Look at the link... it is real... it is happening every day in America... some child dies because of an irresponsible gun owner... How can you ignore it!

All we have to do is make gun owners culpable for the accident or crime committed with their weapon if it is not reasonably secured.

Aylee... I don't care about the criminals... if gun owners are responsible with strong laws... guns will dry up to the criminal element. I am all for making any gun crime a capital offense... not as a deterrent but to kill the bastards off.

Right now most criminals with guns are killing each other... it is the nuts and accidents from dumb ass owners that are killing the most.

Butch

So you ascribe to trickle down law enforcement. Stick it to legitimate gun owners and eventually it will affect the criminals. Punish the innocent now and we will worry about the guilty some other time.

There are these things called "hobbies." And people who do these hobby things tend to collect things related to their hobby.

Really? Mowing down a class room of kids is a 'hobby' to you?

How is being responsible for your weapon a punishment? And... did you not read what I would like to do with criminals that commit a gun crime... is this punishment enough for you?

That was uncalled for. Maybe you should take up reading comprehension as a hobby.

Consumer reports disagrees with you.
The link didn't work, but just google to firearms accidents down

If guns are properly secured it will be a lot harder to steal them... better than leaving them laying on a car seat... This will have an effect on the availability of guns on the street. You don't come after a problem from one direction... do it on as many fronts as reasonable.

It will also save untold lives of children as well.

Butch

You make it illegal to be a victim of a crime. It could be argued that any time a firearm is stolen it wasn't adeguately secured so yes you want to punish the victim. Make people afraid to own firearms and then hope that eventually the criminals will be affected.

I don't know a single person other than cops who has left a gun open in their their car. The "fact" on the word of the criminals that the cars were unlocked does not mean that the guns were on the seats, most likely they were in the glove box.
People used to leave them in gun racks but the last time I saw a gun rack it had umbrelas in it.

kdsub -> RE: Oregon Shooter had fifteen firearms (10/6/2015 8:21:30 PM)

I want to make it illegal to leave your gun unsecured...and if you do be responsible for death...injury...or crime committed with it. I am not for obsolving the criminal... kill the bastard... but the child killed or injured or any innocent deserves a reckoning.

This from the boy who claims he only offers up facts and arguments, never stooping to 'just personal attacks'.

This is low, you fucking twit.

I do often have facts and arguments. Notice not one conservative has tried to mount an actual counter argument to my arguments so far? All of you have basically tried to attack my character. Because you and I both know, your side doesnt have any argument. As more people are killed in mass shootings, more people join up with the crowd "heavily restrict and/or ban them'. So keep up with your current tactics. They aren't doing you any good. In a few years, you'll be handing your firearms over to the police. That's right, the government will not have to take the firearms like you all are demanding. The government already knows how to take the guns away. An do it in such a way that you'll cooperate fully. The ironic thing is, the elements that allow the government to do this were put in place by conservative politicians. I.e. the people YOU VOTED FOR!

I have offered up a middle ground, and none of you can handle that concept either. You foolishly think you can just intimidate, insult, and behave like children on the subject of firearms. Someone with some intelligence and wisdom would see the writing on the wall. Better to strike a deal now while you have some credibility. Then later when you have none.

But keep up with your insults. They are not helping your case. They are helping my arguments beautifully.

Yet again, you do not even bother to address what kdsub states. Kdsub states 'A' and your responding to 'B'. Yet, Kdsub never stated 'B', because 'B' was not created as an argument. How about you try to stay on topic, rather than trying to shift the argument. I've notice you and other conservatives on here doing just that. How about you just man up, and say you don't have an effective argument to counter what kdsub stated?

kdsub -> RE: Oregon Shooter had fifteen firearms (10/6/2015 8:34:31 PM)

joe they never will directly address my statements... because to do it they would have to say directly that they don't care how irresponsible a gun owners is and the death of children is an acceptable price to pay for their freedoms and toys.

This is not a reply to anyone in particular, just an observation of a recent event.

Both sides of the gun issue will make of it what they want.

http://www.aol.com/article/2015/10/06/boy-11-charged-with-murder-after-killing-neighbor-over-puppies/2 12454 6/

An 11-year-old boy in Tennessee has been charged with killing his 8-year-old neighbor over an argument about puppies.

Neighbors told investigators that MaKayla Dyer was playing with her puppies on Saturday night in White Pine near Knoxville when the unidentified boy approached her.

A neighbor explained, "He asked the little girl to see her puppies. she said no and laughed and then turned around, looked at her friend and said, 'let's go get the--' and never got 'puppies' out."

One neighbor told WKBN,
"This is not a gun issue, this is a parenting issue.
Our problem with our country now is that we're not stepping in and being good parents.
We're not stepping in them right from wrong."

Another said, "Guns should be under lock and key if you have children...

no where in arm's reach of a child.

No parent should have to bury their baby"

The 11-year-old is being held in juvenile court on charges of first degree murder.

Definitely lots of parenting issues here, I agree.

Still, the gun does seem to have played a fairly decisive role in the encounter.

I'm pretty sure the 8-year-old girl would still be alive if the 11-year-old boy had gone and grabbed a pressure cooker.

And he'd have had a hard time killing her through a window with an ax or knife

This is both a parenting and gun issue.

If your shotgun is out in the open were a child can gain access to it; Your not just a bad parent, your criminally negligence for ANYTHING that happens. In this case, the father should be going to jail for BEING A FUCKING MORON! While I feel sorry for the child and the life he'll have to endure for not knowing better; I have....NO SYMPATHY.....for the gun owner. That person should be made an example of by the courts. With the hope it instills enough fear in other morons with guns to lock them up if they have children living in the same dwelling.
