation. Here is a list of all eight:
In the first video: Dr. Deborah Nucatola of Planned Parenthood commented on baby-crushing: “We’ve been very good at getting heart, lung, liver, because we know that, so I’m not gonna crush that part, I’m gonna basically crush below, I’m gonna crush above, and I’m gonna see if I can get it all intact.”
In the second video: Planned Parenthood’s Dr. Mary Gatter joked, “I want a Lamborghini” as she negotiated the best price for baby parts.
In the third video: Holly O’Donnell, a former Stem Express employee who worked inside a Planned Parenthood clinic, detailed first-hand the unspeakable atrocities and how she fainted in horror over handling baby legs.
In the fourth video: Planned Parenthood’s Dr. Savita Ginde stated, “We don’t want to do just a flat-fee (per baby) of like, $200. A per-item thing works a little better, just because we can see how much we can get out of it.” She also laughed while looking at a plate of fetal kidneys that were “good to go.”
In the fifth video: Melissa Farrell of Planned Parenthood-Gulf Coast in Houston boasted of Planned Parenthood’s skill in obtaining “intact fetal cadavers” and how her “research” department “contributes so much to the bottom line of our organization here, you know we’re one of the largest affiliates, our Research Department is the largest in the United States.”
In the sixth video: Holly O’Donnell described technicians taking fetal parts without patient consent: “There were times when they would just take what they wanted. And these mothers don’t know. And there’s no way they would know.”
In the seventh and perhaps most disturbing video: Holly O’Donnell described the harvesting, or “procurement,” of organs from a nearly intact late-term fetus aborted at Planned Parenthood Mar Monte’s Alameda clinic in San Jose, CA. “‘You want to see something kind of cool,’” O’Donnell says her supervisor asked her. “And she just taps the heart, and it starts beating. And I’m sitting here and I’m looking at this fetus, and its heart is beating, and I don’t know what to think.”
In the eighth video: StemExpress CEO Cate Dyer admits Planned Parenthood sells “a lot of” fully intact aborted babies.

Lucylastic -> RE: Liars = Republican Party (9/29/2015 12:21:29 PM)

Judge William Orrick of the U.S. District Court of Northern California in San Francisco ruled that Center for Medical Progress and BioMax as corporate defendants cannot plead the Fifth Amendment in order to avoid responding to NAF’s discovery requests.

NAF filed a lawsuit in late July alleging civil conspiracy, racketeering, fraud, and breach of contract, among other civil and criminal allegations, stemming from the release of video footage deceptively edited to suggest that NAF members, including Planned Parenthood, are engaged in illegal trafficking of fetal baby parts.

NAF also sought a temporary restraining order blocking any further release of the attack videos.

Orrick issued the temporary restraining order, and ordered expedited discovery so that the National Abortion Federation could gather evidence to support its effort to obtain a preliminary injunction blocking CMP and Daleiden from releasing additional footage or other materials that NAF alleges the anti-choice front group fraudulently acquired. CMP and Daleiden used false identification cards to infiltrate NAF’s annual meetings in 2014 and 2015, according to NAF.

All defendants in the case, including the corporate defendants, informed the court last month that they planned to plead the Fifth Amendment in response to all of NAF’s discovery requests in order to avoid making any self-incriminatory statements.

No court in the country has ever permitted a corporation to plead the Fifth Amendment.

In an order issued on September 11, Orrick noted that “[t]here is no dispute that individual defendants, such as Daleiden and Newman, may invoke the Fifth Amendment, which may be asserted in civil proceedings in response to any official questions when the answers may incriminate the party who answers.”

However, during a hearing this morning, Orrick declined to extend the Fifth Amendment privilege to the corporate defendants, CMP and BioMax.

CMP has argued that none of the defendants should be required to provide responses to NAF’s discovery requests. It maintains that Orrick’s temporary restraining order is an unconstitutional prior restraint, or pre-publication censorship, on their First Amendment right to freedom of speech. It has also consistently claimed that NAF is unlikely to succeed in obtaining a preliminary injunction since prior restraints on speech are presumptively unconstitutional.

NAF claims that corporate defendants do not have testimonial privilege, and that in any event, the defendants waived their First Amendment rights when they knowingly and voluntarily signed confidentiality agreements prohibiting them from making public any video or audio recordings and materials of NAF educational meetings.

NAF says that it seeks to protect its members, many of whom are providers, from harassment from anti-choice extremists as a result of CMP releasing their names and identities to the public.

The battle as to whether or not the NAF is entitled to discovery has dragged on for weeks.

“It’s telling that the defendants have been very vocal in the media saying that they have nothing to hide, yet in Federal court they want to plead the Fifth,” NAF President and CEO Vicki Saporta said in a statement. “We are pleased with the results of today’s hearing, and are eager to move forward with the discovery process.”

Yesterday, the Ninth Circuit handed CMP a brief victory in the discovery battle when it issued an order blocking all discovery until the court has a chance to consider an emergency motion that CMP filed. The emergency motion asks the Ninth Circuit to forbid Orrick from allowing NAF to conduct discovery in support of its effort to obtain a preliminary injunction.

The emergency motion notes that CMP has filed several motions, including a motion to dismiss and an anti-SLAPP motion, which it claims obviates the need for CMP to provide any discovery whatsoever. (An anti-SLAPP motion is a special court document that a party to a lawsuit can file with a court when a complaint against that party arises from activity exercising the right of free speech. For an explainer of what an anti-SLAPP motion is in layperson’s terms, see this “lawsplainer” written by Ken White of Popehat.)

The Ninth Circuit issued an order granting CMP’s emergency motion in part. The Ninth Circuit’s order prohibits the district court from issuing “a preliminary injunction or requiring the defendants to produce any discoverable materials or to respond to interrogatories or inquiries, including whether they intend to invoke the Fifth Amendment as to specific questions or document requests.”

Such appellate orders staying discovery for a brief period of time are relatively commonplace in California. The stay simply places the litigation in a brief holding pattern while the appellate court has an opportunity to consider the arguments presented by the defendants, and the arguments presented by the plaintiff in response.

In a phone interview with RH Reality Check, counsel for NAF, Derek Foran of Morrison & Foerster called Orrick’s refusal to permit the corporate defendants to plead the fifth “the big headline.”

“Pending a decision from the Ninth Circuit on the writ petition, the district court is ready to set an aggressive discovery schedule and a schedule on the preliminary injunction motion,” Foran said. “We’ve been fighting for several weeks to get access to critical discovery, including what information Defendants stole from NAF, but we appear to be on the threshold of obtaining discovery.”

“But we need to wait for the Ninth Circuit,” he added.

It is sad when conservatives really can not come to terms with their own political party and philosophy. I understand that DENIAL is the first of five steps; but please guys, your in year seven of this denial of reality. The Republican party is in total shambles. Your best candidate for the Oval Office is a guy that can not answer a reasonable question with at least a semi-intelligent answer. You say you want good government, then do EVERYTHING to undermine that effort. So here you are attacking me, rather than looking at your own politics like rational adults. You can not make even a half decent argument justifying the words and actions of your own party and STILL think you have any credibility at the end of it.

You demand the President to be honest and open on things, right? I'm in favor of that to. He's not been able to be honest because there are parts of this nation that simply can not handle the truth like a FUCKING ADULT! When he's been honest, you have all attacked him, left, right, and center! You keep attacking the guy; why should he be honest and open? To a bunch of people that think he's the enemy rather than a fellow US Citizen?

I'm not just saying your party is full of shit. I'm giving the evidence that it is full of shit too! The evidence is more damning than my words. Not one of you have refuted the evidence. What are you doing about keeping your own political party honest? Letting them run government into the ground because none of you are mature enough to handle things like adults?

Your party is morally, ethically, scientifically, emotional, mentally, and most likely physically, bankrupt! Your party would make a deal with the Devil for more power. And then try to screw that entity with a loophole or fine text 'understandings'. Your party tried that in 1996; and this nation got George W. Bush & Company. Did you NOT learn from the mistakes the first time around to be dumb enough to do it a second time?

Does the nation have to pay for your ego bills? A 'currency' no institution in America excepts outside of 'Loony Ville, USA'?

All we get from you guys is BULLSHIT. And its stacked up, like LEGO blocks! It just doesn't fit together like LEGO blocks. When it falls over because none of you spent a dime being an engineer; you blame everyone else for your party's failures.

You dont like it when the Democrats do it. I can understand that. By...WHY THE FUCK DO YOU ALLOW YOUR OWN PARTY TO DO THE SAME SHIT?!?!?!?!

How about the THREE HOUR VIDEO I posted in a thread about this issue a month or two ago? To which all those heavily edited attack videos originate? Did you watch that one?

No of course not! Because that would...FUCKING DESTROY YOUR ARGUMENT.....

YOUR PARTY LIES! Your political party is 'OK' using a lie to push a political agenda while at the same time bashing the other political party on anything they think might be a lie (e.g. Benghazi and Hillary Clinton).

The three hour video shows the folks at Planned Parenthood meeting with the actors and discussing various subjects. Along the way the PPH folks explain the ethics that are involved with each process. At the time, I looked up bioethics of human parts sales and handling. It all seem pretty 'Legit'. This video existed for several months before it actually got 'aired' on TV.

If Planned Parenthood did any actual wrong doing, why are they not being investigated by the FBI? Yes President Obama and Democrats may have much influence and such; but even they would not protect PPH if the organization had broken laws. Since no laws are broken, and they handle issues ethically, where is your argument?

That you have problems handling facts and truth is not anyone else's problem but yours! Watch the video. I dare you. Your going to find those actors and their organization have ALOT to answer for. And that the reason they are not being investigated like Benghazi is because of the morally bankrupt Republicans you support!

A radio guy turned blogger with a degree in politics, no doubt that fuck is on the inside, with the real scoop.

He has the inside track.

I wonder if he went to Ben Carson, that gruesome doctor of death up to his elbows in baby parts for the sound bite?
Where do you suppose the blogger from Reality Check went o? Any indications what her leanings might be from her initial statement?

***See more of our coverage on the misleading Center for Medical Progress videos here.***

Conservative tactice #33....

Get the conversation off the topic because no conservative has a half decent counter argument to make.

Whats wrong CD, can't stay on topic? Got something to hide?

Youve yet to refute anything served up to you that refutes your claims. Claims that have absolutely NOTHING to do with the story from your source which was actually a pretty straightforward story about a Congressional hearing...about statements made by both sides...with NOTHING in the story itself offering any shoring up of either side. So what exact proof of the 'rightness' of Planned Parenthood did your source offer? Other than statements made by someone from Planned Parenthood?

Actually I did. A few months ago when this story broke out onto national media. I placed the first video and the three hour video links in the OP. At that time, not one of had a half decent counter argument. As observed, you all (dare I say....conspiracy) tried to move the topic away from the OP onto something else ASAP. Now months later, we have a Republican-led panel attacking Planned Parenthood, using the same discredited movies as justification to attack the organization.

I asked then as I do now: Why are conservatives 'OK' when their political party lies openly, but not 'OK' when the Democrats are telling the truth? Shouldn't we encourage honesty in Congress? If that is true, then why isn't this organization, 'Center for Medical Progress' being investigated? Its leader(s) dragged before the same panel and asked to testify? Explain their actions of smearing a well known organization with false accusations?

You can not even give me a single argument that sounds rational! That's your problem!

My evidence is a three hour video. That if watched, shows the PPH executives explaining to the actors the process and ethics involved at every stage of the process. That PPH was investigated. Those doing the investigating did not see any evidence to show PPH or its members were involved in a conspiracy or breakage of the law.

In the video of the House panel, there is a Republican from Utah heard accusing PPH of using federal funds to support political groups. The executive from PPH could not get a word in edge wise to explain the process. Because the Republican knew, as did everyone else whom is informed (i.e. not you), that the federal dollars are not used for abortions. In fact, the money PPH gets from the US Government is kept quite separating from abortions and political activities. In other words, PPH is following the laws of the land.

The thread I'm mention is still on the forum. The (nearly) Three Hour Video Is Found Here!

Actually, Sanity made three posts on the thread this one is related too.

Truth be told, I tried to honestly engage him into serious discussions. But after a while it was like "....arguing with a table..." rather than a living, breathing, intelligent and educated individual. Each discussion simply started sinking towards "Loony Land". It was not that he didnt make good arguments (which he did every once in a while), its that the majority of arguments didn't have anything supporting it.

Like building a roof in Minecraft after destroying the foundations when the first 'shingle' has been placed (i.e. stairs). If you never played Minecraft, you'll never understand the metaphor....

The headline at your Huffpo link reads:
Judge Reminds Anti-Abortion Corporation It Is Not A Person...
But a Slate headline about the Hobby Lobby case reads...
    Yes, Corporations Are People...
And at Bainbridge's law blog there is a piece titled:
The Corporation is a Legal Person. Get Over It.
Does anyone know where this hair is split?

K

Yes, something created whole cloth out of thin air, that therefore does not really exist but only in the abstract, i.e....on paper...is not a person. The very idea that this non-person enjoys any constitutional rights beyond property rights, is an affront to basic logic.

The only function of the very existence of something called a corporation, is to limit liability to its owners original investment and it works quite well say when for only two examples, a corporation, in the interest of investors, demonstrates such negligence as to bury people in mines and blow them off oil rigs.

And as in a prior post, knowingly cause death, illness or maiming, only to then be able to negotiate out of criminal liability and suffer only civil liability amounting to a small fraction of the profits.
